My Ship Is Political

Yesterday my younger sister came up to me, laughing about a topic she had been following on tumblr. It was to do with the male’s response to posts such as “Why are men so perverted, abusive, objectifying, assholes?! I hate all men” from generally quite young women. Then male response she was laughing about was “Not all men are like that”. Now I was genuinely surprised at her reaction. Not less than a month ago she was saying how she hated those kinds of feminists, but now she seems to glorify them. I tried reasoning with her why men respond like that. To do with the fact that those posts are set up to effect any male who reads them. To create a shit storm to be used as further evidence that men are so oppressive. Of course she didn’t listen and instead, turned to me, asking me if I was just rewording “but not all men are like that”… So it left me no choice, but to do what I’m best at. To turn her argument the other way around.

“Girls are so ignorant and stupid. How can they so fail to evaluate and understand simple mathematical equations, or rationalize the fundamental basics of physics?”

She stared at me in shock. A moment of pause to gather her thoughts…

“That’s sexist!” was her response.

Plus, it’s a common method of addressing opposing views online.  Insult the other person so that you can fee it’s “justified” in dismissing the view.

If anything I’ve noticed that when you go against “the narrative” - what liberals and SJWs feel you should say or think - their responses are even worse than what they accuse others of doing.  For example, some of the most sexist comments I’ve seen on Tumblr come from women attacking other women who don’t follow the narrative.  The same goes for racist comments; if you really want to see some nasty racism, see what SJWs say to black conservatives.

Also, as well all know, the federal income tax is the only tax in existence.

However there will always be some who pretend those who have more somehow stole it, as justification to raising taxes even higher on them.  

If anything your response is proof of the class war issues we’re having where we’re being encouraged to hate those who have more than we do.    The Haves vs the Have-Nots all over again.

It doesn’t matter if it’s even true as long as you get enough people hating others and wanting to punish them out of jealousy.  

We need to “punish” them more to make ourselves feel better for what’s wrong in our lives right?

We have become a nation of entitlements.  Where we pretend those who have more somehow got it “unfairly” - not because they actually got it unfairly, but because then we feel more justified about trying to take it away to redistribute wealth.

We’ve forgotten that equality was about RIGHTS under the law, not about how successful we are.  These days we’d rather cut some groups down to make other groups happier - even though the other groups don’t actually gain anything from it.

It’s as if you seem to think manual labor is the only job that actually works hard.  As if a CEO does nothing but play solitare all day long and collect millions for it.

If it was that easy everyone would be doing it no?  But alas you actually have to work to get to that level.  Like any job you trade your skills and time for income - and to get more you have to work more or prove that your skills are worth more.  You don’t get to CEO by doing nothing but looking pretty.

The problem is tho… it takes work and effort. No one gets anything for free.  And if you think the higher ups just get all that they get for nothing… perhaps that’s the problem. 

We have people who somehow think the better jobs are just going to be handed to them.  Life doesn’t work that way.  

But sitting around blaming everyone else, blaming corporations, blaming ceos gets you… nothing.  You don’t get ahead by blaming everyone else. You get ahead by effort, sacrifice, and planning.

I work for a living and I work hard.  I just don't pretend that anyone owes me anything other than what I agreed to work for.  I don't pretend that others who have more somehow "stole" it from me and that they didn't work hard for it.  There's a lot of things I want - but I know I can't afford them so I do without until I can save up.  No one owes me an iphone, or a tv, or anything else.  I have to prioritize what's important and what's just a silly want.  And yes, I've had times where I had to prioritize whether or not I splurged on luxuries like milk, not just if I could afford a gadget.

The things is, I believe that equality is about rights under the law - not how successful someone is allowed to be.  Skills and abilities are not equal.  Knowing how to efficiently market oneself isn't equal.  The rights to PERSUE happiness does NOT mean the right to succeed. Sometimes I've been successful, sometimes I haven't been.
