Is there scientific evidence for the chakras?
I read this article by Sarah Murphy, LPCÂ and thought Iâd share -Â
Margaret Moda conducted a review of the research on the anatomical and physiological evidence of the chakras. Her study was published in the April 2022 issue of the International Journal of Healing and Caring. After reviewing the literature on the evidence of the chakras, Moda concluded that there is some evidence that chakras emit electromagnetic radiation and have possible anatomical correlates. There is, indeed, some scientific evidence for the chakras!
The theory
The idea of chakras stems from ancient Eastern traditions and has become increasingly popular in the West. The popularity of the concept mirrors that of the meridians â born in the East, gaining traction in the West. There is some scientific evidence supporting the meridians. In this study, Moda sought to examine the evidence for the chakras based on electromagnetic radiation or anatomical correlates.
The study setup
Moda searched databases for studies on the anatomical and physiological studies of the chakras. She excluded papers on theory or intuitive descriptions and expanded her search to include books containing scientific studies. Thus, sixteen studies met the search criteria.
Study results find evidence for the chakras
Moda grouped her results in two categories: anatomical studies and physiological studies.
Anatomical Studies
Two studies found that the chakras align with known nerve plexuses:
Rokade (2017) found a plexus of nerves near the location of the purported heart chakra.
Sweta and colleagues (2018) found a plexus of nerves near the location of the purported base or root charka.
Physiological Studies
Several studies found electromagnetic emissions from the chakras:
Jalil et al (2015) used radiofrequency meters with dipole whip antennas to detect electromagnetic radiation from the chakra locations in young healthy subjects. They found that each chakra emits a particular band of frequencies. Interestingly, their findings (chakras emit frequencies of 29 MHz â 86 MHz) matches the overall frequency of the human electromagnetic field of about 53 MHz.
One study by Motoyama (1981) used a magnetometer, copper wire and photoelectric cells. When the subjects activated a chakra, the photoelectric cells emitted a faint light and the copper electrode detected high-frequency oscillations.
Hunt used an electromyograph (EMG) (1977, 1986). She detected wave forms and frequency bands from 100 Hz to 1 KHz, corresponding to various colors, in the area of the chakras. Further, she found that, as the subjects activated or "opened" a chakra, the frequency increased. In 1997, Wirth and colleagues attempted to replicate the findings and did, but others have questioned their research.
Rewold and Husen (2020) used electrodes to measure frequencies above 200Hz in a group of biofield practitioners and university students. In both groups, the frequency bands matched what Hunt had found. Additionally, the frequency band power was higher among the biofield practitioners than the students.
In each case, there were measurable electromagnetic emissions from the chakras.
Why this study on the evidence for chakras matters
This study adds to our understanding of the human electromagnetic field and rounds up some evidence for the chakras. While many Westerners remain skeptical of the meridians, chakras, and biofield, these concepts are aligned with what we know about physics. Humans have electromagnetic energy and bioelectric fields.

5 Ways to Create NEW in the New Year â and All YearBy
5 Ways to Create NEW in the New Year â and All Year By Tris Thorp (as posted in The Chopra Center newsletter)
While the beginning of a new year does signify new beginnings, every single day of your life is an opportunity to begin anew.
As youâre wondering how to approach the coming year, and thinking about all that youâd like to accomplish and achieve, itâs important to remember that you have the power to create change any time you make a conscious commitment to do so.
Here are five creative ways to plan, manifest, and create new in your new yearâand all year! Try one or two, or combine all of them into a five-step process.
1. Get to Know Yourself through Identifying Your Values
Knowing your values can help you create a life that you are excited about living. A value is an internal representation (or picture) of what has been encoded in your unconscious mind as being the most important thing to you in an area of your life. When you know what is most important to you, you can begin to formulate how you are living based on your passions. Consider a particular area of your life that needs tending to; an area that you would like to do some renovations in or where you would like to manifest something new. Maybe itâs your health and fitness, your career, or your relationships.
Next, ask yourself, âWhat is important to me about this area of life?â Make a list of words that come to mind. This list should be things you consider to be important about this specific area, as opposed to things you are wanting or wishing for. Once you have your list, organize it in order of importance. You can then begin to make choices, set goals, and take action toward living in accordance with what is truly most important to you.
2. Work with Your Vision and Set a Goal
This is easier to do than you might think. Unlike values, your vision is a picture of how you would be living your life in an ideal world; it will feel exciting, inspiring, and is filled with positive emotions. The great news is that your vision already exists inside youâit simply needs to be revealed. To do this, reflect on the area of your life you know you need to revamp and how it currently exists today. Next, allow yourself to envision how you would like for these situations or circumstances to transform in the next six months or year. Become aware of the different experiences youâre having, the positive emotions youâre feeling, and notice the people around you, as if itâs happening now. Let yourself dream bigâthis is your vision! Now that you have unveiled your vision and youâve had a glimpse of what is possible, you can determine what goals you need to set. Goals are important because they point you in a specific direction and help you achieve the things you want to achieve. So now, think about your vision and consider a goal you need to achieve in the next three to six months that will move you powerfully toward living your vision. Itâs important to do this work one step at a time so that you donât become overwhelmed by the big picture. After setting your short-term goal, itâs time to determine what action steps need to be taken in order to get there. Ask yourself, âWhat is one thing I can do this week to move toward my goal?â Then, follow through and do itâweek after weekâuntil youâve reached your goal. Then, set your next goal. Keep in mind your goals should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound).
3. Collaborate with Others
Never underestimate the power of collaboration. There are lots of ways you can manifest or create newness through getting together with others who share the same interests. Consider the area of life you are working on and think about how you could align yourself with friends, family, and perfect strangers to help you achieve your goals. If you are working on health and fitness, you may join an online fitness and nutrition challenge group or train for a marathon with people in your community. If youâre an aspiring entrepreneur or working on your career, perhaps you create or join a meet-up group that is focused on that particular niche. If your relationship is in trouble or you are carrying residual emotional pain from the past, a life coach may be a great option to help you get back on track. If youâre wanting to enhance your spiritual life, you might attend community meditations, join a book club, or attend a spiritual retreat. The point is to connect with others who can help keep you inspired and accountable for creating change in your life.
4. Design Your Ideal Self Avatar
An avatar is an iconic representation or ideal embodiment of a person or idea. Who is it that you want to become? This doesnât mean you canât be you, but rather, itâs a matter of getting clear on who the best version of you isâand then stepping into that. This will require some assistance and some imagination, so let yourself have some fun with it. To create your Ideal Self Avatar, sometimes itâs helpful to begin with bringing to mind people, characters, deities, or superheroes you admire and respect. Make a list of the specific qualities and characteristics you find attractive. Imagine a time in your life when you didnât handle a situation in the best way and imagine what this character would have done in that same scenario. You can then call upon this archetype whenever you feel challenged to help you become a better version of yourself by emulating some of their attributes. See if you can come up with a few different people or superheroes who inspire you to be your best and keep them in mind when you find yourself up against tough times. Next, start to think about who you would be if you could design yourself:
What would you be capable of?
Who would you surround yourself with?
What would your physical health be like?
What type of relationships would you invest in?
What would you want to accomplish or achieve?
Would you be someone who is connected to their emotions and able to communicate in a conscious, yet direct way?
Would you be able to set and enforce boundariesâwith yourself and others?
Would you have a spiritual or religious practice? If so, what would it entail?
Then, begin to make strides by taking action each day to become that version of you. Keep in mind that Rome was not built in a day and that the journey isnât traveled overnight. You will need to be diligent in your self-discipline and maintain focus every dayâeven if itâs just baby steps.
5. Create a Vision Board
Vision boards have been a long-standing favorite of many for inspiring positive change. While they gained a heightened level of popularity after the documentary, The Secret, came out, vision boards have been around for a long time. A vision board uses the law of attractionâyou will attract what you hold insideâlike a magnetâgood, bad and everything in between. The law of attraction is activated at all times and is based on whatever is going on in your unconscious mind and the actions you are taking every day. Similar energetic frequencies attract other energetic frequencies. If you are doing your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual work and focusing on positive evolution, you will have an easier time attracting the things you are seeking. Choose the area of your life where you need to do the most work and create a vision boardâa collage of words, phrases, and images of things that inspire you, that highlight what you want to manifest in your life, and how you want to be living. To create a vision board, get a large piece of poster board and a glue stick. Find online images relative to what you are seeking in your life or thumb through magazines, cutting out things you want to put on your board. Then, when you have your pile of desired images, begin to glue them to the poster board in a fashion that suits your taste in design and pin it to a wall in your home or office. The key here is to make sure you can see it every single day and that you have an energetic connection to the things on it.
How to Deepen Your Meditation Practice with the Seven Spiritual Laws
By Adam Brady
Meditation is one of the most reliable tools to manage stress, improve relationships, fulfill your desires, and connect with your Spirit. Although itâs relatively simple to practice, your intellect can often make it more complicated than it needs to be.
One way to see meditation in a new light is to look at it through the lens of the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. The Seven Spiritual Laws represent the way in which the unmanifest becomes manifest, and can serve as the operating system thatâs running behind the scenes in your life. These principles can be used as the instruction manual for living a happy, fulfilling, abundant, and profoundly spiritual life.
Each of the Seven Spiritual Laws is deeply woven into the practice of meditation. By exploring this relationship, you can better understand your practice, which will deepen as your awareness expands.
1. The Law of Pure Potentiality
The first spiritual law is essentially a reminder of your true nature as a soulâan outcropping of the field of unbounded awareness. Like waves or eddies in the ocean, you are an expression of that infinite field of conscious intelligence, creativity, and bliss. This law is the governing principle of your meditation practice that takes awareness beyond the level of the mind and into the Gap between your thoughts, which is the field of pure potentiality. The process of meditation is to enter into that level of existence and come face to face with your true identityâSpirit.
2. The Law of Giving and Receiving
The second law awakens you to the flow of energy and information in the universe and in your life. Energy doesnât sit stillâit needs to move. By keeping that energy flowing through giving and receiving, you nourish the entire universe. In meditation, this law manifests by allowing your thoughts to come and go without resistance. The flow of thoughts during meditation is the current of life energy as it comes and goes through awareness. Allow sensations, sounds, and other thoughts to effortlessly drift by without obstructing the current or getting attached to a particular thought.
3. The Law of Karma or Cause and Effect
While the Law of Giving and Receiving is about keeping the energy of life in motion, the third law focuses on the quality of that energy. Karma means âactionâ and also implies the consequences of that action. The more positive and uplifting the actionâthought, word, and deedâfor everyone involved with that choice, the more positive and life-affirming the effect of that cause will be. The Law of Karma encourages you to make conscious choices that nourish others and yourself, leading to fulfilling and healing results. Unconscious choices, on the other hand, lead to less than evolutionary and healing consequences. During meditation, by choosing to not indulge in the meaning of your thoughts, you avoid the karmic conditioning that binds you to predictable and habitual patterns of thought and behavior. As you repeatedly enter the stillness between your thoughts, you transcend your karma. Like repeatedly washing a dirty cloth in a stream, the stains are gently lifted away until no impurities remain.
4. The Law of Least Effort
The fourth law teaches that the intelligence of nature functions with effortless ease. It is carefree, harmonious, and loving. It is the principle of âdo less, accomplish moreâ as seen in the flights of birds, the growing of grass, and the swimming of fish. The Law of Least Effort is about the economy of motion in your activities. This is the central theme of your practice of meditation. Accessing the non-local field of Spirit is dependent on the least amount of effort. Force and struggle cannot open the door to higher states of awareness. If at any time during your meditation you feel as if youâre struggling, forcing, or concentrating, soften your focus on your breath or mantra. This allows the process to be light, innocent, and effortless so you may be carried deeper into stillness.
5. The Law of Intention and Desire
This principle outlines the mechanics for the expression of everything in the material universe. Intentionis a force of nature that contains its own infinite organizing power. In the same way an apple seed contains the potential for bushels of apples or even an entire forest, your desires and intentions hold the same manifestation blueprint through which they can fulfill themselves. Becoming aware of your desires and intentions is akin to choosing the seeds you wish to sow. In meditation, you plant those seeds into the fertile field of pure consciousness. Nourished with regular visits to the Gap, you water your desires and allow them to blossom when the season is right.
6. The Law of Detachment
For any desire to manifest, you must be willing to let go of your attachment to the outcome. The sixth law reminds you to not be too rigidly attached to the way you want things to be in your life. Embrace uncertainty and step into the unknown. In doing so, you experience the freedom from your past conditioning and open the door to unlimited possibilities. In your meditation practice, this law helps you let go of expectations and attachments to a specific result. Each meditation experience is unique and provides exactly what your mind and body need at that time. Wanting it to be something other than what it is binds you to the notion of an âidealâ meditation and robs you of the gifts of the present moment.
7. The Law of Dharma
The final law teaches that you are here in this life for a purposeâthat you have a unique gift to give the world in your own special way. There are no spare parts in the universe and you perform an irreplaceable role in the play of the cosmos. The root word of dharma means âto uphold.â In this sense, by fulfilling your dharma, you are supporting the entire world. It is vitally important that you discover your true purpose and perform it in service of the world. As it relates to meditation, the mindâs dharma is to expand into higher states of awareness. It is the destiny of the mind to experience Atma Darshan (glimpsing the soul), Cosmic Consciousness, Divine Consciousness, and ultimately Unity Consciousness as part of its path of awakening. By letting go into the present moment, you allow your mind to express its dharma to the fullest potential. This is the true and highest purpose of meditationâthe expansion of consciousness. By regularly reviewing and integrating the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success in this way, you open the door to a broader experience of the principles along with an ever-deepening meditation practice.
(via 8 Steps to Establish a Daily Meditation Practice)
8 Steps to Establish a Daily Meditation Practiceby: Erin EasterlyShareThisÂ
There are few reasons to skip the powerful activity of meditation. After all, research has found that the practice can provide a wide array of health benefits from preventing age-related brain structure deterioration, increasing memory capacity, and regulating your mood to slowing the aging process, reducing chronic inflammation, and increasing immunity.
Yet, knowing that something is good for you doesnât always translate into doing it. The chasm between knowledge and application can sometimes be too wide to jump. However, there are some simple steps you can take to help start and maintain a healthy meditation practice.
Link Meditation to a Habitual Activity
Activities such as showering, brushing teeth, or driving home from work are deeply ingrained habits that donât require effort or forethought. They are known as instrumental tasks. By linking your meditation to one of these tasks, the effort needed to initiate the meditation session is significantly reduced.
Davidji, author of Secrets of Meditation, offers the acronyms RPM (rise, pee, and meditate) and RAW (right after work) as guidelines for linking meditations to habits. Not only are these acronyms catchy, they can reduce the resistance most people experience when trying to create a new habit. Linking your meditation session to an automatic activity, one that doesnât require the use of will power, increases the probability that your new habit will take root.
Start Small
Meditate for short periods of time, in which you experience no resistance. For instance, you might start with just 10 minutes. It should be easily attainable and create absolutely no push back from your mind. Establishing the habit of meditation is much more important than increasing the length of time spend in meditation. Once your initial time commitment becomes habitual, you can then begin to lengthen your meditation practice.
Experiment With Guided Meditations
New meditators are often not sure what to do during a meditation. Guided meditations are an excellent way to settle into this practice. Guided meditations will lead you through breathing techniques, relaxation, and visualization, mantra, or mindfulness-based practices. This takes all the guesswork out of your meditation and can help you free your mind and surrender to the experience.
Attend a Group Meditation
Meditation is an individual activity. That doesnât mean group meditations canât be beneficial. Meditating with others can reinforce your personal commitment to the practice and provide access to a huge reservoir of knowledge. Groups can create a tangible energy that can inspire even the most reluctant meditator. Studies show that meditating in groups can increase peace in your community.
Use an App
Who says you have to turn off your smartphone during meditation? While you should refrain from checking emails and texts or taking calls, there are a variety of apps that can actually enhance your meditation. These apps allow you to choose the length of time for your meditation and select ambient sounds, ending tones, and interval bells. Some apps, such as Insight Timer, also allow you to connect with others who are meditating at the same time.
Practice Pranayama
Just as you warm up your muscles before a workout, pranayama helps to prepare your mind for meditation. Breathing mindfully and consciously relaxes the body, calms the mind, and evenslows the aging process. It has been proven to fire up the autonomic nervous system, ushering both mind and body into a state of relaxation. This state of relaxation is helpful if you want to experience the benefits of meditation.
Schedule Your Meditation
If meditation is not on your schedule, itâs easier to put other activities and tasks ahead of this important practice. Sometimes just seeing the word âmeditationâ penciled onto your calendar can be enough of an incentive to show up for this daily dose of peace.
In an accomplishment-oriented culture, schedules can fill up to the point that there is little time left for the activities and pursuits that really matter. By scheduling meditation, you make sure that nothing will interfere with your commitment to yourself. If possible, schedule meditation at the same time each day. Your body and mind will eventually begin to relax as that time draws near.
Create a Meditation Space
Carve out a little corner of your room to use exclusively for meditation. In that corner, place your meditation seat of choice such as bolsters, blankets, or any props that you need to support yourself. Then fill your space with objects that inspire you such as photos, soft lighting, candles, incense, a diffuser, sacred books, or anything else that speaks to your soul. Use this space only for meditation. It will absorb the vibrations of calmness. Eventually, just entering your sacred space will initiate the relaxation response.
By practicing the above techniques, you will see your meditation practice move from, âI know I should,â to âI always do.â Once you achieve a consistent meditation practice, your level of health, peace, and happiness will expand.

(via 7 Days a Week: Daily Habits for Peace)
7 Days a Week: Daily Habits for Peaceby: Deepak Chopra, M.D.
The balance of peace in the world can seem overwhelming, as if huge forces outside your control are in charge. But you can take a different perspective by setting the goal for yourself ofcreating peace all around you. The world's wisdom traditions teach that the source of violence, war, discontent, rebellion, and unrest lies inside each of us. When you become a unit of peace consciousness, exemplifying the quality known as Ahimsa (harmlessness) in Yoga, you have added in a unique way to bringing the world to a state of peace.
Develop your peace consciousness by focusing on a different habit every day of the week.
Monday: Habit #1âBeing Calm and Centered
Peace is the natural state of the mind at its deepest level. Non-peace begins in small ways, when you are worried, restless, distracted, uneasy, or dissatisfied. Today be mindful of those signals from your inner world. When you feel them, take a moment to return to your calm space. Either meditating or simply sitting in a quiet space with eyes closed and taking easy, deep breaths, works very well. Today's habit is learning how to act upon early signals that peace isn't there inside.
Tuesday: Habit #2âNon-participation
To be a unit of peace consciousness, don't participate in the opposite attitude, which magnifies the reasons to be unpeaceful. Today, avoid conversations that include gossip, blame, backbiting, and discussions of how terrible the world is. You don't have to be a Pollyanna, acting as if everything is already perfect. Simply focus on not participating when you can feel that a situation is turning toward anger, resentment, envy, and hostility in any form.
Wednesday: Habit #3âTaking No Side
Peace consciousness wants peace to be equally shared by everyone. This isn't possible if you take sides, judge against others, or indulge in us-versus-them thinking. Today, be aware of everyone's right to have peace. When you find yourself reacting with a knee-jerk response against a certain person, group, faith, ethnicity, or belief system, remind yourself that you can hold a different viewpoint while still wishing peace for all concerned.
Thursday: Habit #4âThe Intention of Peace
Peace consciousness becomes more powerful as it deepens. One way to deepen your awareness is to put an intention out to the universe, which really means connecting with your higher self. Today, any time you witness or confront a situation that needs a peaceful resolution, ask inside that the way to peace be opened for everyone. Sit quietly with this intention for a few moments, letting your heart go out to those not at peace.
Friday: Habit #5âCommune in Peace
When people of peace get together, they magnify their consciousness. Today, find a way to commune with someone else who wants peace. This can be through sitting with a child and absorbing his or her innocence, or discussing the topic of peace with a sympathetic person. You might consider joining a group that is working at any level of peace, such as preventing violence or helping troubled teens. Feel the warmth of sharing your peace with others.
Saturday: Habit #6âSelfless Service
Peace consciousness wants to be of service. It does little good to be at peace passively in isolation. Today, allow someone else to feel the peace you have found by being of service. Let yourself experience the kindness, good will, and compassion you can bring to a troubled situation. Your service can be as modest as visiting the elderly or as active as joining a community outreach project. Your aim is to give and receive at the level of peace that benefits both people at the same time.
Sunday: Habit #7âThe Soul's Peace
At the deepest level, there is infinite peace, undisturbed by the play of opposites and the clash of darkness versus light. From the soul's perspective, there is only pure Being. Today, take time to meditate on your true nature as unbounded love, compassion, reverence for life, and unity with the divine presence. See the light expanding from your heart in all directions. Let simply being here be enough.
Soak up the beauty of Nature and realize that you are an indispensable part of the journey to enlightenment that lies ahead for everyone who steps on to the path. Just as there is only one state of pure Being, there is only one peace, which blesses every person equally.

Great teaching by Ernest Holms on the power of belief and the science of the mind.
This lecture by Ernest Holmes explains how  to "ask and receive"  It is a great explanation of how belief affects our reality.
According to Wikipedia - "Ernest Shurtleff Holmes (January 21, 1887 â April 7, 1960) was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, a part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. Holmes had previously studied another New Thought teaching, Divine Science, and was an ordained Divine Science Minister. Â His influence beyond New Thought can be seen in the self-help movement." and "Through his research, Holmes created a "structure of concepts" based on the religions and philosophies of human history, sometimes correlating his findings with the then-emerging "new" physics. He named the teaching a science because he believed that its principles were scientifically provable in practice. He wrote, "I would rather see a student of this Science prove its Principle than to have him repeat all the words of wisdom that have ever been uttered."
He is a leader in the positive thought movement and this teaching has a lot of universal truth.

Ramblings
Donât just say you want to do what makes you happy. Stand up for yourself and stop doing the things that make you miserable.
So true!
Positive âhappyâ energy meridian!
According to Chinese Medicine, the human body is animated and energized by 14 main energy meridians. More than 3,500, Chinese physicians mapped the flow of these âenergy pathwaysâ, and that knowledge became the basis of modern-day acupuncture and acupressure techniques.  It is believed that the meridians transport energy throughout your  body to keep healthy, physically and emotionally.  Chinese medicine associates each meridian with a specific set of emotions, and teaches that if a particular meridian is weak or blocked the issue can show up in a persons emotions, as well as physical manifestations.
It is believed that the Spleen Meridian is responsible  for keeping us free of depression. Here is a breakdown of how the Spleen Meridian works, and how it keeps us upbeat and combats feeling of depression.  The following breakdown is taken from an article on beliefnet.com:
1: Spleen Meridian deals with all the stuff coming into the body. The Spleen meridian is responsible for digesting, assimilating and 'dealing with' all the input you get from the outside world. That input could be food; it could be environmental; it could be knowledge; or it could be emotions and feelings. (Food allergies, intolerances and learning disorders, to name but a few things, are all connected to issues with the Spleen Meridian, and all of these issues have also mushroomed into massive problems in recent years.)
2: Modern life is pretty hard on Spleen Meridian. The Spleen Meridian can be wiped-out or chronically-weakened by a whole bunch of things that are part and parcel of modern life, including:
⢠Shock or trauma â traumatic births (or traumatic deliveries, if youâre the mom), serious illnesses, child abuse, divorce, car crashes, or even things like watching replays of the Twin Towers coming down.
⢠Chemicals and pollutants â food additives, MSG and bleach can all take out your Spleen Meridian.
⢠Electromagnetic 'smog' â every electronic gadget gives off its own particular âvibeâ, or frequency. The nearer that frequency is to the natural vibration of the human body, the more it can potentially disrupt the bodyâs own internal chemical messaging system, and the more damage it can potentially do to your energetic functioning and health. The worst offenders are WiFi, cellphones and microwave ovens.
⢠Negative, critical emotional environments â Spending too much time with angry, critical people is one of the fastest ways to wipe-out your Happy Energy. ⢠Stress â When you get stressed, that triggers off the âfight of flightâ reaction in your body. Another meridian called the Triple Warmer Meridian is responsible for activating your 'fight or flight' response, and when Triple Warmer gets switched on, the first place it sucks all the energy from is your Spleen Meridian.
3: Compassion, caring and nurturing strengthens the Spleen Meridian. The more compassion, caring and nurturing you have in your life, the stronger your Happy Energy will be. It really helps to spend a lot more of your time with upbeat, optimistic, generous folk, but thatâs only part of the answer. If you really want to boost your Happy Energy, you also need to work on developing more self-compassion, and to make sure that youâre taking good care of yourself across all three levels of body, mind and soul.
4: Indifference, anger and hostility take out your Spleen Meridian. If your co-worker blows up in your face at the office, or youâre on the receiving end of a âroad-rageâ induced verbal attack on the way home, the first place youâll feel it is in your Spleen Meridian. Nothing but nothing dissolves your Happy Energy faster or more effectively than being yelled at, ignored, neglected (especially if youâre a child) or beaten-up, both verbally and otherwise. So minimising the time you spend around angry, negative people is a brilliant way of instantly boosting your Spleen Meridian. But thereâs also an inner dimension to this, too. Perfectionist-types who are very hard on themselves, or people who are prone to guilt-tripping themselves for making mistakes or failing to live up to other peopleâs impossible expectations usually spend far too much time beating themselves up, which is also guaranteed to short-circuit the Spleen Meridian.
How to keep Spleen Meridian strong.
Now you know just how crucial spleen can be to getting, and staying happy, hereâs a few easy things you can do to keep it strong and healthy:
⢠Pray on it â God can move mountains, even if youâre still stuffing in the microwave meals and living next to a nuclear reactor.
⢠Make sure you're giving and getting enough healthy compassion in your life.
⢠Do your best to avoid or minimize the stuff that's wiping it out (and if youâre not sure what that is, re-read Fact 2, above, to remind you).
⢠Exercise regularly â dancing for at least five mad minutes is the single best way to instantly give your Happy Energy a boost.
⢠Use a simple energy technique (described below) to strengthen the Spleen Meridian. A super-easy technique to strengthen spleen energetically: Tap the spleen pressure points.
A great, easy way to strengthen your Happy Energy is to regularly tap or rub the Spleen acupressure and neurolymphatic points. These points are located just under your boobs, in front, or at the side of your boobs. Tap whichever area feels more tender â the more energy has got blocked or trapped there, the more it will hurt.
The stronger Spleen Meridian is, the happier youâll feel.
Itâs been a best-kept secret for millennia, but keeping your Spleen Meridian strong and vibrant could well be the missing piece of the puzzle, when it comes to beating the blues. Junk food, stress and angry people probably arenât going to disappear anytime soon, so in the meantime you need to take precautions to keep your Happy Energy strong. Be aware that if youâre feeling down and depressed, a weak or blocked Spleen Meridian is almost certainly a prime cause of the problem, and that thereâs a whole bunch of holistic things you can do to get it pumped-up, and working properly again.

3 Ways You Can Benefit from Your Chakras by: Deepak Chopra, M.D.
Most people have heard of the seven chakras (Sanskrit for âwheelsâ) and have perhaps read about their interpretations, which can become very complex. A simple and practical way to view the chakras, though, is as meeting points, or interfaces, between mind and body. Every bodily sensation is part of a conversation between the brain and some part of the physiology. At a subtle level, according to the chakra system, these signals arenât purely physical but relate to meaningful parts of our lives.
Through this simple mind-body connection, the chakras give us ways to balance the whole system. Each of the seven chakras, aligned invisibly up and down the spinal column, stand for an important aspect of being in balance. Starting at the base of the spine and working upward, hereâs what the chakras can tell you about yourself, according to the Indian tradition.
First chakra (base of the spine): This is your foundation, or grounding. When in balance, the first chakra gives you a sense of physical security, safety, and feeling centered. People who feel well-supported have a strong first chakra.
Second chakra (sacrum): This is your source of pleasure, creativity, and sexual energy. When in balance, the second chakra makes life enjoyable. People who are enthusiastic and can accept pleasure naturally, without excess, addiction, or inhibition, have a strong second chakra.
Third chakra (navel/solar plexus): Commonly called the power chakra, the third chakra converts energy into physical form, beginning with good digestion and hormonal balance. When in balance, this chakra makes you feel empowered and able to bring your intentions to fruition. People who have self-confidence and self-esteem are strong in the third chakra.
Fourth chakra (heart): The subtle or spiritual qualities of love, compassion, and empathy are governed by the fourth chakra. When in balance, this charka is soothing, comforting, and nourishing. People who are warm-hearted, sympathetic, and loving have a strong fourth chakra.
Fifth chakra (throat): The fifth chakra is about communication and expression. When in balance, this chakra allows you to express yourself with a sense of safety and confidence. People who can speak their truth and think clearly have a strong fifth chakra.
Sixth chakra (forehead): The sixth chakra traditionally sits like a âthird eyeâ that gives inner vision and access to higher or spiritual reality. When in balance, this chakra allows for intuition and insight. People who trust their inner perceptions have a strong sixth chakra, with the added potential for wisdom and a powerful spiritual life.
Seventh chakra (top of head): Commonly called the âcrownâ chakra, the seventh chakra is the connection to pure consciousness. When in balance, this chakra gives the individual awareness knowledge that it is universal awarenessâthe lower self (Jiva) is the higher Self (Atman), and both are merged into the One (Brahman). People who experience states of unity consciousness have a strong seventh chakra.
These descriptions donât have to be taken literally, although the chakra system has a long tradition in Yoga as a model for the anatomy of the subtle body. To translate your understanding of the chakras into practical benefits, here are three main areas that you can take advantage of.
1. Achieve Overall Balance
You can devote time every day to each of the seven âflavorsâ of awareness represented by the chakras. The key words listed above, such as security, power, love, and insight, are active potentials in your own awareness. By focusing your attention for a few minutes every day on each chakra, you will subtly encourage the qualities it stands for. Some people find it beneficial to sit with closed eyes and place their hands on the seat of each chakra as they pay attention to it.
2. Develop Energetics
Traditionally, the chakras are the gateways through which the life force (Shakti) moves through the mind-body system. This energy gets transformed into mental, physical, and emotional expressions. For example, âsupport,â a key word for the first chakra, is associated with feeling emotionally supported, mentally confident, physically stable, and independent. You can examine your relative strength or weakness for each of these aspects as you look at your chakras. In this way, you map your âenergy flowâ so that you know how to improve where you feel weak (physically, mentally, or emotionally) and expand where you feel strong. This can be a very practical approach to becoming whole.
3. Enhance Your Well-being
In traditional Yoga, the life force travels upward from the root chakra, joining at the sixth chakra with spiritual energy as it descends from the seventh chakra. From this basis, many types of meditation have developed, some of them extremely specific or complex. But in simplest form, when your consciousness is balanced in all seven areas, you are in a natural state of harmony and well-being. In practical terms, this means that finding ways for your life to âbe in the flowâ is the most effortless, natural way to approach well-being.
From these three areasâbalance, energy, and well-beingâthe chakra system allows us to organize life from a level that is all-inclusive. The specific things to do, such as daily meditation and Ayurvedic practice, fall into the general scheme. Itâs not necessary to be rigidly literal about the chakras, to approach them mystically, or even to visualize them. Whatâs important is to gain access to the subtle levels of life where hidden potentials can be activated and greater fulfillment is born.
