This is by far the most interesting skull I own in my collection. About 2 years ago, I found the scattered remains of this deer after a pack of coyotes in the area had eaten their full of him. I can only assume that he had been culled by a hunter because of his odd antlers before the scavengers got to him.

Now I’ve heard of white tailed deer developing a spike on one side, but to have two almost perfectly symmetrical antlers like these is fascinating to me. He also has some damage above his right eye which was most likely due to the gnawing from the coyotes. He’s become a favorite of mine and I plan on using him as the subject for my next art project.
