If God is good and God is good to me, then I must fill in the gaps of all the unknowns of my life with a resounding statement of trust: God is good at being God. I don’t have to figure my present circumstances out. I don’t have to fill the silence left behind in another person’s absence. I don’t have to know all the whys and what-ifs. All I have to do is trust. So in quiet humility and without a personal agenda, I make the decision to let God sort it all out. I sit quietly in His presence and simply say, “God, I want Your truth to be the loudest voice in my life. Correct me. Comfort me. Come closer still. And I will trust. God, You are good at being God

Go into the arts. I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.

Slow mornings, unfinished windows, these shadow walls, the way the light moves. A baptism. Dead Sea salts formed into a bar. Suds of frankincense and lavender soothing my achy muscles. Coffee to wake the senses. My body with no additions. It just is. I’m ready to begin again. Today. This moment. I am.
Beautiful!
Awwww :) Thanks!Â

It has been almost a year since since you died. It’s strange because your death has hit me more intensely than the others. No, it doesn’t make them any less significant to me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you were the fourth passing of our immediate family in the span of five years. While death is a common thing, I find that most people my age have not lost both their parents…

Cultivating Humility
As the new year begins, the resolutions also commence. Each person has something they would like to change or develop so that the new year can be a time for growth. Well, there’s only one thing I have on my heart as 2013 starts: allow God to help me develop an undeniable Christ-like humility. I’ve been digging into a small, yet rich book by Andrew Murray titled Humility: The Journey Toward…

Yesterday morning I was listening to a sermon by Eric Ludy during my morning commute, and he was speaking of making things right in the past before moving forth in his relationship with God. He talked about saying “yes” to God even when it seems like something very hard. At the end of his sermon he says, “I know there’s something stirring in you right now…” And boy was there something stirring…

Loud Honks and Dirty Looks
When I commute to the city, I park my car at the train station, and the lot I use is across from a one way street. Today while I was exiting the parking lot, there were a lot of people still crossing the street to get to their cars, and so before I turned left I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t hit any pedestrians. That’s the right thing to do, right? Well, I was so preoccupied with the pedestrians…
