So guessing that this Master swordsman who supposedly saved Li from the snakes (and in the preview from the people attacking her and wannabe assassin) also is a figment of her imagination. He was real at one point, like Qingshuang, but is probably dead.
Li saved herself.
We know what happened to the edict and it turns out Li's mother had it taken from her by her father, even as she begged him not to saying that it could cause Mo Xiuwen to die. They tried their best to stop the edict from being taken. Though it was not her fault, I suspect this is going to be hurdle that Li and Xiuyao will have to overcome.
And if there was any wonder why Li wants her paternal family dead, even her grandmother is horrid. She has been faking being senile and then reveals that she was the one who killed Li's mother. She tries to kill Li, but lightning strikes a tree and a branch falls on her head. Fitting, especially since we see that Li's mother once told her the tree would protect her.
The grandmother doesn't die immediately and Li is about to stab but is stopped by Xiuyao. He does the only thing that can break her out of her trance - crawl on his hands and knees and say he needs her help because his legs hurt.
Side note: I appreciate that they are showing the healing of his legs as a long process. It's not something that took a couple of days but it has been a multi week process with varying stages. It genuinely looks like he is going through rehab.
We get a little more of wtf happened on the mountain. The scars she has are probably from her biting herself, not monkeys.
When Li saw Qingshuang, she was lit differently - in a pale/cold light in comparison to Li who was in warmer tones. I'm too lazy to look back but I think this was new? When we've seen her before they've been lit the same. This seems to be the first time the lighting shows that Qingshuang is not there.
Editing to add: I love how Li has been methodically gaslighting her father to find out what he did the with edict.
I don't know what was going on in ep 12 of My Royal Nemesis but hope it recovers for the last two episodes.

current state of the internet is a FUCKING EMBARASSMENT. was chatting with my grandma bout the history of crochet and knitting (and the comparative ages of those respective technologies) and i was like "oh YEAH and also that ancient greek fiber art we partly figured out from chemically testing the scoured bleached pigments of stolen statuary (tumblr knows what im talking about)—gimme 30 seconds to look up the name."
5 minutes and 3 search-engines later i am crying tears of blood screaming spitting blubbering in despair as my grandma attempts to digitally pat me consolingly on the back. the library of alexandria didn't burn it was "restructured" to "increase shareholder profits"
and i STILL CANNOT FIND THE TERM.
i am scouring the internet like the victorians scoured and destroyed all trace of joy and color from stolen relics for the LOST NAME OF THE ANCIENT PROCESS of textile-creation akin to knitting/crocheting/nålebinding that at least one academic/crafter used to recreate the leggings on this Glorious Motherfucker:
the google execs erased it. they bleached my bestie AGAIN from history...
is this of any use
SO IT IS!!!
Archer statue from the Temple of Aphaia (ca. 480 BC) next to a reconstruction of its original paint job:
The leggings and sleeves would have created using a method called SPRANG which predates knitting and is over 3,000 years old. What's even sexier is modern artisans managed to recreate the entire outfit using the original method!
Mmm-HMM, love me a shapely thigh in harlequin hosiery. Put👏men👏in👏clingy-ass👏clothing👏again👏👏👏
Unfortunately english sources are hard to find, partly because Google's a shithole, but also because this textile project comes from a German museum, in Germany, where people tend to speak (and publish) in German. That said, the original link is to a short-but-sweet article I would have had no problem finding in 30 seconds a mere few years ago. fortunately i have clever beautiful insane people following me, but alas not everyone has such luxury. thanks to everyone in the notes who shoved themselves down this rabbithole with me!
in conclusion let us take a moment to sincerely wish Google a very burn in hell🙏
I've still been watching The First Jasmine, but I haven't had time to post.
Their relationship was progressing so nicely. I loved watching the trust and affection grow between thing. Of course that wouldn't last.
It makes sense to me that Xiuyao would investigate Li's kidnapping. What's heartbreaking is that he understands she did it to push him to help her heal his leg. At the same time it is a huge betrayal. Not only that but it nearly went very wrong. Li almost died - falling off a cliff into a pile of poisonous snakes was not part her plan. So Xiuyaho was worried sick and to find out that it was her doing, he is rightfully angry. Especially since Li doesn't seem to acknowledge what went wrong with her plan.
It's not surprising that once they fight, Li sees her maid from the Mountain again.
Both of them still have secrets from on another. It's going to be exciting once they team up.

The First Jasmine (dir. Lam Yuk Fan, Leung Sing Kuen)
I’m really liking that Mo Xiuyao knows Ye Li isn’t of sound mind and doesn’t really care. It’s just another thing among all of his descriptions of her.
“Yeah, no big deal, she regularly sits in empty rooms and chats to someone who isn’t there. Just one of those things about my quirky wife, like the alcohol and the jogging. What an odd duck.”
I’m cautiously excited about their dynamic, though I do see some sadness on the horizon. Obviously she wouldn’t be hallucinating a young servant as her comfort and constant companion unless something very very bad happened at the age the servant was when she died. And since the servant she has now was Qingshuang’s counterpart before at the Ye mansion and is very obviously an adult woman, the timeline has to be a matter of years.

The First Jasmine (dir. Lam Yuk Fan, Leung Sing Kuen)
Episode 7 has been my favourite so far.
There have been hints that we've seen so far that something is not right with Ye Li. The bit with the monkeys at in the first episode, the girl that only Ye Li can see (whom at first I thought might be a ghost but now I am thinking it's just an hallucination), and the fact that no one seems to have communicated with anyone on the mountain except for Ye Li. Basically, WTF happened on that mountain?!?!
It's definitely the first time that Mo Xiuyao realizes that is something very wrong with Ye Li, despite her sunny disposition. When she runs to him, he hugs her back with almost no hesitation. He does not question her but has the mansion searched twice for her, and then has guards stay on high alert for her. He stays with her when she asks so she can sleep. He gets rid of all the monkey handlers in the city, just so she won't be afraid and he compensates them well enough that they are okay with leaving. He's basically already in love with her.
More importantly, it shows that he's going to help her slay her demons, just as she's already started to help him.
I suspect one of the reasons he may not have tried to get more treatment on his leg is because he is punishing himself. I am curious when she does start treating his leg, will he hide his recovery from everyone else to have a dramatic standing up from his wheelchair moment?
