Sweeneyâs grin widened as she pleaded with him. His fingers slipped back inside her with ease, his thumb slowly rubbing against her clit as he did so.
âI suppose youâve earned it this time, love.â

A low growl escaped Sweeney as Mrs. Lovett threw her head back. He wasn't sure how much more he could take of her enjoying herself before he pulled her into his lap for a proper fuck.
"You don't really need me to take care of you, do you, pet?" he said with a smirk, slowing his pace as if he were going to withdraw his fingers. If he couldn't have her just yet, he could make the process that much more unbearable for her.
For the next five asks, my muse cannot tell a lie.

Sweeney frowned at her reaction, oblivious to what he had done wrong. âYou know what I meant, Nell.â
Taking a deep breath, he leaned back and held his hand out to take hers again. âIâm sorry. I just⌠How do you feel now?â
Mrs.Lovett bit her lip, feeling herself calm down once again when she heard Sweeney call her âNell.â He hardly ever called her that unless he wanted something from her, or he was truly sorry. She placed her hand back in his, lacing their fingers together as she thought about how to answer his question.
âWell Iâm annoyed now that youâve made me say all of that out loud,â She mumbled at first.Â
âBut Iâm not quite as sad any more soâŚthank you, I suppose.â
She gently lay her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
âTo tell the truth, Iâm more exhausted now. Dâyou think Iâm ill, Sweeney? Do you think thereâs something wrong with me?â
Sweeney wrapped an arm around Mrs. Lovett instantly when she rested her head against him. He could tell she was exhausted without her saying so, and kissed her head reassuringly as she spoke.
"Ill? Possibly. Not exactly a doctor, love. Doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, though."
The more he thought about it, the angrier he felt. He wanted to protect her, to tell her everything would be okay, but he had no way of knowing so. The best he could do was hold her and talk her through whatever she was feeling.
Sweeney relaxed a bit when Mrs. Lovett motioned for him to sit next to her. Seeing that it was hard for her to speak about what was wrong, he took her hand in his and did his best to not look frustrated. As she spoke, worry and guilt washed over him. He understood the loneliness all too well, but thisâŚ
How long had she felt this way? How long had she been hiding her feelings so well?
âYou should have told me.â
His words were sharp, but he meant them sincerely. She didnât deserve this, and he wanted to help any way he was able.
Mrs.Lovett felt strangely comforted when she felt Sweeney take her hand. Even if the gesture felt a bit odd and out of character at first, she knew it was the best he could manage.
His words, however, sparked a bit of anger inside of her.
âIâm telling you now, ainât that enough?â She said through gritted teeth.
âIâve been dealing with this for my entire life, ever since I can remember, and Iâve never told anyone. So consider yourself lucky,â She snapped again, pulling her hand away so that she could cross both arms across her chest.
Sweeney frowned at her reaction, oblivious to what he had done wrong. "You know what I meant, Nell."
Taking a deep breath, he leaned back and held his hand out to take hers again. "I'm sorry. I just... How do you feel now?"

Sweeney frowned at the bakerâs response. This was a serious situation and she was already belittling her own feelings. Though had he not suffered-or continued to suffer- through similar feelings, he supposed he would have shrugged it off as well.
âYou know very well that itâs more than that,â he said, sounding almost angry.
Whether it was at her or the problem at hand, he wasnât sure. Seeing her in such a state was enough to make him angry, though. Her red eyes with dark circles underneath were too much for a fake smile to hide and he hated that she still made the attempt to fool him.
Closing his eyes, he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. âJust talk to me. Please.â
Mrs.Lovett bit her lip, knowing she mustâve looked absolutely pathetic trying to fake a smile through the tears. She lowered her eyes to the floor, unable to look at him any longer. She could sense his frustration, and even though she knew it wasnât directed towards her, she couldnât help but shrivel back into her seat.Â
Once he looked at her, she forced herself to take a deep breath, knowing he wouldnât go away until she talked. How could he be so stubbornly endearing at the worst time?
Hesitantly, she moved over on the sofa, silently inviting him to come sit with her. He was much too intimidating looming over her like that.
âIâm miserable,â She whispered, staring into the fireplace. âI donât know why, it just happens sometimes. IâŚsometimes, I just canât think straight. Like my brain is-is buzzing withâŚwith a million different thoughts, but I canât understand any of them. And I get scared. And I realize Iâm alone, andâŚand, well, I fall apart occasionally.â

Mrs.Lovett jumped when she heard Sweeneyâs voice, hurriedly rubbing at her red, puffy eyes in a desperate attempt to create the facade that she had not, in fact, spent the entire afternoon crying her eyes out. The worst part of it all was that she didnât have anything to cry about. Not anything practical, at least. But these spells came about more constantly as she aged, and often she found herself feeling lethargic and helpless. She had nothing to live for, not really. The few interactions she had with Sweeney each day were just enough to perk her up for a second, but leave her feeling hopeless the rest of the day, once she realized how absolutely pathetic she was. He was never going to love her. She knew that. Yet, she couldnât fathom a life without him. And so every day, she would get her hopes up in the morning, and be heartbroken by the afternoon. It was absolute misery.
Staring up at the barber, she forced the corners of her lips up into a small smile.
âWhat could I have said, hm?â She asked in a bitter tone.
ââSweeney, Iâm sad, pay attention to meâ? Iâve still got a scrap of dignity, thank you very much.â
Sweeney frowned at the baker's response. This was a serious situation and she was already belittling her own feelings. Though had he not suffered-or continued to suffer- through similar feelings, he supposed he would have shrugged it off as well.
"You know very well that it's more than that," he said, sounding almost angry.

Closing his eyes, he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Just talk to me. Please."
Sweeney was silent for a long time, not sure where he would go. This was all he knew, but he couldnât stay here. And after all this time⌠Could he really go on without Mrs. Lovett?
âCome with me.â
The words were so soft, he wasnât entirely sure he had spoken them aloud.
Mrs.Lovett raised her eyebrows, even letting out a breathy laugh at Sweeneyâs request. Where they going to run away like two star crossed lovers now? He couldnât possibly be serious, could he?
After a moment of silence, the baker knew his offer was sincere, and before she could even properly think it through, she heard herself replying with an âAlright.â
At that very moment, she didnât care about the shop or the house or anything. Sheâd leave everything she knew behind to be with Mr.Todd.Â
Sweeney's hand tightened around hers, feeling more than a little foolish when she laughed. He knew it was ridiculous notion, but the thought was nice. He thought through the few possibilities available to them, wishing it were possible to simply pick up and leave. Maybe go to the seaside like Mrs. Lovett had always talked about.
When the baker spoke, he wasn't sure if he'd heard her right. All right? Maybe she had a plan. Mrs. Lovett was the practical one, always thinking ahead to protect them. Perhaps he was getting ahead of himself, but God, he wanted out so badly. He raised his head and looked at her, feeling a rush of emotion as he saw how sincere she was, her brown eyes no longer dull and lifeless as they had been moments ago.
"Thank you."

I honestly thought people were adding your URL with the prompts/starters to suggest you respond, as Sweeney?
That is a possibility, but considering that I didnât send the prompts in and didnât choose to do them, Iâd prefer it if people didnât do that. I also feel like itâs rude to my partners who assume that it is me sending asks when itâs not. Thank you for pointing that out though. :)
Sweeney watched her carefully. Her breathing was uneven, shaky, and she looked as if she would fall to pieces at any moment. This was not the woman he knew. Squeezing her hand unconsciously, he turned his gaze to the floor.
âI donât want this.â
It felt like the washed out walls were closing in on him. Yes, it would kill her if he left, but it would kill him to stay. There was too much in this dreary place holding him back, suffocating him.
Mrs.Lovett felt her heart stop for a moment when Sweeney gave her hand a small squeeze. His words felt like a slap in the face, but as she stared up at his grimaced face, she knew he was truly hurting. It pained her to know how much he was suffering here with her, and as much as she wanted him to be content and free, it terrified her to think of a life without him.
âWhere will you go?â She asked, never looking away from him.
Sweeney was silent for a long time, not sure where he would go. This was all he knew, but he couldn't stay here. And after all this time... Could he really go on without Mrs. Lovett?
"Come with me."
The words were so soft, he wasn't entirely sure he had spoken them aloud.

Sweeney sat down at the table, adjusting Gabriel in his lap. It was hard to stay irritated with him; he was only a baby, after all. Perhaps being a little clingy on occasion wouldnât hurt anything.
âWant me to feed him?â he asked when Nellie finished cooking and preparing their plates.
Mrs.Lovett let out a small sigh and gave her husband a small shrug when he asked if he wanted her to feed the baby. Truthfully, she wanted to be the one to feed their child for the first time. Sheâd been feeling rather left out of things lately, since she was always stuck with doing the cooking and cleaning for everyone, which meant that Sweeney got to take care of the baby.
Mumbling a small, bitter, âSure,â the baker turned back to the stove to slide their breakfast onto plates.
Sweeney raised a brow, noticing how disappointed Nellie seemed. He was only trying to help out as much as he could. As she brought the plates over and sat down, he handed Gabriel over.
"You don't have to sound so pissy about it."

Sweeney flinched when she took his hand, her warmth feeling like a shock against his cold skin. It was times like this when he wish he could leave. Pack up in the middle of the night without another word, nor a note left behind. Wouldnât they both be better off without each other?
He ignored her plea. The agonizing words he had heard so often from her were too much right now. She could get by without him. Sheâd done so before. But as he watched her eyes grow dark with pain, that familiar warmth fading to nothing, he knew it would kill her.
Yet, it didnât stop him from saying, âYou could learn to forget me.â
Mrs.Lovett inhaled a shaky breath as she studied the stern expression on Mr.Toddâs face. She knew he was considering his options; whether or not the cost of leaving her heartbroken would be worth the liberty of being on his own in the great wide world. She knew this conversation was inevitable, yet ever since the barber came back, she feared losing him. Having Sweeney back with her felt like a dream- it always felt too good to be true, and she knew one day he would fade away, and she would be left wondering if she had imagined the whole thing.
She let out a small, sad scoff at his words, and shook her head as she looked away.
âNo, I couldnât do that if I tried. And trust meâŚI have tried.â
Sweeney watched her carefully. Her breathing was uneven, shaky, and she looked as if she would fall to pieces at any moment. This was not the woman he knew. Squeezing her hand unconsciously, he turned his gaze to the floor.

âIf I ever leave, I could learn to miss you.â myarmiscompleteagain

Mrs.Lovett frowned at the barberâs statement, her heartbeat accelerating at the mere thought of him leaving. She shook her head in denial, moving closer to take hold of one of his hands.
âDonât miss me,â She said, boldly staring into his cold dark eyes.
âLove me.â
Sweeney flinched when she took his hand, her warmth feeling like a shock against his cold skin. It was times like this when he wish he could leave. Pack up in the middle of the night without another word, nor a note left behind. Wouldn't they both be better off without each other?

Yet, it didn't stop him from saying, "You could learn to forget me."
Sweeney flinched as Gabriel started screaming again. âItâs in the nursery. Let me have him and you can fix him up some breakfast.â
Taking the child from her, he walked off to the nursery to search for the pacifier. Gabriel was only whimpering lightly now, clinging tightly to Sweeneyâs shirt.
âDa,â he mumbled pitifully, and Sweeney couldnât help but smile.
âDaddaâs here,â Sweeney said, bouncing him lightly in his arms.
He held the pacifier up to Gabriel, who latched onto it instantly. Joining Nellie in the kitchen, he tried to set Gabriel in his high chair, only for the child to start whimpering again.
âHeâs going to be so fucking clingy,â Sweeney muttered, picking him back up.
Mrs.Lovett reluctantly handed Sweeney their son and followed them into the kitchen. She felt her heart warm when Sweeney spoke to the little boy, and couldnât help but smirk when Gabriel refused to let go of him.
âAw, he loves âis daddy. Ainât nothinâ wrong with that,â She told him with a pout.
âAlright, my love, weâre going to try some beans this morning, alright?â She spoke to her son with a smile as she prepared their usual breakfast and smashed a small amount of the beans she cooked.
