Right back at ya, âTough Guy.â
He was oblivious to the struggle she was going through, and if he actually knew about the thoughts which constantly coursed through her head, he wouldâve tried everything to understand and ease the troubles swimming across the seas of her mind. Yet, currently, there was nothing he could show but tender smile, for Jake did not know anything about the powerful nature she belonged to. Perhaps it would be difficult to swallow, but not impossible, because beyond all intricacies, the boy simply found it unimaginable to let her go, for she was his everything, what he wanted and needed the most.
âYou donât know?â He lifted his brows and almost gasped, promptly depositing dulcet kisses upon her forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. âWhat about now?â A chuckle escaped him, though once Rachel stopped him with a tug, he couldnât help but stare at those beautiful eyes of hers; to get lost in that soft, timid gaze aligned with sentence that symbolized reciprocation. Lord, he had it bad for her, but he adored being lovesick to all she was.  Free hand moved to slip under her chin and without a doubt, he leaned in to get a sweet taste of her lips.
She wanted to tell him. She needed to tell him. Couldnât she see that he wouldnât leave her? That he was in this just as much as she was? For the long run? She just -- didnât want him to judge her the way others had, or assume that she put some kind of âspellâ on him to make him believe he was in love with her. That was all real, so real, too real, and far too much to her own liking -- but it had happened. Ever since the day she had kissed him on a whim. They had fallen head over heels, oblivious to the outer-world, in love...and it would seem, she had fallen first.Â
As he intently peppered the kisses from forehead to chin upon her skin, a gentle grin was found upon her features, so delicate and true. He made her feel so at ease in circumstances where she felt like running away...but, any chance to spend with him was better than not being with him at all just because she was terrified he might find out about her âcorruptedâ DNA. Suddenly, as his free hand slipped beneath her chin, her heart practically lurched forward, concluding in its actions. Breath removed from her lungs in sweet serendipity as he leaned in to steal a kiss, and with that, she melted tenderly into him, bridging the gap between them and draping her arms around his shoulders, best she could considering the slight difference in height. She felt as though she may be floating -- which actually frightened her...because well, she could do that. Float, or fly.Â
It was because of that, she pushed back from the kiss, palms flattening out against his shoulder blades, brows drawing tightly together. Her bright baby blues widened as she peered down at her feet, which were firmly planted on the Earth below her. A great sigh of relief overcame her and she began to laugh before pressing her forehead against his and drawing him nearer again, knowing he would find her actions quite cryptic.Â
âSorry. I--I began to feel so dizzy I felt myself falling.â Valid response, considering she knew he understood how that felt. âOr...felt like I was falling.â She concluded in a whisper as her eyes met his once more. Rachel breathed in and out slowly, fingertips very delicately curling against his shoulders as she memorized his familiar features, never wanting to let him go. All a daze, her eyes actually began to glaze over, and she gasped, blinking and looking away from him, heart filtered in bits of anguish that she just could not tell him what she was...Ray mentally scolded herself for not  willing to trust him, that he might just stay. He wasnât just anyone, after all, he was her âTough Guyâ. Her Jake. HER Jake.Â
