verses | dccu/snyder!verse.
verse title: *dccu / *men are still good. / solemn warnings. / other. muse(s): *anna kendrick / emma roberts. * = main. incorporated tags: dccu, snyder!verse, {men are still good}, {v3}, {v4}.
synopsis: (Based mainly on Zack Snyder’s storyline arc for ‘Men of Steel’ and ‘Dawn of Justice’ & partially on Scott Snyder’s comic arc “Death of the Family”). Barbara Gordon is Commissioner (of Gotham) James Gordon’s daughter. Born and raised within the confines of the southern coast island. As a young girl she witnessed her father become increasingly bitter with age and cognizance of the war on crime; the scum that filtered the streets of Gotham, but he always seemed to have a soft spot for her. Generally, James was a great father, always watching out for the benefit of his family above anything else. Barb’s education was also exceptionally important. In high school she sought out straight A’s and graduated at the top of her class, valedictorian no less. Of course ‘BATMAN’ had made his first sightings when she was in her teens, nearer to her Junior/Senior year. The 16-year-old blue-eyed redhead sought to graduate as early as possible, and zealously began interning at ‘Wayne Enterprises’ to seek further qualification for the Ivy League proselytism. It was there, of course, she encountered Mr. Bruce Wayne himself (who was most likely wary that she was James’ daughter and thus skeptical that she may discover his ‘night time occupation’). Even though Barbara had taken note of his odd behavior, she mostly assumed it was because of his idealistic ‘Bachelor’ behavior. Partying all night, groggy all day, bruised and battered – and had she seen blood or…jam on his shirt a time or two?? – In college, Barbara had many the opportunity to get away from the ever accumulating crime capital of the world. And yet, she had no true desire to escape from it, she wanted to help. Whilst her father’s continual cooperation with ‘the bat’, she had grown to know the creature well. Babs remained in Gotham through her college years, studying at a nearby university to seek out her doctorate in library and computer sciences. While working among the archives of Bruce’s business, Barbara began to place the pieces of Bruce’s second identity. She confronted him, in which he initially denied any and all affiliation with the masked vigilante. With her ever growing frustration, Barbara dawned her own costume. ‘Batgirl’ she became (without his permission). She took to the night only to save his life. The pair (along with ‘Robin’/’Pixie Boots’) began to work side by side without revealing each other’s true identity, until one night when Barbara was nearly stricken to death, it was Bruce’s turn to save her life. Within Wayne Manor, Bruce, Alfred, and Robin (most likely, Dick Grayson) nursed her back to good condition in which things grew a bit too tedious and it was quite obvious that Bruce could no longer keep his darkest secrets consumed. All the while Barbara studied for her degree and began to fight the crime her father so despised. Little did she know it would be at the cost of many. Specifically, those most dearest to her. Her mother no longer felt safe in her own homestead, severing the close relationship Barbara believed her father and mother had – they never truly divorced, but she moved as far away as was possible, taking Barbara’s younger brother, James Jr., along with her…But, it was of little to no use when ‘The Joker’ decided to initiate revenge for unfinished business with the ‘Bat-family’. The first string came during (something similar to) ‘The Killing Joke’. The Joker sought psychological warfare at its best. In which, he shot Barbara hoping to have killed her (when in reality he had left her (temporarily) paralyzed). Barbara fought tooth and nail, through many painful days and nights of physical therapy and discussions with specialists, therapists and medical officials alike to get back on her legs. She continued on as ‘Oracle’ rather than ‘Batgirl’ keeping a low profile, still working on her health along the way. The second string came during ‘Death of the Family’. The Joker stopped at nothing to taunt ‘The Bat’ (& the nearly retired Commissioner Gordon) hitting him wherever it hurt (it’s no wonder we see a very cynical and exhausted Bruce). The Joker stalked Barbara’s mother, inevitably severing her ring finger, and proposing marriage with said removed limb to ‘Batgirl’. There was a false (botched) wedding ceremony (in which of course the marriage turned out to be illegal), yet Barbara was held captive and tortured, her limbs almost cut clean off. Together Bruce & Barbara broke Batman’s golden rule, and defeated (more or less killed) The Joker. During the entirety of this stint, James discovered Barbara’s identity as ‘Batgirl/Oracle’ and very nearly disowned her. He couldn’t condone her actions merely because he did not want to lose her, let alone to the bitterness and truest evil of Gotham City. Her relationship with James isn’t fully severed, merely broken a bit, as she wasn’t afraid to call him out on his hypocrisy when it comes to his stance on vigilante antics (all those years supporting and protecting Batman). But, for his own protection, Barbara has kept her distance, unable to cope with the aspect of his death at her own hand. Within the third string (a younger) ‘Robin’ was killed (presumably Jason) in a brutal (and sadistic, no doubt) all-out battle with ‘The Joker’ in which he was beaten and left for dead. (Snyder confirmed that his ‘Robin’ is indeed deceased, and has been for 10 years before the time of BvS – following pretty closely to the ‘Death of the Family’ storyline). (During BvS: Dawn of Justice/Snyder’s film) (the way I see it). Barbara first comes into the picture with bright azure eyes surveying the sky from way up top of Wayne Enterprises (the Metropolis division) found smack dab in the middle of ‘Superman’s’ battle with General Zod. She (along with Bruce, below) witness the uncontrollable destruction. Lucky enough for her, she managed to get to lower ground before Zod’s laser-vision went completely haywire, inevitably destroying the Wayne building. Her leg was caught against all the rubble (woman cannot catch a clean break when it comes to her legs) where Bruce eventually found her, dragging her to safety. For a good chunk of the story/film, I imagine Barbara spent quite a bit of time with Alfred on the ‘Oracle’ program (or otherwise shown as the computer program within the batcave), also within confines of a wheelchair referencing her time as the ‘Oracle’, but also showcasing she has no desire to return to her bat suit, having retired that long ago. Of course, she transitioned from wheelchair to crutches, and from crutches to two workable limbs. She along with Alfred are Bruce’s (Batman’s) eyes and ears.

alright sukkas. i am bringing babs back on the contingency that i can get mains/exclusives. i’ve decided that the only way i can fly is if i can focus on a pretty centric family. this isn’t to say i won’t interact with more than of one character...UNLESS i decide i’m going to be exclusive with someone, this does not mean it has to be a mutual exclusivity, it just means on my end, if you don’t mind, i will choose not to write with anyone else utilizing that character. SUCH AS the discussion that made me want to bring babs back to begin with, w/ @nogcd. I AM exclusive with their clark. so that means i won’t be writin’ w/any other clarks. just for my own sanity. i highly doubt i’ll be exclusive w/a bruce, because i love way too many of you, but i will have mains!! & you’ll get your own verses, yada yada. i just need to be organized if this is going to work. & linds. you know you’re my number one clown. @kniivesandlint. so yeah!! i’m back. back/ish. i still need to organize/pull this blog together, but yes. hello!!

The most destructive thing I’ve ever done was believe someone else’s opinion of me. — Teal Blue Jay.
I just saw this quote, and I think it is SO important! Please, please, please remember this when you are feeling down. People/others should never define who you are! You are special and you matter. And this is even difficult for myself to believe. I’ve been kicked down SO many freaking times it makes me want to rip my hair out! And I’ve had to remind myself that most of the time, when people lash out, there’s something going on in their own head or heart, some poison in their own lives taking over. Essentially: don’t be destructive, trust and believe in yourself. YOU are amazing. (via mxrvclgirl)

I didn’t know you’d catch the knife. I believed you could catch the knife. I wanted you to catch the knife. There was no way I could know. You’re the one who did it. You’re the one who knew.
