Was inspired to do a meme redraw after one of @thwarp’s bonus doodles. And then I took it off the shelf with all the exploration of these sexless creatures in more recent doodles.

I think it would less about seeing how humAnn looks, and more about seeing that old her has continued making progress and is still trying.

Seeing her be excited enough to share awkward early transition progress on social medias, learning the new name she finally picked out for herself, seeing that she worked up the courage to finally come out and that her idiot “boys” didn’t leave her.

while old her is still out there, having to deal with voice training, the way people looked at her, injections/constant shaving/the body upkeep tasks, all of the parts of herself that she “accepted” but hated deep down, and the intense self critical dysphoria that she knows didn’t go away in 7-8 months

She is proud that other her is still going, but she does feel guilty that other her still has to be out there fighting the same old fights. While she just gets to sit here and effortlessly be a version of herself she is very happy to be

learning to love myself.

Bestie, this may not be the time to isolate yourself with your shame-fed brain worms.

While I’ve largely been going full “eff it, I’m leaning into being visibly trans”, I have the benefit of living in an area and working with people that are generally super supportive, so I’ve got it easier than most and the decision isn’t as hard to make.

Some of the venues I’ll find myself in less frequently however, I admit I get antsy about my presentation.

It’s bizarre, there was literally someone at an event once that told me they read my comics and were really proud and supportive of me while also telling me that they voted for people that are not only directly harming trans people, but that they said they were going to harm trans people and other marginalized communities.

Now, I was working and in a position where causing a scene wouldn’t be a great idea.  So I had to stand there, smile, and say “aww thank you for your support” to someone who pulled their political lever to take away my right to exist.

The cognitive dissonance of this person to say that to me.  To say that you love me and support me, to call me “brave”, while when it comes to actually doing something practical, they actively are participating in stripping me of my rights.

And then I have to stand there, take it, and to smile.

While I’m speaking about one experience in particular, it isn’t the only one.  This has happened multiple times and I imagine it will continue to happen.

I've been seeing people draw Jax in cute goth outfits all over social media and I think that's neat!

While clothes are a part of the goth subculture I do enjoy and participate in myself I wanted to add an extra bit of appreciation for the music. Nothing hits like a well placed The Cure album on a particularly hard day. I'm sure she'd agree~
