loudsnake ✦ mango guy.
what! red feels his face morph into one of surprise, eyes widening, nostrils flaring at the audacity of his newest enemy. because that’s what the stranger has become– there are, of course, other mangos. but red wants that one. red’s eyebrow twitches with annoyance as he reads the other’s lips; no!
hand outstretched, red points two fingers at the mango, a kido spell building up at his fingertips. the weak seki shoots out quickly to create a little barrier in front of the mango, with the intent to repel the other’s hand if he continues to reach for it. he’s just a man on a mission; failure is unacceptable.“Get your own.” he signs, though it occurs to red after the fact that this other shinigami might not be able to sign.
“... ...” hand bounces back from the guarded mango—he is left with an uncomfortable tingle that runs from nails to knuckles, then up to his lower arm. granted, this is not the first time a person has discourteously withdrawn an offer towards him ... but he would admit that resorting to techniques meant for battle was an unusual sight. “s’cuse me——there seems to be something in the way ... ,” he mumbles; gives the other man a long-drawn side glance that is filled with neither indignation nor impatience ( although, perhaps, a little bit of indecision ). “... mind if i do ... ... ?” and then he simply does, long before an answer could follow; gives the stall table filled with fruit a semi-determined KICK and watches the chosen mango ( along with 2-3 of its siblings ) tumble down towards the ground.
hakusui ✦ goro-san.
“ huh? what do you mean ditching me here? ”
uncharacteristically enough, goro’s usually lenient expression turns bitter almost. after a sigh, his brows slant downward and his lips purse into a thin line. seiichiro, somehow, has managed to stretch his patience so thin. normally, he’d overlook any sort of shortcomings from his comrade’s part, but this time, he can’t seem to restrain his growing frustration. “ listen, i’m know that you don’t want to stand out, but you’re literally part of the mission, ” he explains, aware that seiichiro’s most definitely in need of another briefing. and while he’s at it, he makes sure to deliver it appropriately. despite the previous letdown, his voice remains steady; smooth almost. “ had you been paying attention, you would‘ve known what i mean. captain kyoraku asked for you specifically. you’re our only way out. ”
“... ... ... ?” were he a machine, the smoke caused by gears turning a slight bit too ardently would’ve made this room a hazard zone by now. et tu? perhaps getting too comfortable around superiors had been a mistake—the captain commander’s betrayal shall not slip his mind so soon. “... no ... let me FORGET ‘bout that part again.” a sigh. “goro-san ... ... aren’t you exaggerating a bit?” there is a reason ignorance is a bliss: one could remain unworried and unbothered by other people’s scheming. and most important: it made for a free ticket out of inconvenient situations. usually. voice a mere, displeased mumble, he averts his gaze. “——more like—y’gotta be kidding me ... ... how’s it that a hall full of seated officers can’t come up with a strategy that’s a ‘lil more reliable? what’re you guys hoping to do ... ? cut down on travel times—? ... it’s not that simple.”
assorted seiichis, w his sweet-tooth exposed & his specific reiatsu ‘flow’ which swirls around his body instead of radiating ( obligatory ability post link ).
superiors being like ‘stop skipping training sessions’ clearly unaware that running from responsibilities is a sport and he’s a whole marathon champion

loudsnake ✦ mango guy.
red does most of the sixth division’s grocery shopping. it started as a punishment, but it turned out that his unwavering, dead eyed stare could intimidate many a merchant into giving him better deals, if only to keep him from scaring away other customers.
now, as grey eyes move away from the juicy looking mango he was going to grab, he wonders if that stare might work on another shinigami. only one way to find out. red points to the mango sternly, mission explicit: secure the fruit. with another motion, he jerks his thumb at himself, meaning hopefully clear: mine.
a few quiet moments pass before he responds with a slow blink, evidently realizing late that the other man’s attention had been meant for him. unfortunate. he’d meant to blend in with the crowd and get this over with briskly to then wallow in the afternoon sun before moving inside for a follow-up nap. not get stuck in a stare-off with a guy he only marginally remembers seeing around before. “... ?” gaze drifts towards the mango. fair point. fruit goes well with summer days—this one must be just about perfectly ripe, too.
“oh ... you mean to treat me? thanks,” he answers lazily at last and REACHES for the sweet snack. his.
hakusui ✦ goro-san.
“ the briefing’s about to come to an end. what do you think of the plan? ” goro’s words hang in the air like ghosts, for it appears that not a single one of them has managed to protrude the thick barrier that is kihara’s concentration. his immediate concern doesn’t become apparent until after he tries to prod seiichi’s flank with his elbow and gaining no response still. the barren stare has him almost nervous. desperate, as the post meeting interviews were just about to begin, he tries to shake him awake, subtly, without seeming too inconspicuous to their superiors. “ seiichiro-kun! … seiichiro-kun! … were you even listening? ”
he turns after a while, dazed gaze clearing as he regards his companion with increasing skepticism in turn. “... ? i haven’t,” he replies, unapologetic of his faux pas ( on the contrary—perhaps even a little proud ). “... what d’you mean—? any kinda complicated mission’s not gonna involve me anyway.” unless, of course, one of the few captains unaffected by his lazy dalliances decided that he could be an asset in one way or another. much to his chagrin, this now has happened more than once. the lesson is an obvious one: he ought to step it down a notch. ... and absolutely blow the chance to get recruited into a foolish, danger-ridden field trip he never wanted to be part of. “i’m sorry, goro-san ... ... ... i’m planning on ditching you here.”
[ li ] the way she stares at aizen is mirthful, and dark. bright golden gaze is narrowed unhappily, her stance casual and yet tight and rigid. phony. full of falsehoods. and li has never trusted him, not a moment, not from the first time she'd watched him walk through the door. she isn't quite sure why she feels such... malice, as she looks at his preening, kindly face --
as she feels seiichi sidle up beside her, all remnants of distrustful glaring are swept from her face as she turns to him, a soft smile overtaking her face instead. she'd mull on this some other time.... " hello. "
he would admit without caveat that he had yet to fully grasp the intricacies that governed the relationships of one division with another. too little was the time he'd spent as a de facto member of the fifth—even shorter the time he'd concerned himself with this place's politics. still, it's a surprise; to have his captain otherwise so well-liked so scrutinized to the point he almost feels guilty by association when he catches a glimpse of his colleague's baleful stare.
this one, he knows to be no ungentle soul either ( albeit a somewhat intimidating one nonetheless )—the feuds she could have with another person are limited in his mind. "... li-dono," salutations are skipped on his part—not because he means to be brusque, but because the question at hand has fully overtaken his thoughts. "has the captain done something that bothers you?"
sneezes - _ -
he leans over, not only unconcerned about the fact that he's been here for hours, uninvited, possibly disturbing several people's work routine ( although it should be said that a normally unmoving, nap-loving object such as himself is unlikely to cause problems )—but just as nonchalant about invading the personal space of his always-busy colleague, potentially contagious disease on the move or not. "... akon-san, d'you want me to make some chicken soup? ... ... 'm not sure whether the thing i saw in this place's fridge earlier was a chicken or not——but i s'pose it'll do ... ?"

𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒. She wasn’t, but that was only due to her buried history of ‘family business’. She’d also taken a good chunk of change from other officers over the years with these dice, but she liked to think herself flexible in terms of stakes.
❝ I’ve never turned down a pocketed favor. ❞
“... that’ll work,” he agrees, voice as indistinct as his presence itself. one good turn deserves another—favors that are result of reciprocity are acceptable in spite of his aversion towards near any sort of labor which dictates his life otherwise. “—please go easy on me, then ... i’m thinkin’ i’ll choose odds.”

kageoni ✦ (cpt. commander).
‘ despite the difference in the methods they might use, the finality is similar, if you ask me. ’ it’s not often that he gets to witness seiichi take initiative so solemnly. especially when it comes to elaborating such sinuous topics. however, kyoraku knows just how much his comrade values mythology, so he stirs the pot just a tad further. ‘ what’s a man without a heart, after all? be it figurative or quite the real thing. ’ he murmurs, his voice echoing unserious disheartenment. a brow is lifted and a smile is shot in seiichi’s direction. ‘ tell me, seiichi-kun, have you ever had your heart stolen? ’
eyes narrow in a moment of unlikely clarity; this conversation is taking a turn he feels the need to approach with caution ( blatant defensiveness, even—although it’s not unlikely his own ears are deaf to that particular hue in his voice ). “my heart’s not so helpless that it could be stolen without my agreement. ... and if there’s agreement, y'can hardly speak of theft.” his head tilts as if to denote flimsy skepticism then; he’d make an attempt, at least, to return to less churning waters. “... ... 's that so, though ... ? i would think they’re worlds apart. a man without life will never return to your side. a man without heart might recover in time.”
kageoni ✦ (cpt. commander).
had the discussion not been laden such heavy undertones, perhaps he would have laughed at seiichi’s manner of describing this particular happenstance. ‘ i don’t see why not. there are many creatures in the world that we have little to no information on. ’ noticing just how easily seiichi immersed himself in this telltale, ( as drifting off mid conversation was not uncommon ) he decides to add more some more fuel to this fire. ‘ have you heard of tsuara onna? she’s oftentimes confused with yuki onna. ’
needless to say, the plan succeeds; his voice tinted with a boastfulness when he shows himself affirmative. “— i have.” such must be the perks of growing up near obscure shrines and with caretakers fond of just as recondite mythology. “there are some people who say that hail during springtime stems from icicle women who are crying after being forgotten too soon in the wake of warmer seasons.” ( and though that particular myth had been somewhat debunked in his eyes by now, certain weather fronts remained ever-eerie ). “but ... it’s not difficult to tell them apart. one wants to tear your life asunder, and the other your heart.”

𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑. More often than not, she’d leave it be, but boredom was far more an irritating presence. Easily rectified though, or so she thought. A set of dice were deftly slipped from her shirt to her fingertips as she held them up in offering.
❝ You gamble? ❞
gaze drifted slowly to his companion while a response began to form in the back of his throat just as leisurely. it wasn’t difficult to pique his interest with games of most sort; however his paltry funds did limit the viability of some. “... i’m broke.” his finger rose to vaguely gesture at the gambling equipment in the other’s hand. “—unless y’had different stakes in mind ... ?”
LET ME ASSIGN YOU A LOVE LANGUAGE. tagged by @kageoni
violent devotion.
Everyone seems to think you are faithless, but the thing is you haven’t yet found someone who will bring you to your knees and make you raise your head in reverence. This world has stopped bringing you joy, you want more of the divine. You want to dedicate your entire existence to someone; you want to make them realize they are not something terrible, make them see just how much beauty they are bringing to this world. You want to be the only one for them, the only one they have chosen to love. There’s a god shaped pit inside of you and only they can fit in it. And what if they choose to walk away? Didn’t I say this was violent devotion?

MICRO STARTER for @muyuun
❝ OUCH! Guess that was my bad. I didn’t see ya. ❞
“aah ...” an ungentle collision—but he’s had many of those. spacing out in the streets here, sleepwalking across patios there ... it ruffles him little; his body recovers its balance swift and effortlessly. ( and if the other man is so keen on taking the blame he wouldn’t stop him. there are more pressing matters on his mind ). “hold up—take this.” he presents the unfortunate, unsuspecting soul with a cheap butterfly net: an unspoken invitation ... or a request? take it as you may. “‘s no point in looking around here, though. follow me.”
