let's hustle !

Edward listened to the young male talk about how he missed home with a hint of sadness. He missed home too yet he missed it for different reasons, mostly because of all the home comforts he’d been afforded back home. “ Not really it’s a normal human response when one goes through traumatic things.” 

“it’s lame to miss school dude” tommy said, with a shrug. but he wasn’t going to say much on missing his family. he didn’t need to remind himself that he missed billy. but that wasn’t something he was going to tell a totalt stranger. 

“all my tech is there, man. plus i actually get on pretty well with most of my teachers.” he shrugged, his words almost prideful. “you don’t miss school?”

“no, it’s not lame.” barbara offered miles a sincere smile, being able to relate to how he felt. “i think we all feel the same way,” she emitted a sigh before continuing. “i know i do. i’d just love to hear from my dad somehow — and to be able to use my laptop again. if there was a way we could do that, i think the whole mansion would greatly appreciate it.”

“i can believe it.” kate shrugs. “and yeah, it is lame - but i get it. it fucking sucks being stuck here, not knowing if we’re gonna make it back.”

Ted knows that he shouldn’t be out here, no, not while something was clearly wrong. He doesn’t know what it was exactly, but there was no time to stop and go see a doctor. He settles on ignoring it for now. “They’re gone for now. I don’t like any of this either, kid.”

“do you know anything that’s going on? are you alright?”

The girl pokes her head through the wall, looking both ways to confirm the coast is clear. “Yeah. I think we’re good.” She grabs Miles by the arm and drags him from their hiding spot. “I don’t like it either, but we’ve gotta fight back somehow. Come on.”

Sigyn shakes her head in response to the younger man’s question. “No, they have not yet left. I fear they will keep attempting to destroy this place and us along with it. But we will outlast them, I truly believe that.” 

“that’s easy enough for a god to say, huh?”

the fellow spider jumped once he saw miles reappear, shaking his head as he tried to gather his breath. “what the hell, dude! i-i could’ve like seriously hurt you or — something.” peter exclaimed as he tugged at his hoodie, shielding his suit from the detection of on-lookers and worse, the sentinels. “yeah, me either. but we gotta keep moving before they return.”

“uh -- no offence but i don’t think you will...i’m kinda more powerful than you.” miles scratched the back of his mask. “you want to go?”

“jesus christ!” mj almost screams, figure whipping around to face the spider that just seemed to appear. these heroes never stopped amazing her. “you scared the heck out of me.” she replies in a whisper, arms crossing over her chest. “but i think they are, yeah. at least it looks like it.”
