I woke up today with a question about support Izuku fics.
It's always how Izuku always has homeroom where he gets to tinker and stuff and then there's the normal lessons. But like shouldn't support course idk teach how to build support stuff?? Surely you can't be all Hatsume and be self taught. And yeah doing it yourself teaches something but shouldn't there still be some lessons?
I have never seen a fic where Powerloader actually teaches anything. (At least I don't think) I mean ask this with no hate. I am mearly confused.
Coming from someone (slowly coming back into) writing a SupportCourse!Izuku fic, I personally try alluding to the fact that they take like.. Circuits, Costuming 101, engineering and such but homegirl dropped out of engineering school specifically because of circuits class so I know *I* can’t write it in any way that’ll make sense…
I think it’s also why we barely see any core classes in the manga and anime, they’re just not as fun as the heroics classes! Hope that helps!
Traditional Fantasy AU! Yuu who lives with Idia and Ortho in a little town next to the dungeon tm everyone’s adventuring through. Idia's there as part of his duties with S.T.Y.X. keeping an eye on the monsters and the strange resurrections of mages the labrynth allows.
TFAU! Yuu who has no memories before being woken up by Grim in the bed Idia's set aside for them, but has a strange draw to the labrynth and a need to go somewhere in it.
TFAU! Idia who gently forbids them from going, and tries to distract them by teaching them how to make and upkeep various machinery adventures might need, but still insists on teaching them how to shoot a gun. Just in case.
TFAU! Ortho who sneaks out to adventure every once in a while and tells Yuu all about the dungeon and convinces them they need to go even more. They talk about how much fun it would be to go through the floors with Idia, and try to come up with ways to convince him to come with them.
TFAU! Yuu who finds themselves in the Adventures Guild one day to drop off an order and see a red headed idiot talking about what easy money the job he's looking at will be and they can't help but laugh.
"Can't you see it's a scam? That's waaaay too much money for such a simple job!"
TFAU! Ace who gets really mad and starts an argument with the local magicless weirdo about how he could totally do this job, they just wouldn't know because they're stupid, which causes a fight between him, you, your cat, and some random fighter who swears he just wanted to talk things out (promise!) that breaks a bunch of expensive items in the guild and now you have to take the job or go to jail.
TFAU! Ramshackle Party of first years all really happy with their unexpected success in the dungeon... until Idia shows up clearly worried out of his mind over Yuu and legitimately angry that they went into the dungeon, equally terrified when Ortho confirms he's been sneaking out too.
"Promise you'll stick to the upper levels. And no entering melee. And keep together. And-"
TFAU! Idia who goes back to his desk and stares at a letter he's been meaning to send since you woke up months ago, hands shaking as he thinks about what the others will say if they find out he's been lying about your condition. If they find out he's letting you go back there again.

Literally this! I feel like with all the stress of trying to soothe Riddle, Trey easily could have overblotted before him or even directly after Riddle did. Trey is also similar to Jamil in the sense that he doesn’t showcase all of his abilities and sticks to being “an average student” (ie his Gym Uniform vignette). Granted, no, he doesn’t have the same motivations as Jamil but it still takes a lot of effort to actively tamp down your abilities just so you don’t stick out.
SPEAKING OF ABILITIES ID LIKE TO RANT ABOUT DOODLE SUIT/PAINT THE ROSES (depending on the Japanese or English version)
This guy was pretty much the only reason everyone survived Riddles overblot. He single-handedly overwrote Riddles signature spell with his own but he uses it for party tricks to change the taste of peoples food. Add Overblotting to that, which only further increases the capabilities of these guys’ Signature Spells and Trey would be so hard to beat!
Not the mention the drama of the one nice normal guy on campus suddenly snapping??? The mad hatter AND the King of hearts motif’s they could bring in (cuz let’s be real, Trey is a cardsoldier sure, but as Vice he’s also just like the King in Disneys Alice). Hell, I can even see his phantom shifting as he changes properties to better suit his needs.
Anyway I think it would be really interesting to have these other characters not directly tied to one specific Disney Villian Overblott. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
Some middle of the night thoughts about the enrollment process at Night Raven College as I desperately try to draft up a story but there’s so much about this school that I just don’t understand!
(slight spoilers for Book 7):
In the beginning of the game, it’s heavily stated that not just anyone can get into NRC, the Black Carriage has to arrive for you, something Grim had been waiting for for a while
I had always assumed there would be some kind of application process and basically you don’t know that you’ve made it until it shows up, right?
we find out from Lilia that he had received his acceptance letter like 500 years ago out of the blue, no application needed. Thus debunking my previous theories
But that was 500 years ago, surely the process must have changed?
It could have, but it’s implied that Lilia only changed his mind once Malleus was accepted. He fished out his old letter from the archives and was able to enroll simply because he had it
Even Crowley said he’d never imagine someone would show up with a 500 year old acceptance letter
SO, based on purely the way Crowley is when it comes to school traditions, I don’t think much - if anything - has changed
So to sum up what we know (or what makes sense to me so far): Teenagers across Twisted Wonderland’s only hope of going to NRC isn’t some mysterious Black Carriage randomly appearing at your house to whisk you away like I dreaded- it’s a mysterious Black Envelope arriving at your house to congratulate you on getting in!
At least you get some kind of heads up which is nice, right? There must be some way of accepting your enrollment via the letter, then the Carriage loads you up in your coffin come the start of the school year to bring you to orientation
(Don’t even get me started on orientation, I’ve been trying to crack this code between the game and the manga and I just can’t make heads or tails out of how that process is so if anyone has any ideas I’d love to hear them, otherwise I’m just gonna make up my own thing for my fanfic)
Anyway, I know it’s a long shot but I hope we get more school lore in future chapters/books. Like how come Ramshackle is abandoned if it used to be a dormitory and why is it the only one not connected to the hall of mirrors? What was the associated color for the dorm? The characteristics of the students that were sorted there? Disney I beg of you, as someone who adores the Haunted Mansion- I need the lore!
Okay, end of my rant. If anyone had anything else to add, I’d greatly appreciate it!

The moon spilt its gentle luminescence through the window, painting delicate shadows across the room. Jamil nestled into the plush pillows with a heavy sigh, weariness etched into every line of his form. His shoulders slumped, his exhaustion palpable after another long day's work in Scarabia.
You sat beside him, your fingers glided through his hair in rhythmic strokes, each movement a gentle caress in the quiet of the night. The diligent and responsible vice-housewarden was nowhere to be seen, leaving behind only the weary soul of your beloved. "You've been working so hard," you murmured softly.
Jamil closed his eyes, revelling in the sensation. "I’m used to it at this point,” he sighs into the pillow. “It’s nicer now, having you here with me," he confessed, his voice tinged with gratitude.
"I'm glad to be here," you replied softly, continuing to brush out his hair with gentle care. "I'm glad to have you."
A pause settled between you, a comfortable silence punctuated only by the rhythm of your ministrations. Then, Jamil sighed once more, a sound of pure contentment escaping his lips. "I wish things could stay like this forever," he admitted, his vulnerability laid bare in the dim light of the room.
"Could? I think we definitely will," you assured him, your voice filled with conviction.
He shifted to face you, his weary gaze delving into the depths of your eyes. "You truly think so?" he inquired, a flicker of optimism dancing in his tired expression.
"Well, you won't know if you don't try," you replied, a soft smile gracing your lips as your gaze drifted towards the starry night sky visible through the window, its vastness echoing your uncertainty of the future. "But you're definitely not getting rid of me so easily," you added, a playful giggle escaping you.
Jamil chuckled in response, his weariness momentarily overshadowed by the warmth of your presence. "As if I'd ever let you go willingly," he retorted. He closed his eyes in thought, imagining what a future with you would be like. He imagines shared laughter and quiet moments of intimacy, days spent working tirelessly only to find solace in your embrace at night, and hours spent lost in conversation and affection. He imagined facing life's challenges together, drawing strength from each other's support and unwavering commitment. With you, he saw a future brimming with possibility, where every hurdle was overcome hand in hand, and every joy magnified by the depth of their connection.
"Yeah," he mumbled, his hand reaching out to find yours, fingers intertwining in hope. "We should try."
