Tangled Engagement AU F&Q
TW Genocide mention and abuse
My AO3 account is the same as my tumblr user (@mushy_gushyy) there’s only one fic posted and it’s a Narilamb sm*t fic so minors stay away from my AO3. I’ll be writing for my AU as well in the future but I’m still planning everything out and drawing scenes I imagine for it so it’ll be awhile uwu.
- MASSIVE INFO DUMPING IN THE LINKS -
This AU is heavily centered on religious trauma. It is also inspired by my own experiences in the evangelical church. This is a poly Narilamb love story but it also contains very dark and disturbing themes surrounding religion so keep that in mind. Now that that’s covered, let’s get into it!
Narinder and the Bishops + the history of The Old Faith - (X)
The lamb and family + the genocide - (X)
Camellia and the poly dynamic - (X)
age 35 (aged 248 has the skull necklace) an Orange cat with blue eyes. Pansexual. Married to Meloi. A farmer/worshipper for the cult. She also is Meloi’s most trusted disciple and loyalty enforcer (a girl with many hats).
Camellia was “rescued” in darkwood by Meloi 3 years after they received the crown. Camellia was going to be sacrificed but escaped her bindings and fought alongside Meloi to kill the heretic who slaughtered her village. Camellia was trained by her father how to fight for survival. She knows her way around a weapon but does best in hand to hand combat. Meloi becomes quickly infatuated with her after seeing her display of strength (x) . They marry a year later, with Camellia being the one to propose.
Meloi and Narinders relationship:
Narinder was very emotionally manipulative towards Meloi when they were his vessel. It was doomed to fail due to Narinders obsession with freedom and revenge against his siblings making him selfish and blind to the harm he was inflicting on Meloi. Melois codependency with Narinder was extremely unhealthy and caused them to develop self-worth issues. Meloi was hopelessly in love with Narinder but at this point in time Narinder is incapable of truly loving Meloi, but that doesn’t stop him from fooling them into believing he loves them. Over time Narinder does begin to form affection towards Meloi, but it’s more so trust and enjoying their blind devotion of him than it is romantic feelings. More so a very fucked up friendship. His siblings betrayal has left him with feelings of self hatred so when Narinder begins to see a bit of himself in Meloi, it gives him mixed feeling of confusion and bitterness. How can he admire these attributes in Meloi but not in himself?
After Narinder is defeated and reduced to mortal form, it is turbulent between them for a month. But after a scolding conversation with Camellia he begins to see that perhaps he was a bit selfish (which was very hard for him to admit to himself). After spending more time with Meloi he begins to really pay attention to them. This is when he really begins to see the damage he has done to their psyche and the trauma Meloi has from the genocide and sacrifice. He comes to regret ever asking them to sacrifice themself in his name and decides to mend what he has broken.
Meloi decides as the last God in the land that a crown CAN be shared, therefore they can share their abilities and duties as the God of Death. Once Narinder has gained Meloi’s trust (and their relationship has improved), they bestow that honor onto Narinder and they run the cult together.
Narinder and Camellia’s relationship:
Rocky from the start. Camellia knew that Meloi is in love with Narinder and she is okay with it, even happy for them, that is until Meloi begins to tell her about their relationship with Narinder. Camellia recognizes pretty quickly that Narinder is manipulating and emotionally abusing them. She does her best to help Meloi see the truth but they are too blinded by their love and the lies Narinder is feeding them. Camellia decides to do what she can and be there to pick up the pieces.
So Camellia is not Narinders biggest fan in the beginning. After Narinders defeat (and the before mentioned scolding conversation that they had), Camellia starts to see glimpses of who he really is behind the wall he’s built around himself. Instead of antagonizing him like usual, she softens and helps Meloi break down those walls. In the end, they become very close friends and are affectionate towards one another, but they are not lovers.
Years into the future, the three enter a poly relationship with one another. Meloi with Narinder and Camellia with Meloi. Camellia and Narinder learn to cohabitate with eachother and are close friends. Camellia and Meloi desperately want a child but Meloi was forcibly sterilized in the genocide and cannot have children. Narinder offers to use his genetics instead via artificial insemination and a few months later baby Anneslea is born. Ten years go by and Narinders love for Anneslea makes him desire another child as well. He talks with Meloi and Camellia about his wishes and they happily agree. Baby Morrigan is born and she’s the spitting image of Narinder before his ascension to Godhood. Together they have a happy family within the cult and the lives they always wanted.
