After the unexpected encounter with his younger sibling, the three Whiskey codenamed members returned to their originally planned mission, and successfully completing another task.
Normally, they would split up, but it's almost dawn after they done with their work. People like them shouldn't be outdoors much. So, they rent a cheap place to stayed hidden. Of course, Bourbon aren't pleased, claiming that Vermouth had called him and left.
Should've parked his car nearby...
He didn't want to be around anyone from the organization, but Scotch was someone who didn't talk much, like Rye. Just keeping to themselves, even temporarily, could be bearable.
Hopefully, he wasn't mistaken...
"~โช" The person in question was now sitting calmly playing his bass guitar.
At least the humming was in minimum volume, better than the other person trying to start a conversation.
Perhaps because he stared for too long, their eyes met...
Even though Scotch was smiling, it felt cold, unlike Bourbon's or Vermouth's scheming one.
"You must be tired today." His gaze shifted down to the bass strings, stopped and looking up again.
Scotch's still part of the organization, even he didn't mention the surprised encounter during the mission eariler...waiting for an opportunity, huh?
"Oh, I'm not the type to blackmail anyone. You don't have to be so hostile."
"How will I know you're telling the truth...?"
"That's fair." Scotch took the bass guitar off his lap and placed it beside sofa before turning back.
"Then, let me tell you about myself."
"You might be making it up."
"Think whatever you want."
"..." Without a choice, he reluctantly sat down to listen to the story that could be truth or lie from the person in front of him.
"Honestly though, I thought you were an only child. But thinking about it, it makes sense."
Even without saying anything, his stern emerald gaze told the other person to get to the point.
"But I haven't seen them in years. Well, that's what you get with this kind of work."
"I've wondered; 'how are things over there?'" He chuckled softly.
"But they're probably having a better life than me anyways."
A painful expression, difficult to feign, was evident even without details.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Hmm, consider it's a trade."
The bitterness vanished in an instant, as if a mask had been put on.
"Now we're even, right? You won't tell anyone, and I won't either."
"Mm..." Relieved, drowsiness set in from a stressful all-nighter.
As he walked to his bedroom, something prompted him to speak.
"Thanks... for keeping her company back then."
"No problemโHuh? Her? Is that your sister!?"
The door slammed shut before the outburst could finish.
...Scotch was a strange person.
Although he acted according to his own desires like everyone else in the organization, he gave off a different feeling.
This thought lingered deep in Shuichi's mind.
Until the day a few words were sent to his phone:
And then, everything made sense.
