She wasnât even going to ask, quite honestly.
For one thing, it wasnât any of her business. For another, if she had wanted to give Dolly the impression that there was anything going on between her and Dylan, there would have been few better ways to do than than acting suspicious over the mention of another girl.
And while she had no qualms about flirtatiously teasing⌠well, anyone, really, if it proved amusing enough for her, Angel felt no need to deliberately project any mistaken ideas on that count.
She also took Dollyâs reassurance about her and Dylan not being related in stride, too. Dylan had called Dolly his sister; but as was the case in many pet families, Angel knew not to assume they were related by blood so much as by adoption. Humans did that, adopted pets from all different families and backgroundsâŚ
Too bad that only stuck some of the timeâŚ
Again, Angel shook off the thought.
She snorted a little at Dollyâs question. âFunny story, but I accidentally almost hit him with the trash can I knocked over to look for lunch. A take out while getting takeout, if you will.â
She didnât usually make an effort to use wordplay; but when the opportunity fell into her lap like this? Well, Angel wasnât going to resist it.
Still, her smirk softened after a moment.
âBut heâs been nice enough to show me around, even so. Thatâs a nice change of pace for a stray like me.â
âA trash can?â Dolly asked in slight disbelief. âWait wait wait.â she begun smirking. âAre you saying that DYLAN of all dogs first met you, a stray, eating out of a trash can without running of to shower immediately?â She laughed.
âWell.. I didnât get hit and sheâs new here so itâs just the polite thing to do, you know?â Dylan explained, still a little annoyed by his sister teasing him in front of Angel.
âBro, just a few weeks ago you trusted strangers about as far as you can skate without falling.â Dolly said. âWhich is not really farâ She leaned over to Angel to whisper it.
Dylan noticed the whisper, causing him to grumble a little to himself. He was just trying to be a bit more open minded and friendly. Whyâd Dolly have to embarrass him like that? âWell.. Dogs change with timeâ he replied.
Dolly thought for a moment and before her brother could continue she had hatched a little.. test for him. âYou sure you didnât get hit with garbage? I think you got something on your back!â she said, looking at his back which was clean still.Â
âWhat?!? Where?!?â This caused Dylan to quickly stop in his pace and flip around in a hectic manner to see if she was right. All the bacteria, maybe even fleas! What could have been in that trash can? Dylan stopped when he heard the laughter of his sister.
âHah! Gotcha! Now thatâs the Brother I know!â She chuckled a little longer before she saw Roxy and Snowball waving at her to come over from across the park. âWell..looks like Iâm needed.â She said before turning heel. âWe should hang out sometime, Angel!â She added as she ran off to her friends.
âUgh.. Dolly..â Dylan said, sounding pretty annoyed as he got back up. âSorry about this.â This certainly didnât look like the best first impression.
