“I don’t care that it’s three in the morning. If you want pancakes, we’re making pancakes.”

“Let me take care of it.”

“So you weren’t waiting up for me?” “No. I just happened to be awake, sitting on the couch, with your favorite snack and a movie ready.”

“You can try all you want to get me out from under these blankets. Not gonna work.”

“Have you seen my—” “It’s on the dining table.” “How did you know what I was looking for?” “Because this happens every morning.”

“I saved the last one for you.”

“I picked this up because it reminded me of you. Is that too cheesy?”

“You’re staying, right?”

“You deserve a day off.”

“You drive me absolutely insane sometimes. I hope you know that’s a compliment.”

Tumblr is definitly deleting my posts... and I only ever realise when someone is looking for something I did and can not find it anymore.

{ ☆ } “No.” The word comes out more forceful than Gladstone meant it to; harsh tone made even worse by his ruffled feathers and the way it had slipped through his already-gritted teeth. Feathers quickly fluff out further, but this is more from unease than the red-hot anger that had been bubbling inside of him. Anger that still lingers, but is momentarily doused by shame (as well as by looking at Linda) “I-I mean… No thank you, darlin’.” Voice is soft, emerald eyes apologetically meeting the other’s gaze. Honestly, he should have expected this… Expected the kindhearted duck to offer to come along when she noticed how upset he was. After all, Gladstone hadn’t exactly been doing a very good job concealing it. 

Curse his emotional goose-nature… Normally Gladstone is adept at stifling it when he feels it’s needed. Which is rather often. But this time, that thought hadn’t even crossed his mind. He’d been far too preoccupied imagining- “This is somethin’ that I have to do alone. I don’t… I don’t want you there when I confront D-Money about what he an’ Scroogie McBillions did to our cuz. It’s not goin’ to be pretty, an’ I won’t have you see me when I’m fit to be tied.” Soft tone gains a hint of finality to it, the gander certain of his decision. He loves Linda and adores that she wants to offer support… But he doesn’t want need it. What he needs is to be able to chew out his family without feeling her eyes on him. “I’m not goin’ over there to just talk. I know I’m goin’ to end up hollerin’ at him. I know we’re goin’ to get into a big fight… an’ frankly, what happened deserves a fight. Li’l Chucker deserves that much…”

Gladstone's sudden outburst made Linda flinch, instilling discomfort. She felt uneasy, but she did not perceive the stridency of his voice as threatening, but rather protective for her own safety. She did not say anything a patiently let him take a moment to unburden himself as she looked at him with deep, genuine concern.

She eventually felt a sense of relief when her beloved gander softened his tone and shifted his gentle eyes to her misty sapphire gaze, offering him her comfort by preening his ruffled feathers.

"I understand," Lin's voice choked with empathy, interlocking her fingers to his before giving his warm palm a firm squeeze and his knuckles affectionate strokes with her free palm.

Her poor heart sank to the pit of her stomach when she witnessed the emotional dandy cry. She gradually let go of his palms and backed away a couple inches to allow him to vent. She could not bear to see him cry, but the best she could do was to be there for him as moral support.

"Oh, Gladstone, come here," Linda consoled Gladstone in a hushed voice, inviting him into her arms for a prolonged hug. "I know, sweetheart. It's not your fault your uncle prevented you and Donald from intervening with intimidation. You've got a rare heart, and I'm positive that deep down Fethry knows that. It's Scrooge who needs to take accountability for his actions against him," she sighed, rubbing Gladstone's back as she swayed him tenderly. "Four years of involuntary isolation and stolen freedom. I can only imagine what he went through."

She finally broke the hug but remained fixed on his sensitive gaze, gingerly running her fingers through his coiffed blonde hair.

"I'll let you go and do that now. I'll be there as your emotional and moral support. Be careful and remember to take care of yourself," she leaned in and kissed him on the forehead.
