I watched Arco yesterday together with @hyenaspseudocock, and OMG, it was a beautiful movie and it got me to ugly cry. It really is an amazing movie in regards of the artistic merit. Oh my god it is such a pretty movie. This is just animation at its peak, and I really am looking forward to hear what my animation peeps are going to say about it when they get the chance to see it.

But also, it is finally an actual Solarpunk movie.

I did not expect that to actually happen, given that for the last 10 years or so, we had a bunch of stuff that was using some Solarpunk aesthetics, but not actual Solarpunk philosophy. I mean, Solarpunk has been so washed down into a bloody cottagecore-ass aesthetic, that most people do not even know it is actually a philosophy and literary genre - let alone that it is based on Amazofuturism.

It also kinda checks out that the first thing that is feature length, fully Solarpunk, and actually engages with those idea is not English OV and animated. Both things made a lot of sense in this context. Also that it is indie, because duh.

I also have a lot of thoughts how the movie did the plot about computers and AI, because the movie was a lot more interesting about this than I expected. Mikki was a super good parent-bot. (But also the parents should have actually parented their kids.)

Y'all really should watch it if you get the chance!
