you grit your teeth and hiss out, “i’d rather die than let you help me.” heeseung chuckles, that stupid smirk of his plastered on his face.

he hums and says, “ouch, that was harsh.” he fake-pouts and tilts his head. “just date already..” riki who could hear the exchange, muttered loudly.

“shut the hell up!” you snap, ears turning red. you could feel heeseung staring at you, observing your reaction.

he doesn’t look embarrased in the slightest.

in fact, he looks at the whole class and asks, “should we?” giggles, groans, and loud chants of, “date! date! date!” fill the room.

you shove him away from you, scoffing. “only in your wildest dreams.” heeseung can easily tell that you were flustered.

you both know he loves it.

heeseung always put in more effort to annoy you than someone with hatred should.

he never gave you the satisfaction of personal space. he bumps into you in the hallways. he calls you the most unique, unhinged petnames ever.

“what the fuck is a ‘honey bun munchkin?!’” you yelled, screaming into your pillow one night.

during lunch, heeseung makes sure to stay within a 6-foot radius of you. always following you around like a puppy— or more like a shadow.

“if you hate me so much, why can’t you leave me alone?” you accuse him after class ends, shoving your pencil case in your bag a little too aggressively.

“well, i never said that.” he answers smoothly, adjusting his uniform tie. he’s leaning against your desk as if he owns the whole university. “maybe i just like annoying you, seeing you react.”

you want to punch him across the face, but you don’t. instead, you shoulder past him stubbornly, but he somehow falls into step right next to you.

you didn’t notice it at first. the way his smirk falters whenever he sees a boy lean too close just to ‘joke’ with you. the way he suddenly interrupts your conversations with certain people, arm sliding around your shoulders.

“she’s not interested.” heeseung says bluntly, giving the boy standing in front of you one of the nastiest looks you’ve ever seen.

when the boy leaves, you push heeseung off you instantly, inhaling sharply. “what’s your problem?”

he just shrugs, jaw tight that he didn’t even bother hiding. “didn’t like the way he was looking at you.”

you sigh and say, “you don’t get a say in who looks at me.” your words strongly contradict the rapid beating of your heart.

“but i do get a say in who takes your attention.”

he can always tell when somethings wrong. whether you’re sick or you’re just in a sad mood. heeseung knows that to make you feel better, you had to laugh.

one day, when you were feeling down, you had your head down, buried in your arms. he was next to you and he groaned, facepalming.

the sound of it makes you look up with tired eyes. “you know, if you’re trying to make me feel guilty, it’s working.” heeseung says, bumping his shoulder into yours.

or sometimes he uses a different approach. “i feel like crap.” you explained when he asked you why you were so snappy that day. “you look like it too.” he just wanted you to take your mind off something else other than whatever was troubling you.

heeseung just loves to tease you— especially in front of people. he’d click his tongue, sucking in his breath. “y/n, you could really be a better friend, you know?”

“friend? woah there..” you snort, glaring at him. “you sure are funny..”

he frowns, sitting up straight. “what’s funny?”

you smirk and without thinking, blurt out, “your face.”

this causes heeseung to genuinely start tweaking out. he scoffs in disbelief, staring at you. “you’re so immature.”

“says the one who scribbles all over his paper when he doesn’t know an answer.”

“shut up!”

“you started it, idiot!”

in the background, everyone groans. “can they just stay off each other for one damn second?” someone asks quietly.

you were invited to the same party one night. dragged by your friends, you drank and got drunk. heeseung, however, remained sober, unknowing of just how tipsy you were.

until he saw you walking to him, smiling.

“lee hee—seung…” you slurred out. your speech was pretty coherent but the way you pronounced things was a little funny.

heeseung snickered and asked your friends who were standing behind her, “why’d you let her drink?”

they shrugged, smirking. “we didn’t know her tolerance was this low…” giselle says.

in the blink of an eye, they were gone. leaving you alone with him.

but your words bring his attention back to you. “be ‘onest.. whaddya think of me?” you ask, trying to stay balanced.

“jesus christ, y/n.. just how many drinks did you have?” he ask, catching you by the waist. you blink up at him with glossy eyes and say confidently, “yes, yes i am.”

god were you drunk.

heeseung sighs, grabs his water and leads you to a more private area of the house. sitting you down on a sofa. “drink this.” he commands softly, bringing the water up to your lips.

you push the cup away, pouting. “you didn’t answer my..” you pause, losing train of thought before continuing, “my.. question earlier..”

he tilts his head. “fine. i’ll answer it.” he takes a deep breath before blatantly confessing, “i like you. a lot.”

you giggle and lean in close. “i like you too.” you whisper in his ear. heeseung’s heart skips a beat. he’s not sure if it was the alcohol or if you were speaking the truth.

“y/n, that’s nonsens—”

you pull him by his collar, pressing your lips against his. the kiss lasts about 10 seconds— after that, you look up at him.

“did we ever hate each other?”

“i.. i don’t think so.”

and for the first time, you stay. stay with him instead of leaving like you’d usually do after every bicker session.

and the looks on your faces seemed as if you knew you and him were bound together somehow.

“stay, even if you’re angry. i’ll make it bearable, i promise.” he says, pulling away for a moment. you could only sniffle and nod. maybe you did have someone in your life that loved you.

he was nice. but older. and only spoke to you in public. you could bear with him— but it seemed like he couldn’t do the same. at least, that was what you thought.

you’re crawling through your bedroom window when sunoo flicks on the lamp. “y/n. really?” he huffs, pout full-force, but his glossy eyes betray his worry. “i.. i don’t know what to do or say.” sunoo says suddenly.

you ask, “wha..?” then he continues, “i love you, okay? and i’m sorry if i don’t know how to show it, but i really do..”

you shrivel with guilt, but he immediately softens, drawing you in for a tight hug. “if something’s wrong, just talk to me! you’re not alone.”

he cradles your face, peppering it with rapid-fire kisses. you swallow hard, letting yourself hug himself back. “you mean it?”

sunoo kisses you on the lips and says, “of course i do.. who wouldn’t?” as he pulls you closer, without thinking much, you say outloud, “i love you too..”

YANG JUNGWON

jungwon. you knew him from your childhood but it was all a blur when you parents started the famous company you were meant to inherit soon. he loved you. he knew that all too well.

the click of the door wakes jungwon instantly. “damn.” you say under your breath. he appears behind you and asks, “y/n. are you running from me—or the marriage?” he whispers.

you almost flinch at his honesty. “i just.. miss being free.” jungwon steps closer, gaze softening. “freedom shouldn’t mean losing you,” he whispers, lifting your face to his.

you didn’t expect that. “jungwon, i—” then, he kisses you. you froze, but relaxed when he pulled you by the waist. “jungwon..” you mutter against his lips, letting him enjoy the moment.

when he was younger, he was immature and childish. you have no clue who killed that boy. the one you’re married to is the exact opposite of the him you knew.

riki caught your wrist at the staircase. his eyes showed clearly that he was mad and wanted an explanation. “why leave in the middle of the night?” his entire serious facade faded away in a second.
