A theory spawns another theory
Since «Gravity» came out people have been discussing the symbolism of the song and animation.
The oxymoronic combination of song's name being «Gravity» and anti-gravitational movements of Lute (walking on the walls and the ceiling), biblical allusions in the lyrics (the Genesis Flood) and other important details.
As many fans believe, one of the most impressive frames in «Gravity» is supposed to show the «fall» of Lute in the future.
Indeed, it speaks volumes and is very logical (as we can see from the episode 2, where Lute does not receive any support, be that support for her plan or mere psychological help – both affect her actions and make her even more desperate).
It catches our eye, but there is something that usually stays out of viewer's attention: we had better look closer at frames, since it isn't the one and only falling of Lute during the song, nor is it chronologically the first one.
Actually, there are two moments where she is falling down.
The second one depicting angel's dark silhouette attracts everyone's attention, here we see the «fall» itself, as it is. (By the way, she broke the window wall and not the ceiling here)
The first one remains behind the scenes, but the essence is the same – she is falling. We just see a result instead of process. And that result is no less important and symbolic…
She breaks the stained-glass ceiling and is about to fall down. But where is at that exact moment Adam?
The answer: he stays on the floor, while she is under the ceiling. He is «in Hell», waiting for her, while she is «in Heaven». Metaphorically.
Nota bene: Adam as hallucination can fly, as we see in many scenes. He also accompanies Lute during her flight around the room, appearing here and there, beside her or opposite her… Why stay down there waiting? Emphasis in the discussed scene was obviously on him.
And here we witness the concentration of meaning – depiction of extermination on the ceiling, falling (or fallen) angel, gold and red shards of glass falling like a rain (some time later – gradient of gold-red sky) ... and Adam, looking up at her, waiting for her, even meeting her with soft hand movement as she lands. The very next moment they are completely in sync and are mirroring each other, just like they used to do in season 1.
The «mirroring» is, in my opinion, also important – that is something they usually do, but it is also the first time during the song when Adam acts natural and doesn't give these hallucination/ghost vibes (by that I mean his constant whispering and abrupt appearances behind her back etc.) …
Possible interpretation or conclusion: they definitely will meet each other. A winner/archangel will become sinner/overlord, an angel will become fallen angel.
... at first sight
Everyone has noticed how Vaggie's wings have changed their colour from black-white palette ("rules are black and white") to grey ("rules are shades of gray"), but there's another detail someone could find interesting:
She had only one black stripe on her wings, while all other exorcists, including Lute, have two black stripes. I firstly payed attention to it in the scene where Lute was ripping Vaggie's wings off and thought that Vaggie gained it as a result of not killing a child, showing truly angelic mercy. Then I rewatched the episode and it occurred to me: she always had that unusual pattern on her wings. She always has been a "white crow" among her so called sisters.
I guess exorcists were supposed to have some kind of balance in their nature – the balance between being bloodthirsty warriors, ready to sacrifice themselves in order to protect Heaven, and being creatures of light – the same as ordinary (normal) angels, kind, loyal, merciful. The palette of their wings represent this balance. White (kindness) is for Heaven and it's citizens, black (fierceness) is for Hell and sinners.
The fact that Vaggie had less black colour on her feathers definitely means something. Maybe she had "bug" in her "natural program" when she was created, which made her less cruel and more kindhearted, soft. Maybe she had her doubts about extermination and it's ruthless methods a long time before Adam and Lute abandoned her in Hell. And those thoughts had changed the colours of her wings (something tells me angels can change shades of their feathers based on their strong emotions — even though Vaggie's grey wings demonstrate the symbolism on the first place, it can also be the result of her complicated feelings).
As for Lute and her relationship with Vaggie, there might be something beside rivalry. What if Lute had noticed that Vaggie was different and was acting strange? Just to be clear: I can't fully believe Lute was simply jealous — these two were not the only one who Adam saw as his "top girls", best warriors. The exorcist Carmila has killed during the last Extermination possibly was another high-rank angel (according to her armour), so there must be a whole group of such strong angelic ladies, not just Vaggie and Lute (plus Lieutenant wanted revenge (!) for that killed high-rank fellow. Doesn't seem to me like a jealousy at all.)
It's rather Lute's beliefs that caused her to hate another angel. She appears like a very ideological person, who draws conclusions on the basis of her worldview. And, considering the only two things exorcists have ever seen were Heaven and Hell, it's not surprise their conclusions could be quite radical (because, they literally see the best (in Heaven) and the worst (in Hell), there is no in-between for them). If we look deeply into Lute's soul and mind, we could find something else — who knows, maybe she indeed saw Vaggie as a betrayer?.. Lieutenant wasn't ready to open her eyes and see the truth, as well as other exorcists. And that's why the only angel without helmet was Vaggie (another symbolism) — she took it off just like she rejected her previous beliefs… Beliefs which were "installed" in her mind in the moment of her creation.

The alternative ending, where Lute died instead of Adam… 🥀
Everything for his dearest (girl)friend.
(i'll just leave it here till i've finished.)
My Lute redesign
I think her canon design is fine? But still, like what I said in my Adam redesign post, why do the angels look demonic?
I assume that all exorcists are based on Adam's look, especially the mask so yeah that looks similar. Since I think her canon design is already fine, I basically made this into a mix of canon and a sexy crusader lol. I changed her eyes to purple so that it contrasts with Adam's yellow ones (and also because I wanted her to look more goth).
In terms of characterization, I think she's also fine I'm just changing that fact that she doesn't swear anymore. She polices Adam alot with his own swearing. Lute just kinda seems disgusted with the thought of hell in general so I'm pushing it a little bit further with some religious righteousness to mask her disgust. Believing that everything she does is for the greatest good.
Anyway, love her relationship with Adam, it was refreshing to see this kind of dynamic and I wish we got more of it😔
Totally love your redesign! This reminds me of slavic and arab armor, very refreshing look at crusaders/warriors. I would even call them “bogatyrs” of heaven. And Lute looks amazing with the braid.
So yeah, i made Lute drunk too🤟 now Adam has to deal with her easily drunken self
