5sos Sunrise + Red Room Experience :)
So today marks one month since I got to 5sos twice in one day. It has literally taken me so long to write about this but finally I am writing about it. This is just like my experience and what happened and what not :) Btw this post is really long but I have a lot to say and yeah but enjoy reading.
Basically in the school holidays Sunrise announced that 5sos would be performing at Fed Square. Obviously I was going to go because I live in Melbourne and yeah. I was actually planning on camping out but decided against it.
As for Nova’s Red Room, my sister won tickets to go. Two weeks prior to the event she had got a call saying she was on the standby list to win tickets. We never heard back from Nova. Then a day before the event I heard my sister on the phone and she said she had got tickets for the red room. Lets just say I cried a lot lmao.
So first was Sunrise. I woke up at 3am and ended up getting to Fed Square at 5am on the dot. It was quite funny because I remember jumping out of the car and running across the street. For getting there at 5am I would say we didn’t have a bad spot (Picture of my view above).
We were chilling and shit for about 30 minutes at the most and I was trying to meet up with my internet friend. Suddenly everyone just started pushing and I ended up in the front section, just in front of the cameras (Picture of my view above).
After waiting an hour or so, they finally came on stage and did a sound check of She’s Kinda Hot, then a sound check of Jet Black Heart, then a performance of She’s Kinda Hot, then a performance She Looks So Perfect, then a performance of Amnesia and then finally a performance of Jet Black Heart. This was a long process of waiting and standing lol. What happened was that they would come on, do a song and then go of stage for a period of time, ranging between 10 and 30 minutes.
Another thing they did was they would usually come on stage a few minutes before they had to actually perform. Michael said “We’ve got two minutes to talk shit, yay!”. We all chanted at them to play pizza but unfortunately they didn’t end up playing it, I think they may have not been allowed to. One thing they did do was sing a song about people inside the fence and outside the fence, as there was this huge fence to block parts of Fed Square. I uploaded a video of this so check out one of my previous posts. It was so cute to see them just fuck around for a few minutes and talk about the most random shit ever.
Here are some photos I took, which aren’t amazing but please don’t steal them without credit. From my photos you can see I was about 15 to 20 metres away from the stage, which I think is pretty good for getting there at 5am.
Sunrise was a really fun experience but quite long and tiring. I had never been to one of those TV live performances so it was cool to see all the sound checks and random shit they did during ad breaks. It was also really cool to hear songs from Sounds Good Feels Good live. I really enjoyed my experience but a few things did happen. One was that when everyone started to push I got split up with two people I was with but it was okay since I was with three other people. Also the woman in front of me was kind of annoying and kept getting mad at me for screaming but the group behind me helped piss her off by trying to get Michael’s attention lmao. But yeah overall I think Sunrise was a really cool thing to go to and was fun.
After getting home, clearing the photos off my phone and getting ready for the Red Room we left to the secret location, which wasn’t really that secret because it had Nova flags up and shit. I don’t remember what time I got there exactly but I think it was around 2pm, an hour before doors were meant to open.
I felt really awkward in line because I was like the youngest one there I swear. You had to be 14 to attend and well I’m 14 so I felt really young. I didn’t really care though because like I just wanted to see 5sos.
When the 3pm mark hit we all received the news that doors wouldn’t be opening until 4:20pm so we waited more and more.
We didn’t end up actually getting into the venue until about 4:40pm as it took time to check off names, IDs and get our cool lanyards (Pictured above).
Now let me just say that this venue was fucking awesome. It had multiple levels so you could chose where you wanted to stand. When you walked in there was just music thumping and I heard some girl on the phone describe it as a club.
Because of people choosing to go on different levels, my sister actually got really close for where we were in line. I would say there was about 2 people in front of me so yeah, we were pretty close. The boys were in the order from left to right Michael, Luke, Calum and Ashton. We stood in front of Ashton and Calum because Ashton is my sister’s favourite and also at Sunrise I could barely see Ashton or Calum. I also thought it was so cool to be close to the drummer because usually there at the back but this time I was really close. I would say we were only about 3 metres away from Ashton, which was pretty fucking awesome. Unfortunately I had a little trouble seeing Michael and Luke but I could still see them and was still quite close to them (My view pictured above).
At around 5pm the show finally started and all the boys came on stage and performed for about 30 minutes max. They did 5 songs; She Looks So Perfect, What I Like About You, Amnesia, Jet Black Heart and She’s Kinda Hot. They were mostly acoustic and it was so cool because I got to hear them play What I Like About You acoustically for the first time. Since I was so close I had the opportunity to get some nice pics which I tried to get but I was shaking a lot, Some are above (As you can see I couldn’t fit all 4 of them in a picture, literally was that close).
So overall being able to see 5sos in Nova’s Red Room was probably one of the most amazing experiences ever. It was so cool to be so close to them and have an intimate performance. It was a nice environment and something I will never forget. I would like to give a huge thank you to Nova and my sister because I wouldn’t have been able to go if it wasn’t for you guys :) I honestly don’t know what else to say without writing like 1000 more words. Let’s just say it was the best thing that has ever happened to me.
If you have managed to make it to the end of this very long post, congratulations and thanks for reading :). I really wanted to upload something about this day because it was very special and probably the best thing that has happened in my life. I still can’t believe how lucky I was to see 5sos twice in one day and I am so so so grateful that it happened.
If you want to see videos of the actual performances I have uploaded all of them to my YouTube channel ----> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA5CHiEn3WoOTVGzCV6F81w
Just a little side note: Please don’t steal my photos or videos with out giving me credit because even though they may not be amazing they’re still mine. I have been kind enough to post them without credit so I except that they are respected as my photos. Thank you!
If you want to ask me any questions about what happened or anything just hit me up in my ask and I’ll be happy to answer if they are appropriate :)
Thanks for reading xx - Charlotte
