Allowing the Diminishment of the Ego
The ego is always on guard against any kind of perceived diminishment. Automatic ego-repair mechanisms come into effect to restore the mental form of âme.â When someone blames or criticizes me, that to the ego is a diminishment of self, and it will immediately attempt to repair its diminished sense of self through self-justification, defense, or blaming.Â
Whether the other person is right or wrong is irrelevant to the ego. It is much more interested in self-preservation than in the truth. This is the preservation of the psychological form of âme.âÂ
One of the most common ego-repair mechanisms is anger, which causes a temporary but huge ego inflation. All repair mechanisms make perfect sense to the ego but are actually dysfunctional. Those that are most extreme in their dysfunction are physical violence and self-delusion in the form of grandiose fantasies.Â
A powerful spiritual practice is consciously to allow the diminishment of ego when it happens without attempting to restore it. I recommend that you experiment with this from time to time.Â

# A Perfect Team Worker
Being strong and persistent does not make ants become individualist creatures. Their dependency upon each other within a great colony rather than solely act as a single worker makes this organism become one of the most successful insect that last on earth
It has been over than 99 million years ago since the first occurrence of these insect-type creatures on earth. The long process of evolution has directed these life forms to become one of an established organism with the highest survival rate in the world. This ability allows them to conquer and adapt against various environmental conditions within it. Their tenacity to live along with the bigger animals around them as well as to solve complex problems turns antsâ survival strategy to become somewhat enticing sequel to scrutinize.
Antsâ success story even more dramatic when these tiny creatures stand as the most dominant terrestrial biomass which comprises up to 25% of total organisms that live on the ground. The triumph to sustain their own life to that astonishing level might bring out about confusing puzzles for the scientist. At least, it still became an enigma until few decades ago when a group of entomologist successfully uncovered the secret of amazing strategy behind antsâ stride yarns.
However, as commoners, we may think that it is about too preposterous as a minor organism like ants are able to be the most dominant creature on earth. Nevertheless, if we insist to chop off on what kind of strategy which is belong to this special life form, some of us may fall into wrong conclusions. When we draw back on what special characteristics of ants as a solitary entity are, perhaps we think that it is because their strong and persistent characters so they can create a wonderful history. It has been confirmed that the ant is a eusocial organism means that they incredibly pose the highest level of organization skill among other animalsâ sociality. This aptitude is defined as the characteristic of ants that skillfully divide the job within a colony by making a special partitioned member. Intelligently, they work together as a team which consists of diversified member who have specific job namely builder, forager, queen, as well as drone. This strategy eventually leads to the efficient management system of their life and collectively the great ants are able to build one of the most impressive empire on land.
When we simply put the antâs personality as it was ours, it might be somewhat different. As we often encounter in our life that there is tendency as people getting stronger or even dominant in a team, they are more likely to heed the others. These people might feel that every single thing that they are currently facing can be independently overcome by their own. Thus, the haughty persons will be thinking that they simply do not need othersâ helps. Â They consider themselves as a perfect solver to their own problems and start to humiliate other people. These overconfident humans actually will get nothing but narrow self-achievements if they eventually make them up. However an individualist surely lack of some valuable aspects in their life.
As we know that ants are actually sturdy and persistent. However it does not mean that they can completely fulfill everything including survival as an individualist. There is no such a guarantee that a single living thing can stand alone without weakness. Our creator does make everything with inadequacy and superiority thus both things can complement each other. One thing that they do not own as an individual, but actually they do have it when they are being together. Â Ants have strength but they also do have weakness. They are vision-less creatures that highly depend on others within a colony. As a solution, an intriguing way then is created to cope with the limitation.Â
The great ants use specialized antennae to identify surrounding but they still highly rely on other antsâ pheromones (specific aromatic compound) to make their teamwork become more efficient. With this specific pheromones they can communicate with each other and then make an effective strategy to gain foods including to plot the most productive place to hunt or even to seek the best quality of foods in their habitat. In addition ants also use this compound to acknowledge their member whether they are in one group as a forager, builder or even queens and drones. Therefore, they might not be overlap in terms of working together with other diversified ants. These strategies allow the persistent ants to sustain and continue their life as a perfect team for long period of time.
Finally there is nothing to be proud of being individualist since there is no guarantee that a single person can solve everything on their own. Everyone has their own weakness and strength. God indeed creates us as a social creature not an individualist one. A single crucial thing that we often do not own it as an individual, probably exist when we are being together. If we believe that we can overcome many thing on our own then just think that others may need our helps. Because the value of life does not rest on the ignorance and egoism but on those who care and respect. In the end, we can stand together not as a stubborn solitary human but as a strong social creatures that support one another.

# Persistent Ants
If you start to observe your surrounding, you might be amazed by the tiny yet powerful creatures living in the dark specialized nest. Their parallelisms toward human societies has long been an inspiration for making an established civilization
Being able to lift up stuff at least 50 times heavier than its own mass may seem illogical for everyone. However for one of the strongest animal on earth, this is such an exception. It is a common duty for them to get involved along with other colony of workers. Surprisingly, they are not such physically powerful animals as a group of elephants in a yellowish savanna, or even populated male-rhinos which are participating in a battle against others. Unlike those big creatures, they are only made up by minor yet rigid chitinous-structure of body which makes their mass are almost weightless. Yes, they are simple but robust ants. Perhaps, we have ever been outwitted by their skimpy size. However, in fact that is not actually the case.Â
The long-established of humanâs perception toward the size and dimension could influence the level of strength, might somewhat inconsistent. Small is not always weak and powerless. In contrary, it could be sturdy or even dominant. Nevertheless, somehow the confirmed facts might insufficient to gratify the conservative idea of the society.
The paradigm regarding ââsmall and marginal is powerlessââ still often occurs in our existence. This phenomenon has been worsened by the narrow minds of those who are inflicted by unfair judgement. They even begin to blame themselves due to their ââsmallââ and âlimitedâ circumstances rather than choosing to think big and feel optimistic.
If we can really comprehend on what truly happens in the nature, those doubtful and discriminative ideas are nothing but obsolete myths. The colony of ants are perfect model to proof it through. Letâs just learn from what is exactly faced by these eusocial creatures in reality :
Because of their simple and tiny bodies, it does not mean that the ants will easily give up on the circumstance. Conversely, this tireless insects apparently try to flip it over to be an opportunity for them using a unique strategy. The aims are simple, to gain as much power as possible, to raise up and carry the heavy loads away from its initial place toward their own nest.
The strategy is somewhat extraordinary, but it is eventually understandable by some experts. At least this is an evident that has been proven by entomologists through the discovery of amazing skill possessed by ants few years ago.Â
âAs the sturdy ants have small and light body so they can minimize their energy to provide support upon their internal mass. As a result, the conserved energy can be focused only on the external contents ââ
In addition, the physically specialized-structure of exoskeleton that they have obtained from long process of evolution makes up another contribution. The hard exoskeleton then is combined with soft tissue within antsâ neck creating minimum stress yet optimum mechanical function. As the external tension can be significantly reduced and sufficient energy is available, carrying loads as much as 50 times heavier than their own body mass is a piece of cake for the brave  ants.
ââ If we simply personify the life of great ants as if they were human beings and the heavy loads as a problem that we are currently facing, then it was likely that the condition would change. As a human being, we frequently deal with so many doubtful and confusing perspective in our own minds. We often only focus on how big the problems is without realizing that we have a great self-potential to solve them easily. As an impact, we will consider a heavy stuff as an impossible thing to do since we are too busy to build false assumptions and it eventually can create the feeling of inferiority. In the end that is just a self-war within our thoughts without resulting a concrete solutionââ
However, ants are really special creature. They do realize that the small size of their corpus will never be an obstacle for them to carry the strenuous hauls away.
Instead of having such pessimistic feeling, they exhibit a strong confidence as well as their highly self-trust. They do believe that their Supreme Creator has set the prominent genes to pose the strength over their physical limitation. All they need to do is just making the noticeable steps to fix up their problems without neglecting the faith for being themselves. This is because they are not only ordinary insects, but indeed, they are truly persistent ants. So why donât we try to take good lessons from them?

The Wise Cactus  Â
Have you ever seen the fierce cactus standing firmly in the middle of deserted land yet has colorful flower? They are not only tenacious but also generous
Living in the very limited source of nutrients and even scarcity of water might cause cactus look furious. What to expect from the fiercely abandoned plants which have sharp spines growing in the center of harsh land? This may come across our minds when we start to portray this creature. The appearance is often underestimated by those who are only attached by something appealing at the first sight, and for this plant nothing left than discrimination by the outlook judge. However, if we take a closer look to different perspective, we may find that cactus are not only efficient plants but also wise.
How come this leafless plant with shallow roots can cope with unsupported environment while others suffering to death? Equipped with thick and wax covering skin as well as very efficient water absorbing roots turns this plant into the king of dessert. Instead of having leaves this plant has chosen to have spines to prevent the water from quick evaporation as well as to protect themselves from external threats.This definitely can benefit for the cactus survival but as implication they perform unpleasant structure.Â
When we imagine as if cactus can freely set their appearance they may choose the more beautiful one, with large and fresh leaves instead of spines and or maybe with strong woody trunks over the monotonous and waxy body. But what happens when they choose those displays? They will never survive to grow in the deserted land since beauty without remarkable functions is useless and eventually can lead them to the extinction. In fact we will never see that case happens because reasons to live and survive overweigh the importance of good-looking aspect. The fate for this plant has been set through their DNA and they have wisely chosen this beast-like-appearance by the process of evolution over the beautiful outlook. Thus they can sustain their life for long period of time when most of other plants fail to adapt against the hot climate.
Despite their highly resistance against the hot and dry weather, some cactus species can bear beautiful and vibrant flower. Maybe we have never expected the gorgeous flowers have risen from the upper spiny part of this beast. But we cannot deny it. The flowers blossom with different petal colors and most of them are very attractive. At least for such pollinators as hummingbirds, bees, or bats, itâs something that they can never avoid of.
At first, we may never think that the monster does give benefits for the neighbored animal surrounding it, while they themselves keep fasting for almost of their entire life due to the devastated condition.Â
However, despite of efficiently retaining and saving the limited nutrients for their own, apparently cactus also produce the dense and scented nectar-producing flower as gifts for the starving pollinators which alight on them. How come this happens to the xerophitic plants which has long-period of dormancies over growing phase can give the advantages for others?Â
This is the second wise path chosen by the generous beast. It is true that cactus extensively absorb and retain the nutrients for their growth, but once the âthanksgiving-dayâ come, they never forget the surrounding. They do realize that the place where they standing right now is not fully belong to them. At least it is also owned by thousands species of flower depended pollinators which are ready to suck their sweet nectar. It seems that the judged spiny cactus has more conscience than we have ever thought. In the end the generous cactus will never neglect the term of âgive-and-takeâ.Â
Whoever grows the plant, surely they will harvest the yield. This statement is unexceptionally applicable for the cactus life. These plants exactly know when they give something useful for the pollinators, someday they will get for sure something more in return. Nature always keeps the harmony among its components. Unrealized bees accidently stick the pollens from the stigma of one cactusâ flower to their bodies and then carry them away toward destined mates. Those pollens finally meet their neighbored partner and eventually a favorable pollination occurs. This leads to the rise of new born generation of cactus for the mother cacti and life surely continues with an escalated survival rate.Â
Once more, there is nothing wrong with spiny cactus. If there is any, it âs maybe only in our perspective. Instead of thinking about the ferocity of cactus why donât we try to look at their generosity? Because they still perform the beauty and indeed they are also true philanthropists. Rather than underestimating upon the creature why donât we take good lessons from it?

Dua orang yang tak pernah lelah apalagi menyerah jikalau harus menempuh jalan yang penuh duri dan getah. Teruntuk kalian berdua yang telah lama menggiring putramu di depan dan seringkali tak menatap diri kalian yang telah mulai lemah di belakang. Tak peduli jikalau harus melupakan diri, supaya semata wayangnya terus menatap ke depan. Pedih, pahit serta asam garam kehidupan telah kau telan dan menyisakan yang manis untuk ku rasakan. Rintik dan Awan
Rintik tak elak mengundang dingin yang menusuk pun juga beban yang tiba-tiba terasa lebih berat. Awan memang tak biasa menunujukkan ruam hitam pada wajahnya, namun itu bukan salahnya.
Seperti nampak pada bau tanah yang semakin kuat menusuk, pun juga suara celaan pada rintik dan awan yang semakin kencang didengungkan. Eh..Ah..cukup memekakkan di telinganya namun tak bisa berbuat apa-apa.
Pikirannya pun tertuju jauh pada sebuah karya lama. Juga seutas kata-kata dari Sang Penciptanya. Bukan tanpa maksud Karya itu diciptakan apalagi sia-sia. Pun begitu dengan rintik dan awan yang selalu dicela.
Pernahkah mendengar rintihan daun kering yang tak ingin terjatuh dari dahannya atau ocehan ikan yang tak mau dirinya kering oleh sengatan sang surya, atau tunas yang selalu malu-malu menunjukkan jati dirinya.
Merekalah yang tak pernah bosan mendengar candaan rintik dan awan muram. Ini bukan untuk mereka yang selalu mencela namun untuk mereka yang selalu syukur dan gembira.

Jalur Terbaik
Jejak langkah nan panjang telah ia rakit mungkin.. Namun tak sepanjang asa di kepala, sejauh jangkau kaki yang tak henti melaju, namun tak sejengkal pun lupa dari mana ia berasal.
Tak seindah jalan di taman yang diiringi bunga rapi di sekitarnya, jalan yang terpilih seringkali tak seindah angan-angannya. Terjal, berbatu, panjang dan berliku.
Mungkin angan tak selalu bertemu dengan kenyataan dan jalur yang dipilih telah ditentukan,tak bisa memaksa. Namun yang ia selalu ingat adalah semua jalur akan mengarahkannya pada tempat yang sama.
Seperti sungai yang akan saling bertemu pada muara. Bukan tanpa alasan mengapa jalur2 itu dibuat berbeda, melainkan untuk melatihnya berjalan dengan tegap, tegar dan cepat namun tetap berhati-hati.
Sehingga jikalau ia melewati jalannya dengan baik, didaptkannyalah apa yang ia inginkan,bukan⌠tetapi apa yang ia butuhkan. Seperti dalang yang berkuasa atas cerita setangkai wayang, Sang Pembuat jalur tentu lebih berkuasa atas angan.berada di jalurNya adalah pilihan terbaik sehingga tak ada kata sesat dalam perjalanannya

Dibalik Sebuah Keputusan
Tengadah bukan berarti pasrah, bukan berarti lelah. Tengadah bukan berarti buntu dan tak tahu arah melangkah.
Bukan hanya melulu soal mengadu dan meminta ataupun meresah. Lebih jauh, ia adalah pelengkap dan penguat sekaligus sarana pengabulan.
Tiada lisan yang berucap tanpa tersambung dan tercatat. Catatan abadi yang sewaktu-waktu bisa dibuka dan dibaca oleh Pemiliknya, ya.. Dikala itulah jawaban atas tengadah ditemukan.
Seperti 2 sisi pada mata uang logam,ya atau tidak. Dan akhirnya tiada yang perlu disesali dari sebuah keputusan. Keputusan mutlak yang datang dari Sang Pemilik Catatan tanpa bisa diindahkan.
Seperti keputusan akan ulat hina yang kemudian berubah menjadi kupu-kupu cantik ataupun kaktus nan tajam yang kemudian ditumbuhi bunga indah di sisi-sisinya.
Ya.. memang tiada yang bisa menebak ataupun menduga akhir dari sebuah keputusan. Maka tiada berhak meragukan atau menghakimi melainkan hanya meyakini. Karena keputusan hanya dibuat sesuai yang ia butuhkan namun tidak untuk apa yang ia inginkan.

Pernah mendengar istilah antimikroba? pasti nggak asing lagi lah ya dengan istilah itu..ya benar sekali antimikroba adalah suatu senyawa yang memiliki kemampuan untuk menghambat atau membunuh mikroba. Terdiri dari bakteriostatik dan bakteriosida. Bakteriostatik berfungsi untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri sedangkan bakteriosida merupakan senyawa yang berfungsi membunuh bakteri. Nah banyak banget lo kegunaan dari si antimikroba ini diantaranya untuk desinfeksi air, membuat makanan tetap steril,mengurangi resiko kontaminasi dan infeksi terhadap bakteri dalam dunia kesehatan dan masih banyak lagi kegunaanya.
Saat ini penelitian tentang antimikroba memang sedang berkembang pesat. Para ilmuan berusaha keras untuk menemukan sebuah senyawa antimikroba yang efektif untuk menghambat atau membunuh mikroba. Saat ini fokus utama peneliti adalah bagaimana cara mengembangkan antimikroba pada sebuah alat atau benda yang seringkali digunakan oleh manusia. Kita tahu kalau manusia tidak lepas dari macam-macam alat atau benda-benda tertentu yang memang dibutuhkan setiap saat. Misalnya saja seperti hp, jam tangan, laptop dan wearable device yang lainnya.
Nah memang apa hubungannya antara alat/benda yang sering dipakai dengan antimikroba? Jawabannya simple saja, karena setiap benda yang sering kita gunakan memiliki potensi untuk menyebarkan mikroba patogen yang dapat membahayakan kesehatan kita melalui tangan atau kulit kita. Contoh mudahnya adalah layar hp. Nah lo kenapa dengan layar hp? Layar hp kita merupakan salah satu benda yang paling jorok looh?lah kok bisa? bayangin aja hp hampir tidak lepas dari genggaman kita. Dimanapun kita berada di situ hampir dapat dipastikan kita sedang membawa hp. Apalagi sekarang sudah eranya hp berlayar touchscreen.Nah semakin mudah saja bukan layar tersebut terkena paparan debu, cairan, atau makanan yang mengandung mikroba. Apalagi jika kita tidak cukup menjaga kebersihan layar kita. Kita juga terbiasa makan sambil bermain hp. Nah lo, hampir bisa dipastikan tangan kita telah terpapar beberapa jenis mikroba yang patogen kan?Kalau sampai mikroba tersebut tertelan atau masuk ke tubuh kita kan gawat jadinyaa.,bisa terjadi infeksi kalau bakteri itu patogen loooh,,,wiii sereem.
Bagaimana solusinya?saat ini penelitian berkembang ke arah antimikroba menggunakan nanopartikel (NP). Nanopartikel ini merupakan salah satu antimikroba yang bersifat anorganik.Menurut (Hajipour J.,et al.,2012) mengatakan bahwa terdapat beberapa nanopartikel yang memiliki sifat sebagai antimikroba. Diantaranya adalah ion Ag.CuO,ZnO,TiO2 dan gabungan dari beberapa partikel tersebut. Partikel-partikel ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan campuran untuk membuat suatu material yang dapat bersifat sebagai antimikroba. Salah satu material yang kini dikembangkan adalah kaca antibakteri. Corning, salah satu produsen kaca terbesar yang berasal dari Amerika kini juga mengembangkan kaca pelindung untuk layar smartphone dan laptop yang memiliki kemampuan sebagai antibakteri. Dilansir dari dokumen resmi Corning tahun 2014, bahwa kaca smartphone ini mengandung ion perak yang merupakan salah satu nanopartikel yang telah disebutkan tadi. Perpaduan antara nanopartikel dengan kaca pelindung layar akan menghasilkan kaca pelindung yang memiliki sifat antibakteri.
Nah sebenarnya bagaimana sih nanopartikel yang terdapat pada kaca tersebut mempu membunuh atau menghambat pertumbuhan mikroba?Menurut (Hajipour J.,et al.,2012), nanopartikel yang bermuatan tersebut akan berikatan dengan struktur yang terdapat pada membran sel bakteri yang kemudian akan mengakibatkan ketidakstabilan struktur membran tersebut. Jika struktur membran tidak stabil maka bakteri akan lebih mudah lisis (pecah selnya) dan akan mengalami kematian. Selain itu nanopartikel ini juga akan memproduksi radikal bebas yang mampu menginduksi terjadinya oksidative stress sebagai contoh adalah ROS( Reactive Oxygen Species). ROS ini akan mengakibatkan kerusakan yang bersifat irreversibel (tidak dapat dipulihkan) pada beberapa bagian dari sel mikrona tersebut seperti membran, DNA, dan mitokondria(untuk eukariot) sehingga mikroba akan mati.
Nah kemudian bagaimana efeknya terhadap kulit atau tangan kita yang memegang layar tersebut?apakah ada efek negatifnya? Nah salah satu kelebihan dari antimikroba yang satu ini adalah aman untuk jaringan kulit kita. Hal ini dikarenakan konsentrasinya yang rendah dan sangat spesifik terhadap membran sel bakteri, jadi nggak usah khawatir terkena efeknya yaa. Dengan adanya nanopartikel pada layar(kaca pelindung) smartphone ini maka mikroba-mikroba yang menempel di layar hp kita dapat dikurangi atau bahkan dimatikan sehingga layar menjadi lebih bersih.
Dengan adanya penemuan ini maka suatu hari nanti tidak menutup kemungkinan akan dibuat alat-alat lain yang juga memiliki aktivitas antimikroba, dengan begitu peralatan-peralatan yang kita gunakan secara otomatis akan bersih dari mikroba,khususnya mikroba patogen tanpa harus kita membersihkannya, woow keren bukaan. Bakteri Penghasil Listrik
Mungkin sebagian besar dari kita mengetahui tentang energi listrik kan? Energi listrik tersimpan pada muatan-muatan elektron, sumber-sumber magnet, reaksi-reaksi kimia dan lain-lain. Lalu dari manakah energi listrik yang ada di sekitar kita? ya benar energi listrik yang ada di sekitar kita sebagian besar berasal dari pembangkit listrik. Listrik berasal dari generator pada pembangkit yang berputar sehingga menghasilkan energi. Kita bisa lihat disini terdapat perubahan energi yaitu energi kinetik yang berasal dari generator yang berputar akan diubah menjadi energi listrik. Dari sini listrik akan dikumpulkan dan akan segera dialirkan melalui kabel menuju unit-unit yang membutuhkannya. Untuk menggerakkan generator-generator tersebut diperlukan suatu sumber energi diantaranya minyak bumi dan gas alam, batu bara, aliran air dan sebagainya. Nah bagaimana perkembangan energi listrik saat ini? pasti kalian juga sudah tahu kan pengembangan-pengembangan luar biasa tentang bagaimana energi listrik dihasilkan. Sel surya (solar cell) merupakan salah satu pengembangan yang saat ini masih dalam tahap optimasi namun sudah banyak diimplementasikan pada,masyarakat. Sumber-sumber penghasil elektron seperti senyawa asam dan senyawa organik lainnya juga sedang diteliti dalam upaya untuk melakukan pencarian sumber alternatif untuk menghasilkan listrik. Bahkan untuk menghasilkan energi listrik dari foton( energi cahaya) peneliti kini sedang mengembangkan suatu sitem yang meniru mekanisme fotosintesis pada tanaman tingkat tinggi yang dikenal dengan Artificial Photosythesis,,,woow keren kaan?? Nah yang satu ini yang akhir-akhir ini sedang dikembangkan yaitu Microbe electric. Nah lo apaan tuh, hahaha. Nah kalau sekilas dilihat dari tulisannya pasti ada hubungannya dengan mikroba kan? iya benar sekaliii, Jadi bagaimana kita bisa menghasilkan energi khususnya listrik dari konversi energi yang dihasilkan selama proses metabolismenya. Nah emang dari mana sih listriknya? Pertanyaan yang bagus sekaliii,hoho .Listrik yang dihasilkan berasal dari reaksi kimia yang terjadi saat metabolisme sel mikroba itu aktif. Nah pasti pada tahu tentang elektrokimia kan?bagaimana kemudian aliran elektron itu merupakan arus yang dapat diukur?nah gimana loo,,kalian masih ingat dengan yang namanya sel volta kan? nah gimana tuh mekanismenya? masih ingat dengan anode dan katode? kalau lupa nggak ada salahnya buat baca-baca lagi yaa.biar inget,hoho. Jadi dalam sebuah sel volta itu ada yang namanya elektroda yang terdiri dari katode dan anode. Nah pada anoda reaksi yang terjadi merupakan reaksi oksidasi sedangkan pada katode reaksi yang terjadi merupakan reaksi reduksi.. nah lo,apaan lagi tuh,dah ah buka lagi aja yaaaa buku kimia dasarnyaa..hahah.Nah kalau begitu apa hubungannya dengan mikroba? Kita tahu pada sel volta reaksi akan terjadi secara kontinyu dan saling berkaitan satu sama lain, artinya ketika salah satu teroksidasi maka yang lainnya akan tereduksi sehingga terjadi aliran elektron dari anode(teroksidasi) menuju katode(tereduksi). Nah aliran elektron inilah yang kemudian akan terukur sebagai arus.Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh (Lovley, 2008) dari University of Massachusetts menunjukkan bahwa mikroba-mikroba tertentu dapat mengubah senyawa organik menjadi listrik dengan menggunakan bantuan elektroda. Nah kok bisa? Beliau menjelaskan bahwa terdapat bakteri yang memiliki kemampuan untuk mentransfer elektron yang berasal dari dalam selnya menuju elektroda. Tapi nggak semua bakteri memiliki kemampuan ini ya. Menurut jurnal tersebut bakteri yang dapat mentransfer elektron ke elektroda memiliki protein redoks aktif di bagian membran yang berhubungan dengan elektrode. Transfer elektron ini dimediasi oleh kompleks cytochrome b-c hingga sampai di luar membran dan mengalir menuju elektrode. Bakteri yang memiliki kemampuan ini salah satunya berasal dari kelompok  Geobacteraceae .  Elektron yang ditransfer kemudian di alirkan  melewati elektrode dan dikumpulkan. Penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa elektron yang dihasilkan oleh bakteri mampu mereduksi Fe(III) pada katode, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa elektron yang dihasilkan sama seperti pada sel volta yang berarti arus listrik dapat diperoleh dengan sistem ini. Nah terus bagaimana cara memperoleh bakteri tersebut? Peneliti menggunakan elektroda dan medium selektif yang dapat menyeleksi bakteri yang mampu menghasilkan elektron tersebut. Berdasarkan jurnal yang telah dibaca bakteri terpilih akan menempel pada elektrode sebagai biofilm. Dari sinilah kemudian elektron akan dihasilkan. Saat ini penelitian ini masih berlanjut untuk mengetahui mekanisme lengkap mengenai transfer elektron tersebut karena terdapat beberapa protein yang belum diketahui fungsinya dalam proses transfer elektron. Selain itu optimasi rangkaian elektrode juga masih dalam penelitian guna mendapatkan arus dengan jumlah yang lebih banyak sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan di masa yang akan datang.. woww keren kaan? sekian dulu ya infonya, literatur ada di bawah ini ya kalau mau baca2 sendiri.hehe
