He knew what they were trying to say, their warm smiles slightly fading away from sight as he kept watching them.

He raised his own hand in farewell, a constricted feeling in his chest as he watched them turn and walk away into the light.

the aftermath.

sure, the character survived the illness, beat the infection, or was saved from their tormentors. but in the aftermath, they’re thin, weak, wrung out—so spent that they’re barely more than a shell of themselves.

they spend their days sleeping in bed for 14 hours at a time, too tired for their normal routines. they have to be carried, bathed, and fed, completely unable to do anything for themselves.

they’ve got permanent dark shadows under their eyes, face ravaged and hollowed out. even when they’re awake, they have a thousand-yard stare that indicates that wherever their mind is, it isn’t here.

their old clothes hang off their frame, and they hate how frail they feel drowning in clothes that used to fit perfectly. no matter how long they sit by the fire or how many blankets they huddle in, they cannot get warm.

if they’re not numb, they’re on edge and feel like their emotions are caught on a trip wire. the smallest noises make them flinch. the smallest infractions make them snap. and they know their friends know they don’t really mean it, but they’re secretly terrified of their friends’ mercy running out if it ends up they’re like this forever.

Hello wardens...

This is an ongoing translation project I've been working on (and bothering @doctorbunny while at it). I hesitated releasing it at its current state but I need to have some reminders and feel the pressure to finish it in a decent timeline. it also still needs some proofreading here and there.

So far, I translated all of the Deco*27 comments about the songs and they are kind of funny. The Mikoto one is very relatable as I had to create a Music Video for a "DID"-esque character and it was intense to prioritize what aspects of theirs to show. Amane was just hilarious. Here are some excerpts for fun:
