I've thought about it a bit and unfortunately, I think Amphoreus burnout is realβnot in the twitter/tumblr sense that I think Amphoreus was so long that I got tired, but more of that it was such an epic tale that everything that came after seems to pale in comparison.
It's crazy how Hoyoverse managed to make such a lovable cast of characters and give them all satisfying story arcs. Even though some fell somewhat short (coughs Hyacine coughs), there was still a certain form of magic in knowing all the characters were...bonded? Didn't have to be with us, the Trailblazer specifically, but there was a great world to be stepping into.
Live, laugh, love Cyrene, but I do think the arc got Very Long near the end so the amount of love I had for Amphoreans going into this planet had definitely waned a little throughout the entire year(!) we had been there.
Nevertheless, it's still really insane how Hoyoverse managed to create Amphoreus. The characters are all so great, especially in their humanity. Mydei believes Strife exists to eliminate Strife itself, Castorice finds so much beauty in life because she knows death, Phainon never wanted to be the hero the world needed, yet stepped up to the cause bravely, so on and so forth.
They ALL have such a great character to them. Even those released later still have such wonderful characters that it's hard to not give them a single thought at all when thinking of Amphoreus.
My interpretation of Amphoreus-burnout (coined lovingly by Twitter) is just that nothing seems to really compare to the Chrysos Heirs now. Unfortunately. Planarcadia definitely has noteworthy characters who are a joy to get character development for (Blade, Ashveil, SW999, more), but it feels so dull compared to the liveliness in Amphoreus.
Feels like Hoyo struck gold with Amphoreus and its cast, but they can't soar any higher than above the skies, so it's back to the Earth for us right now. Not the worst of planets (my ever-lasting grudge of Xianzhou Luofu will not budge), but Planarcadia coming after Amphoreus is akin to a feeling of returning home after a long and wonderful vacation. The trip was amazing, and boy does coming down from that high hurt like a motherfucker.
Not to sound like a negative nancy towards Planarcadia. It's just that after fighting in the trenches of Lygus trying to eradicate Nous, and dealing with a Lord Ravager, suddenly, Sparxie's livestreams feel like a glass of cold water dumped on the head.
Live long Amphoreus cast! HSR truly has never created a more endearing cast before, and it scares me to think this might be a last.
