Buffet Dining

After the research that I have done and upon asking and surveying students, I have come to the conclusion that keeping buffet dining would be the most cost efficient and favorable option for Miami University. I also believe that having an a la carte and buffet dining option at each location to allow more options for students as well. 

Students have been upset about this issue for a while now, one that has been plaguing a la carte locations for a while, unlike buffet locations which have a set rate they charge. 

This article from Miami University's student newspaper discusses the lack of staffing at dining halls, specifically the a la carte locations. Just one problem relating to switching to only a la carte dining.

Many people were upset with the cost of the meal plan on campus, so a cost effective method of eating (buffet dining) is often preferred because of this.

These are the results to my survey as to whether Miami University should get rid of Buffet Dining. There is clearly a large percentage of those who would not want that to happen.

I went to this at Harris and I had to wait for 30 minutes to even get in. I don't understand how they could justify wanting to shut down buffet dining here at campus considering their popularity.

Some people have commented in the surveymonkey expressing their opinions on this topic. In response to this, if you have any comments or complaints about the possible closing of buffet dining or any comments about the dining locations, you can go here to submit a comment about it.

Some opponents to Buffet Dining say that the food at these dining halls are rather unhealthy and/or there is no easy access to viewing the nutritional value of these meals. In response to this, I have found a link on the school's webpage that outlines the nutritional facts about the meals at ANY dining hall for any given day (since the buffet meals change daily).

After speaking to some upperlcassmen, some of whom are in ASG (Associated Student Government) and are RAs, they informed me that Miami University is planning on getting rid of all buffet dining over the next several years. Because of this, I did a research paper on this for English 111. For another assignment, we had to transform one of our essays into another form of media. I chose this topic and decided to do a tumblr page about it. I will also be posting a survey soon, along with facts about MU Dining and pictures.
