He mentally had to take a step back. “Well I’m sorry.” Stiles forced a roll of his eyes. “99% of the time people I care about with strangers leads to danger.”

“Are you hoping to figure out what I’m up to next? How I got out of that hole I was dragged down into? Or are you just having another fight with your best friend and hoping that it’s somehow my fault?”

Stiles remained looking forward. “No I just really wanted to hit you.”

The trouble is Stiles refuses to leave Derek alone and his incessant chatter is actually sort of… charming. Now Derek is completely head over heels for a man who often asks him if he would feel more comfortable talking in Spanish, and he has no idea how to come clean. Honestly, Derek’s kind of a coward. He would probably go on letting Stiles call him Miguel and insult his family, except you can’t sign a marriage licence with a fake name. He’s checked. 

He’s exasperated. It’s the fourth time he’s seen the kid in just a few weeks. “Tell me something, Stiles”, he says by the way of greeting, making the kid jerk and flail for a bit. “Are you doing this on purpose?” “What? What purpose? Me? No, I’m just a little bit of a walking disaster, doctor Hale. No purpose whatsoever.” Stiles looks completely innocent. Derek sighs, unconvinced. “If one’s an incident…” “I’ve sprained my wrist, it was legit!” “Two’s a concidence…” “I needed a new prescription.” “Three’s a pattern…” “Uh, I was… visiting a friend?” “Then what’s four, Stiles?” Stiles doesn’t have anything to say about that, asking him instead if they can grab a bite sometimes, together. Derek agrees. Just so Stiles doesn’t hurt himself anymore, on purpose or not. Or so he tells himself.

“Can you magically pull a circus of entertainment out of your ass?”

“I’ve never seen your eyes but I’d assume yours look the same way.” Matt teased before nudging the other’s bicep with his palm.

“Harde-Har-Har.” Stiles rolled his eyes, not expecting the sharp comeback. 

Lydia looked confused when he reproached her to be late, she didn’t even know there was a party in the first place. “The invite must have gotten lost… I wasn’t aware you invited me to your little tea party. What are we celebrating today ?’

“Why must there always be a reason for celebration?” He shook his head. “Hell I should just celebrate the fact that I got myself out of my bed this morning.” Stiles shrugged.
