It was a big deal for Scott to get this gig. A house party gave him a surprising amount of exposure. he wanted to do a good job. This could be enough to get him to start opening for more local shows. Maybe even for him to headline a show in the area somewhere. Scott leaning into the microphone, singing softly as he strummed on his guitar strings. The alpha had worked hard to build his band and make music that he could be proud of, and he was proud of his bassist and drummer being so on point tonight.
Everything was going great. The music was natural and people were dancing and enjoying themselves. He had a steady supply of drinking coming his way and plenty of people had already asked him for his number between sets. Whether for dates or for gigs, he didn’t really care. Scott was focused on his music and on his education. Nothing else mattered to him after getting out of Beacon Hills. After everything he’d been through, he just wanted some calm and some normal. Normal was surprisingly good.
And then, as usual, trouble came into his life. Theo Raeken walked into the party. The boy was so attractive, it was like time slowed down as he walked in. The fact he managed to stay on beat was more of a testament to how much he’d practiced and how much the song had become part of him rather than for how strong-willed he was. He hadn’t seen Theo since he’d come to Davis. Had he even known Theo was supposed to be coming to the same university? That life seemed so far behind him now. All he could remember was how much he longed for Theo to be on his side and how that never seemed to work out. It had come to a point where he felt like Theo belonged more to Liam’s own little clique than to Scott’s pack. And he’d been okay with leaving it there. At least, he thought he had been. Seeing Theo, though, had him questioning how okay he really was with the way things left off.
