Although, what I can tell u guys from Brexit, is that nothing happens super quick, and nothing happens super intense. I'm not saying a trump presidency will be rainbows and unicorns lmao or minimising your fears, but please understand that you're probably exhausted and frazzled watching the coverage, and it feels so much worse now than it will in a few weeks. I won't say the morning because it'll feel worse then lol, but in a few weeks everything will be surer and calmer. Also, however bad it is, presidencies are NOT permanent, ok. When I went to vote this morning Hillary Clintonâs name appeared more than once on the ballot. Each time she was listed under a different party or issue - one box was titled âwomenâs rightsâ, another âDemocratic Partyâ.
However, the instructions on the ballot clearly indicated you should only pick ONE box. I found this very confusing, so Iâm asking you to spread the word:Â
 if your candidate appears more than once on a ballot, only pick them ONCE. ANY of the boxes with their name on it will count.Â
 IF YOU PICK MORE THAN ONE YOU WILL INVALIDATE YOUR VOTE.Â

Wtf? How does this work? Iâm not saying I donât believe this!! Iâm just confused as to how and why the ballot was set up like this?
Itâs apparently called a âfusion ballotâ (doing my research because this was so weird):
besides the major parties like democrat, republican, libertarian, and green party, thereâs also smaller parties like âworking familiesâ and âwomenâs rightsâ. some of these smaller parties endorse candidates for larger parties - the womenâs rights and working families parties both endorsed hillary clinton.
However, in order to make it easier for people who vote on party lines to see their candidate, they list each party separately and their endorsed candidate.  That means Hillary Clinton appears under the âDemocratâ, âWorking Familyâ, and âWomenâs Rightsâ parties - three times on the same part of the ballot.
Iâve never seen this before voting in New York, and I donât know if it happens anywhere else, but thatâs why Hillary Clinton appears more than once!
If you select any ONE box that has her name in it, it will count as a vote for her, though.

Ahhhhhhhhhh I see, thank you for explaining! I'd say it makes sense but tbh it just seems like a misleading system. Our ballots in the UK are almost always pretty clear, so I always tend to get confused hearing about ballot papers over in the states.

The spines are so small you can barely see them, and they're barbed so if you try and pull them out the tiny evil ends will stay lodged in your skin for literally months they look pretty and they're super ~tumblr aesthetic~ but honestly it isn't worth it save yourselves
