Riga is one of the capitals of the Art Nouveau. Several buildings were erected between the end of the XIX cent. and the 1914. One of the most famous architect of this period is Michail Osipovič Ėjzenštejn (1867-1921), father of the famous movie director Sergej Michajlovič Ėjzenštejn.
Forte Carpenedo, Mestre-Carpenedo, Venice, Italy. Late 19th cent.
The Forte Carpenedo, together with Forte Gazzera and Forte Tron, constituted the so-called “Campo Trincerato di Mestre”, which was supposed to defend the city of Venice from enemies’ attacks.
This place, located in the countryside of Mestre, it is easy to find. It is also a naturalistic park. Just go northwards from Piazza Carpenedo.
