Have you ever played an Animal Crossing game before? Though I have been aware of the franchise for two decades, New Horizons is my debut into the cutesy world of Animal Crossing.

When did you start your island adventure? It turned out to be only two days following the game's fifth anniversary, after having concluded a week in prior that I needed a new video game to occupy my leisure time with... I also did acquire the Happy Home Paradise DLC after five months of exploring the base game.

Which island variables did you end up with? We've got them apples and tulips for the local flora, peaches being the sister fruit, and some oranges from mom, while pears and cherries remain the forbidden fruits... Dodo Airlines is themed yellow, my island tune can be heard here, and our flag can be viewed here. As for my starter villagers, I was accompanied by big-sis Katt and jockey Genji.

Which villagers are currently living on your island? Genji remains from the start, alongside Shino, Coco, Fang, Lobo, Keaton, Lyman, Chief, Simon and Marcel.

Which villagers have left your island? Whether I despised them, replaced them in favour of a new visitor or decided to let them leave the island, my ex-villagers include Chops, Alfonso, Poncho, Purrl, Clay, Cranston, Katt, Kitt, Frank and Zell.

What does your island look like? There's not too much of interest going on with my island, but you can check out my map here. (The map is continuously updated following any significant changes made to the island).

What does your home look like? My home is fully upgraded, including one storage expansion. You can view a video tour of my home here. You can also browse through select snapshots of my home's evolution here.

Do you plan to theme your island at some point? I see so many clever and fascinating designs in the hashtags, and I don't think I will ever have the aspiration to create anything like that for myself... I will probably stick to a more rural and natural look.

Do you have access to the game's online features? At the time being, I have not explored any of the game's online features, as I do not have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

How has your perspective on the game evolved so far? There are things that I appreciate about this game, and unfortunately some things that I do absolutely not appreciate about this game... You can browse through my thoughts, impressions and ramblings here.

Would you recommend this game to others? This is a decoration game with a largely female-based audience, and it is not for everyone... The initial story mode is slow-paced and will occupy you for about three weeks. Beyond this point, it will take you several months to collect a decent amount of furniture items to actually decorate your island with, especially if you are going for any specific theme on your island... I would suggest to look into what exactly this game is before deciding to get it. Intuitive discernment is always a good skill to have...
