It’s been a while (two years to be more precise!) since I last updated my Notting Hill/Reading collection and this idea has been in my mind for a long time 🩵

World Princess Week may have ended but now I want to celebrate the often forgotten princesses and leading ladies, such as Princess Kida. A pity, considering her character and this animation are too good in every aspect 🥹

I know it’s largely because it had a dismal release and minimal publicity, downplayed by The Mouse for having queer rep and an interracial main family, but straight up this is the most slept on Disney movie to come out in the past 2 decades.

It’s like if you took Atlantis: The Lost Empire and combined it with Treasure Planet and Osmosis Jones, without being a carbon copy of any them. I promise that if y’all are still die hard fans of Treasure Planet and Atlantis, Strange World was made for you. This movie deserves to be recognized as the third “doomed passion project”, when it is such an obvious love letter to the other two while telling its own story.

Also there’s a tripod dog having the time of his life, so it’s worth it to go watch Strange World just for that alone.
