i dont think tadc was the best thing that was ever created its not even my top 5 fave shows. but im so in love with the community that's been cultivated in irl spaces around my local area that i love it for that. it made me realize how much community truly did end up affecting how much i ended up liking an overall story.
after a story alone does not make a fandom. its the people that respond to said story. and quite frankly @ any tadc fan on tumblr you will not find the best community on this site. do what i do and keep your distance from most of the discussion online.
tadc is about appreciating what you get to have in an otherwise "stagnant life" anyway . youre not going to find that in a digital space. go outside touch grass, no matter how you ended up feeling about the finale in the end it'd be much wiser to open up your eyes n see how the actual people around you respond to the show rather than somebody's online avatar

i'm not a fandom newbie so i'm not saying this with the naivety and trust that this won't be taken the wrong way. i'm trying to reintegrate myself back into my interests with my own voice this time. i've been spreading my engagement with fandom a lot more with IRL meetups, parties, and conventions. and that has changed my perspective heavily on what it means to be in a fandom + in general it sparked a love i forgot i had when it came to engaging with people's work. i've met much more people of color especially than i've ever had in comparison to the heavily white spaces the dominate online culture (looking at the critical tags of any fandom space especially...)
there are genuinely much more ways to be a productive activist than to go in fandom tags and revolve your identity around things you hate. no matter what race you are, but i especially see too much of people that Are White that have the audacity to disguise white knight behaviors as actual activism. i'm tired of this cycle happening over and over again
i think at the end of the day what i really wanna get at is "for the love of god stop depending on white creators to represent people of color's experiences or culture." you're going to be disappointed no matter what. the benefit of being a person of color with community is that we can step away from that shit and remind ourselves that not everyone is ignorant when it comes to race, but not everyone has that advantage (especially and unfortunately too for bipoc users that are isolated race wise in their communities)
i know it sucks like hell when you desperately want the Very Popular Thing from a Very Popular Creator to be Removed From Racism, and it is going to be disheartening no matter what when realizing that white people genuinely cannot wrap their head around racism. Racism is foreign to white folks/people of color with internalized racism in spite of the way people of color have to live through on their every day, no matter what their stance is on when it comes to racism.
I'm not saying that white people are incapable of being held accountable. in fact, in a perfect world, white people should. but most won't. there is nothing they have to lose if they don't, and most that acknowledge their privilege do not have the courage to own up to their actions. this is not a statement of excuse. this is a statement of a burned out person of color that is tired of relying on white people to be the only standout voices amongst indie.
stop relying on white people to not disappoint you. and stop punching down on other bipoc people just because they engage or create in a way that doesn't cater to your tastes
i fear that many "well intentioned" people with all sorts of complicated feelings all get the wrong idea, choosing to drown out passionate fans of color that have felt uplifted/have found community amongst fandoms, even if the media or the people behind it are heavily flawed in their ideals/practices of engaging with race
unfortunately, as a person of color and as someone who wants to prioritize our voices when the opportunity is there (especially with indie work, as the idea of it being more white dominated would worry me), I feel like recycling old habits from how fandoms used to be with Big Boy Company hows is not the way to go. going out of the way to nitpick behavior/decisions and labelling them as bigoted akin to hatespeech/crime is far from anything that actively encourages the creativity we need in this day and age. i won't even give credit for it; it is actively, useless noise that does nothing for bipoc fans
i can't tell people to stop posting critical shit, especially when there are designated spaces for it. but it concerns me that fandom culture has not done any evolving. things need to change soon, and i know i'm only one person but i cannot be alone in believing that fandom communities need to become communities again, starting with the minorities that constantly get talked over when it comes to fandom discussion.

i pity that your reaction to "support bipoc artists/fans/creators instead of constantly complaining about white mediocrity/failure as angry engagement = still attention confirming engagement" is to exactly prove my point in why fandom spaces need a lot of self reflection and work. i genuinely hope that people like you can find some sense of empathy for your fellow users of color and realize that we are not even close to being enemies.

TADC spoilers 4 the last act (after cut), tldr and a couple disclaimers in tags
Tired of people complaining that the show should've had more lore focus on certain things or characters. It's a one season show, we KNEW it would be a once season show. Name me a single 1 season show of the same runtime with the level of depth you're demanding of TADC.
You never wanted a show, you wanted a lore dump and character sheets so you could play with them like dolls instead of actually engaging with the themes of the show.
You don't have to like Jax as a character but she and Pomni are the main characters, this is a confirmed thing. You can like the side characters more than the main characters! That's quite a common thing actually! But saying the show is bad because your specific blorbo didn't get a lot of screentime, in an episode where it was really quite clear by the marketing that it would be focused on the main characters, is just not very clever.
You can not like the show, but saying 'it should've been written like x' or 'we should've gotten more y lore' when those things would have been basically just fanservice and not done much to push the themes or conclusions of the show/ would have pushed the runtime beyond reasonable expectation isn't really valid criticism and I'm not going to sit here and pretend that it is. Pick up a pen/ notes app and write some fanfiction.
Also using the fact that Jax did bad things as an excuse to say transphobic things because of the strong implication that she's trans is just not okay and if you cant see that you need to get off the internet for a little while please. I'm not trying to be mean I'm serious, any type of person can do bad things that doesn't make it okay to use bigotry to get back at them. If you don't know what I'm talking about and think I'm making shit up to make jax haters sound evil do yourself a favour and do not open any comment sections on instagram it's not a fun place to be. (Free block lists though...)
Do I think it was the best thing ever in the whole world? No, it's wrong to put media on a pedestal like that. But regardless of if you personally LIKED it or not, the finale tied up the shows themes in a satisfying, if bittersweet way. It was coherent, the characters had depth, and honestly ill take not knowing any more about c&a/bubble/side character lore over all of that getting crammed in and fucking up the pacing.
Sometimes the emotional moments are more important. The company is the backstory not the story, same with the people who already abstracted. They're important for flashbacks, backstory and again, theming, but they were never going to do much outside of haunting the narrative. (I still love them a lot and WILL be specifically looking for ribbit fics on a03 over the next few weeks, I'm not a side character hater I just believe in realistic expectations for a finale episode)
Anyway I liked it a lot, will be rewatching when it hits YouTube so I can pause and properly take in some of the absolute beauty (holy fuck have they improved since the pilot), I'm so happy the fandom didn't put gooseworx off from finishing the show because it really is great and I hope despite everything she is able to look at the show and be proud.
And at the end of the day, she is indeed lovely, she is wonderful, she is precious, and it really does feel like despite it all the finale was made from love <3. (Yes I did cry when this song played it felt targeted and I loved every second of it)
so mordeson is a p popular ship, but why has nobody considered rigson?
seriously like!! ok i’ve been very enthusiastic about rigson ever since i’ve gotten back into regular show and when i watch episodes with a lot of rigby and benson interaction (which there aren’t many unfortunately) like the lunch club and expert or liar i just! love their dynamic! and i wish it was explored more!
and i think a lot can be done with them and it doesn’t even have to be romantic or anything, even just platonically i think that their relationship can be so meaningful especially since they’re similar in some ways but equally different in others and it makes for a good combination
anyway, i guess what i’m trying to say is please consider rigson. let the rigson into ur soul. make some fanworks maybe?? (there are almost none :’)) and feel free to send me asks about it (send them to my main blog @yyaroslav) b/c i would love to talk about it!
