Yesterday, my gay cousin Serafín Amable — who's the same age as me — was told at the eye doctor that he needs glasses. Today, he took a profile picture so people could give him their opinions. It took me about two seconds to tell him they look fantastic on him. That puts me in a tricky spot. If I ever needed glasses, I've always pictured myself wearing a pair of acetate frames — not too thick, kind of softly rounded rectangles. They give off an intellectual vibe that would definitely work in my favor. But I'm not the kind of gay guy who copies other people. So now I need to start thinking about alternatives. In the meantime, I'm asking Saint Lucy to keep my eyesight exactly as it is.
