Heritage land

A vertical forest is expected to be completed this year in Milan. There are two tower apartment complexes which contain a total of 400 residential units. The facade of the buildings will be covered with 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 perennial plants. It is expected to have the same ecological impact as 10,000 square meters of forest.

Te Tuhirangi Contour at Gibbs Farm Richard Serra

Serra’s 56 steel plates lean out by 11 degrees from the vertical and trace a single contour line across the land in a way that, in the artist’s words, “collects the volume of the land.” The work is a hallmark of the strong relationships formed between collector and artist. Serra says of meeting Gibbs, “The first thing he said to me was ‘I’ve just been to Storm King [which has Serra’s Schunnemunk Fork 1990-91] and I want a more significant piece than that. I don’t want any wimpy piece in the landscape.’”

A race film masterpost in honor of Black History Month. The “race film” was a film genre which existed in the United States between about 1915 and 1950. It consisted of films produced for an all-black audience, featuring all-black casts. Approximately five hundred race films were produced, however less than one hundred have survived to this day.  [x]
