Basic Python - Iâve been meaning to do this for ages and I have started doing the Google Python class which has already taught me quite a bit.
Touch-typing - I am not very good yet but I try to practice every day. I use tipp10 to train and 10fastfingers to track my progress.
How to organize stuff in Notion - Notion is a real game-changer since it allows me to have all my notes in one place. Iâve also started consuming media more consciously by taking notes on things I read and watch.
Basic Norwegian - I canât really explain why I started learning Norwegian (I blame Skam and Erling Haaland) but itâs been very fascinating. I mainly use Duolingo now but I plan on using other resources.
Hope this was interesting to some of you :) I plan on posting more regularly now that uni is starting again. Please feel free to share some new interests and hobbies you've picked up this summer!

I am a Psychology MSc student at a Dutch university. I currently have an 8.5 GPA which is roughly equivalent to a 4.0. I've studied in the Netherlands for almost 4 years now and I thought I would put together some tips on how to maintain good grades and stay organized. While I hope this is helpful, please keep in mind that these tips just come from my experience!
Study smart, not hard
There was a time during my studies when I wouldn't take any notes in class and my exam preparation focused on re-reading summaries and lecture notes. While this sounds like a stupid idea, the main reason I did this was that I only had multiple choice exams for most of my bachelor's. Would I have done better if I would have been able to reproduce all materials in my own words? Probably. But for MC exams, the most important skill to develop is being able to recognize concepts not to reproduce them.
Of course, I don't want to encourage you not to take notes or only re-read and highlight during exam preparation. However, before preparing for an exam, you should always ask yourself: What is expected of me? Do you need to recognize buzz words? You might be fine with re-reading. Do you need to explain complicated concepts in your own words? Active recall is your friend. Do you need to write a piece of code on the fly? Do some practice problems.
It's very important to get crystal clear on what is asked of you in an exam and spend time practicing that skill. Else, you risk wasting your time or even worse getting bad grades because you only re-read your notes for a test that requires you to put concepts into your own words.
Fry the big fish first
Before I start a new year, I make an overview of each subject I will be taking. How many credits is each subject worth? What is the breakdown for each subject? How much of your grade comes from the exam? This gives you an indication of what you need to spend the most time on.
For example, I had to do an internship during the first year of my master's. The internship report was worth 21 credits, which is more than a third of the credits for the entire year. Naturally, I spent a lot of time doing this and making sure it was good. I actually managed to pull up my GPA a little bit just because the report was worth that much.
Practice your writing
Now, this might not apply to all courses, but if you study at university, chances are you will have to write a thing or two. Even if you don't like writing, here are a few tips:
Stick to the formatting guidelines. In psychology, we use APA guidelines, which detail the structure of a paper, fonts, title formatting, and much more. It's super tedious but also an easy way to get down-graded if you don't stick to it. Make sure that you know what is expected and follow it. The same goes for word counts.
Know what your professor wants. Sort of contrary to the first point, but some professors have special rules that they want you to stick to. When in doubt, I would always follow what the person grading you tells you to do, even if it goes against some official guideline.
Get feedback on your writing. For example, write a couple of paragraphs using different writing styles (e.g. formal vs. informal) and have your professor check them to see which style they prefer. You might not always get the chance to do this, but if you can definitely get some feedback. You could also use office hours or ask if it is okay to submit a draft to get more feedback.
Learn more about how to write. Believe it or not, I've had several classes on how to write throughout my four years at university. I don't consider myself a good writer at all, but these classes have shown that there are certain tips that anyone can use to become a better writer. The book Style: Lessons in Clarity and Grace offers a good idea of what you could improve if you need to do academic writing.
Use a spell and grammar checker (I use Grammarly).
Proof-read. Always.
Get organized
To be fair, this is probably the one I struggled most with throughout the last years. Again I would like to give a few examples:
Have a calendar. Or two. Have a central place where you keep all of your deadlines. Take some time at the beginning of the semester to create an overview. I personally use Google Calendar, which allows me to import all of my lectures and course deadlines.
Time block. I've only very recently started using this method but it is a real game-changer. Whatever you plan on doing, put it into our agenda with a designated time frame. For example, I planned on learning Python this summer. Now instead of just winging it, I always put it into my Google calendar.
Have a central to-do list. This is such a good tip when you feel overwhelmed, too. Just take an empty sheet of paper and write out EVERYTHING you need to do. Once you have done this you can sort according to urgency and start making a schedule. The crucial point is to not use your brain as a to-do list, but an external system that you can rely on.
Prepare. This ties into some of the previous points. I use the summer holidays to prepare for the next year. I write out requirements for each class, read through the syllabus, and check out if there is some required reading so I can get a head start on. It can make the first few weeks a lot less stressful.
Learn about learning
I'm big on self-help and I watch a ton of studytubers and follow studyblrs and studygrams. Of course, it is entertaining, but it has also inspired me in so many different ways and quite literally changed my life.
In this post, I tried to put together a comprehensive guide with what has worked for me. However, everyone is different and chances are not everything that works for me will work for you. This is why it's so important to gather inspiration from different sources. When you encounter a study tip: Try it out, see if it works for you. If it does, great. You just found yourself a new strategy. If not, just let it go. At least now you know what doesn't work and you have gained some experience.
If you're looking for a place to start, I absolutely adore Ruby Granger and I've learned a lot from Ali Abdaal. I can also recommend @lovelybluepanda, who is one of the main reasons I got into languages.
Thank you for reading through this long post & happy studying!

Earth, as the natives call it, has always produced terrifying creatures. Once the huge monsters were gone, replaced by the small bipedal things, some were foolish enough to think it was better.
Some knew that whatever came after the large monsters had to be far more terrifying, despite how appearances made it look. They were right.
We watched as humans destroyed themselves, each other, and eventually the Earth. When they did reach the stars, we knew it would be to destroy us as well.
We were right.
They didnât destroy us with force or famine like they have before. They destroy us with war, despite having warriors with the skill and determination to do so. They didnât even destroy us with false kindness and subterfuge.
Among all the terrible things humans created over the years, there was one thing that we could see from our safe distance. One thing that unites and divides us more than anything else in the history of the galaxy.
Humans call them memes.
Because the first thing humans offered us upon entering the galaxy was their internet, all of their history and knowledge and culture in one database. And of everything we now had at our disposal, memes became widespread.
We became obsessed, understanding them, sharing them, and creating new ones. The galaxy was so wrapped up in these memes that we fell complacent.
Humans seemed to be immune to the effects of memes. Either that or they became desensitized over the years. They rose to positions of power quickly so that we could continue our obsession.
Our history was changed, told in forms of memes. Our stories changed. Such was the power of human creativity.
One day we looked up and realized humans had altered everything we were, and everything we created we handed them to shape on their own. We were destroyed, remade as a poor forgery of humanity.

what's the wisest thing to invest on as a student? i wanna treat myself but i want to be prudent and look out for my future self
Invest in your self care! Thatâs literally the most important investment you can have during your academic years. If you imagine your future self being happy, wealthy, and well taken care of then you need to start now. Being prudent is just a scam they tell us so that we can work hard and be unhappy. Part of being a successful student is being happy and in a good mental/physical space so that you can focus on studying and getting good grades and subsequently be able to create wealth in the future. Iâm not saying blow all your money, but worry less about âsavingâ or being âfrugalâ because you have to believe that your loans and all financial worries will be taken care of so you donât actually have to worry. I probably spend $3-4k a month on self care treatments and my classmates are always so shocked because weâre supposed to be âbroke/struggling med school student.â That may be their story but itâs not mine and I donât want to claim that. Treat yourself and donât feel guilty about it! You need your pampering and rest now, school is stressful af so donât buy into that false struggle narrative. Here are some really great, relaxing self care rituals I recommend.
Monthly professional massages. This helped so much with my chronic piriformis/low back pain. I add the cupping and lymphatic drainage and feel like Iâm in my teenage body again đ
Nail salon twice a month. Mani/pedi unless itâs winter then maybe Iâll just do manicures
Cryotherapy a few times a month. This is something new I started this year. Itâs soooo good for circulation and post workout soreness
Professional facials once a month. Get a skin consult and they will help assess and tailor your skincare routine
Eyelash extensions every 2-3 weeks. Another new treatment I started this year. Itâs soooo much better than having to glue on fakes and actually look so natural and pretty. Makes me feel super feminine and I get compliments all the time
Brow threading and tinting every 2-3 weeks, brow lamination once every 2 months. My brows feel so soft and look so sexy afterwards
Laser hair removal. My đą is so cute afterwards and itâs much quicker than waxing, lasts longer, and hurts a lot less. Plus better for your sensitive skin down there and lessens the impact of hyperpigmentation. Most places allow you to pay in monthly installments
Monthly or bi-monthly solo dinners. This has been my favorite self care implementation so far. Itâs so empowering and relaxing going to an upscale restaurant to take yourself out to dinner. Itâs such a great way to freestyle. I normally pick a different restaurant each time and most times I end up not having to pay for my dinner because I met someone. Even if you donât meet someone the goal is to have fun with yourself and enjoy your own company. Meeting someone is just a bonus
3 Lessons from a Former Overachiever/Burnt Out Student
3.17.22
When I was in high school, I was CEO of Overachieving. I was top of my class, president of every club that my school offered, and I got into my dream school. But I was so tired, anxious, and burnt out. I carried the burden of perfectionism throughout my first semester of college and even into the first two months of this spring semester.
Achievement is wonderful. Dream your dreams, set your goals, and work hard for your future. But do not neglect your present self at the expense of your future self. Personally, this results in burnout and stress. While this lesson is difficult, I have condensed this pursuit into three manageable steps.

Quiero encontrarte, pero te me escapas⌠te zambulles en el viento, esquivando mis manos, y me dejas queriendo no dejarte de buscar, porque bien sabes que nadie me darå lo que sólo tú estås hecha para darme.
â Esu EmmanuelŠď¸, I want to find you, but you escape me... you dive into the wind, dodging my hands, and you leave me wanting not to stop looking for you, because you know well that no one will give me what only you are made to give me.

Cellular genetic (making a resume and trying to memorise it)
Physiopathology, studying inflammation (which I have no idea how it works)
Today is very busy. I have ton of materials to cover and zero time. I am tired already
4th March: What's your usual cafe order? is it always the same or do you try new things?
I have never been to a Cafe in the traditional sense. But if I were I would pick the same order
5th March: What are your favourite shows? Is there anything specific you like about them?
I like it Sherlock Holmes series. Binge watched it 3 times. I like crime mystery as a genre and I loved the as**olish personality of sherlock
6th March: Do you have a favourite movie in particular or do you like them by genre? What's your favourite movie and/or genre?
I like them by genre and I generally do not stray far from specific genre or if it is an adaptation of a novel I really like it I would give it a try. My favorite genre is crime mystery, thriller and dark fantasy. Any dark themed movies are my cup of tea
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, itâs literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while weâre talking about books, if youâve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely donât go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately theyâre completely free.
2nd March: Do you consider yourself a workaholic? What times do you feel most productive?
So I was not consistent with everything but I will from now on. No, I most definitely am not a workaholic. I feel productive early morning and evening. anything more and you catch a dead zombie
3rd March: If you could make your own garden (consider that it is self-tending, and has the perfect environment for the plants youâd choose) how would you plan it out? styles, locations, fauna youâd plant, furniture? Just talk about your dream garden.
Nope, I do not think I am ever going to do that. Too much responsibilities are not good for me
