Looped.
Did men ever look in the mirror, I wondered, and find themselves wanting in deeply fundamental ways? When they opened a newspaper or watched a film, were they presented with nothing but exceptionally handsome young men, and did this make them feel intimidated, inferior, because they were not as young, not as handsome? Did they then read newspaper articles ridiculing those same handsome men if they gained weight or wore something unflattering?

Examples of Stockholm Syndrome in Disney
Frollo and Quasimodo
Mother Gothel and Rapunzel
Frollo and Mother Gothel convince Quasimodo and Rapunzel that their lives are dependent on them. The two villains claim the outside world is a terrible place even though they know this is not true. They also constantly emotionally abuse their victims by implying their worthlessness and destroying their self-esteems. Quasimodo and Rapunzel sympathize with their captors and even believe their captors are protecting them and treating them with kindness. However, both captors are merely using and manipulating their victims for their own selfish purposes.
NOT:
The Beast and Belle
Belle does not sympathize with the Beast when she is treated poorly. She becomes angry and leaves the castle, only returning by her own wish so that the Beast (who saves her) does not freeze to death. She does not respond nicely towards the Beast until he treats her with respect. In this situation, Belle has control and is not manipulated into feeling for the Beast, nor does the Beast treat her disrespectfully after the first night. While the Beast does have an underlying motive as to keeping Belle in his castle, he abandons this idea and sets her free to make her happy. If anything, this story is a case of Lima Syndrome where the captor starts to sympathize with the victim.
Check out this post which refocuses the purpose of Beauty and the Beast from merely (and wrongly) being about Stockholm Syndrome to it’s original purpose.
FUCKING FINALLY
I don’t usually reblog stuff like this, but Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie and I’d like to have this on my page!
this is actually a very good analysis. I take back all the times I’ve called Beauty and the Beast a ‘stockholm syndrome’ romance.

A very disrespectful friend of a intimate friend triggered this rant.
First up, when a merchant/business decides to inbox you the price it is NOT to rob you in a chipa goli; we honestly do NOT have the time. We ask you to inbox because 1. the market is crawling with copies/replicas and if someone offers you a fake product at just 20tk less, you'll swarm to them and question the original merchant's pricing. 2. It helps us filter out genuine clients versus well, the kind like you.
This is an old debate but I'll address this none the less; the LIVES. You hate them, I know. They bore you, I know. You're much, much above that; I know that too. Do you realize it is our work? The lives we do, the posts we post they are a part of our WORK. Do you have any idea how much sales a Facebook Live generates? I’d like to see YOU generating 10,000tk worth of sales. None of the people conducting the LIVES are professional; everyone is awkward and self conscious; but they have to do it because it is a part of their job. It's completely understandable if is not relevant to you. Facebook has a beautiful unfollow option for you to click and get out of the whole mess without disrespecting anyone.
Please realize without these small F-commerce businesses you would be stuck buying fake, expired products from the supershops. Overall, just for once at least TRY to wrap your head around the fact that there are jobs outside your fancy corporate headquarters. Just because people are doing something different than you, it does NOT give you the free-pass to disrespect the job that they do.Be grateful; if you can't be then at least don't disrespect these people who put in their everything every single day.
7 things to remind yourself of every day …
1. I am unique 2. I am worthwhile 3. I am worthy 4. I can change 5. I can make it 6. I can succeed 7. I can be happy and have a great life.
Nothing like grade B Bollywood songs to push you through WEEKS worth of backlog journals at three in the morning. 🤷🏾♀️
Tonight I was missing Will so much; SO BLOODY MUCH that I had a stomach ache. Yet, I knew I simply could not go through the heartache of it all. So I did what is expected of me when I have 25 orders to sort...I went and watched the snippets of the feature film. I was over the whole crying and feeling mushy, sad and lonely in about 10 minutes. MOVIES SUCK.
Although, I’m beginning to understand the importance of the film adaptations of novels...

Thing about #TBR pile I've come to realize is ~ you never actually do have enough books. It's just the mess and the people around you convincing you otherwise.
While coming back home from my class, I was waiting for a bus/leguna/UBER/Pathao at Mohakhali Wireless bus stand. It wasn't overly crowded or anything but someone brushed passed me purposefully pressing against my left breast. I looked around to see who wanted sexual gratification from me without my consent. It was a guy in those shitty synthetic dirty-white shirts. Probably my Baba's age. Or maybe younger, you can never tell with these struggling people. He was haggling to get on a bus, smirking. I kept looking at him and suddenly I thought he's going to grope other women on the bus. I snapped, out of the blue. I ran, grabbed him by his collar and pushed him. The bus had already started to move so he lost his balance and fell on his back. I could see he was hurt. Before he could do anything further, I stepped on his throat. Now, I'm heavy; something around a 100 kilos. He couldn't breathe, his eyes were bulging. It was disgusting. He somehow managed to fold his hands together. I stomped on his face till it was bloody. No one said anything, no one asked anything. I walked away and got into a leguna. Someone asked me ki hoise Apu? I replied, "Gaye haat dise." I swear I had a milimeter berth from everyone in the packed leguna.
If I let this guy go unscathed he'd get on the bus and grope some other woman/girl/child. He would someday Allah maaf koruk revert back to my sister.
So please step up. Always step up. Everytime you step up you limit other women's exposure to molesters, abusers and rapists. Then maybe someday it'll be safe to have a daughter.
For those wondering, I was in a kameez with my dupatta drapped all proper, approved by my my mother. ✨
It has been ages since she made Baba check for monsters before going to bed. Fending off phantoms are easy. It's the fear of the monsters called humans that consume her everyday.

She refused to let it go. She grabbed him by his collar and broke his nose single handedly. As she walked away she knew, she isn't letting it go; not for her, not for anyone in the world ever again.
Weeks. It's been weeks since she's had a sound sleep. She was sleepy, tired, cranky and longed for the comfort of lying down on her bed, cuddle with Bay and drift off to sleep. She still couldn't believe she left Bay behind.
The bell rang. She had a parcel and it was all paid for. It wasn't too heavy and had no names signed. Baffled she took the parcel and opened it. And there it was -her very battered, worn out throw pillow, Bay. She squealed in delight and hugged Bay close. It was almost good as being back home. She was about to call her mother when a little note fell out of the parcel.
"You chhagoler baccha, how are you an adult and can't live without a stupid pillow? And if it's so important HOW DO YOU LEAVE IT BEHIND? I can't believe mom considers you intelligent. I know you haven't had a decent sleep in two days. I spent half of my tuition money to get you this so I had better get that highlighter I've been eyeing. Miss you not, Nini.'

It was her favorite time of the day; she could snap her laptop close and go home. When she got out of the office, it was unusually bright. She suddenly realized days are becoming longer. Impulsively she took out her phone and texted her mom that she would be late.
~
She rang the doorbell and waited paitenly; she knew it will be a while that the door opened. Nanabhai was finallty at the door, fumbling with the keys. He saw her and his face lit up like a Christmas Tree. "Aree amar Bujan chole esheche!" he cried. Once she crossed the threshhold, she was overwhelmed by kisses and cuddles. All the comotion brought Bujan out from her Quran recitals as well. Bujan didn't do cuddles; all she got from her was scoffs that her granddaughter was too busy for her own good. They suddenly realized that she was there straight from work and together started fumbling to get her something to eat. Bujan was surly because if she had informed she could have had her favorite dishes.
"Why do I bother looking for love anywhere else?" she wondered as tears caressed down her cheeks.
In the wee hours of the morning, after a small meal she looked for his warmth. She remembered that he stopped 'feeling like' being with her-whatever that meant. She tapped into her neverending determination from the back of her mind, put the phone away and fell asleep.
