Realm of Myths

Listen. I need to tell you. That I deeply adore cute little ghosties. And I know Poyomon isn't actually a ghost, but I absolutely LOVE Poyomon with every fiber of my being. It just melts my heart.

These two found each other and instantly became the best of friends. They are inseparable and will grow up together as brothers and I have their evolution lines planned!

I have simply and affectionately nicknamed them "Poyo" and "Popo", because at first, like Pokemon, that's all they can say. But they understand each other completely! It isn't until after they become Tokomon that they start speaking.

As Poyomon, Popo is generally quiet and reserved. Poyo is just a ball of sunshine, and always leading the way with no fear. He's just the happiest lil' guy. Unless you are mean to Popo, then you're getting head-butted and squeaked at with all the intimidation he can muster. God bless his little heart.

Over the weekend I dug out my old drawing tablet and got it working, downloaded Gimp, and now I can start doing digital art again!

I'd never used Gimp before, thank goodness its very similar to Photoshop because I felt like I'd forgotten nearly everything I knew about doing digital art. So, much of my time was spent relearning how.

I'd colored a whole layer and moved to the next one, only to have the program mysteriously glitch and my last resort was to close out and hope that I had saved after the previous layer.

Turns out that I had not saved.

I always drew his hair so long back then. So the other day, from that sketch I did this one with his hair tied back:

Wow, so..! I haven't picked up a pencil in several years now. But lately, I've really thought about finally trying to draw something again!

It's been 9 years since I drew this guy..! Also Digimon Tamers has reached its 25th anniversary!

God I remember when it first aired. I'd seen announcements for it on tv and I was eager to check it out. At the time I'd seen bits and pieces of Adventure and 02 and just couldn't get into it. When Tamers came out, I stuck with it and I was hooked.

So, for a long time I’ve wanted to design an Adult form for Impmon.  In Xros Wars/Fusion, Beelzemon was finally given an Ultimate form, Baalmon.  I guess we can take that as canon?   I’d seen it suggested that Baalmon digivolves from Wizardmon..  which I.. don’t agree with..  Clearly it looks as though Baalmon’s design is influenced by Wizardmon’s design..  But I just can’t see Impmon turning into Wizardmon.  I thought if I could borrow elements of Baalmon’s and Wizardmon’s designs though to kind of find something in between..  Initally I pictured an Impmon in a very Wizardmon-like outfit, but I didn’t want that.  I didn’t want Impmon to go from no clothes to fully clothed.  So I decided to give him just a little something, and felt that his Adult form should stay more animal-like.  I tried and tried designs that were more humanoid, but my mind would NOT stop insisting that for whatever reason, the Adult form should basically be a larger Impmon with a kangaroo-like lower half??  Well, my inner voice has never steered me wrong, so I just caved and went with it.

I drew something!

Last weekend, a member of my Pokemon Go raid group posted a Machop she hatched, and for whatever reason I suddenly felt motivated to draw the Machop evo line.  Machoke turned out looking like a cat, lol. 

Really hope I can catch a Ho-oh this weekend!!
