A new chapter of Analog Instruments is up! For this preview, I decided to go with a snippet that, ironically, echoed recent canon events, even though it's, yanno, not the same situation.

They couldn’t know. Kyo loved him because he made him feel human. Tomoro loved him because he was his protector. They couldn’t know what happened. Just how much Asuka’s mind was damaged. A different man had taken a friend and a brother’s place. Some kind of changeling monster.

You know when you're PTSD is so bad it literally does change the way that your brain reacts to information, and you're aware of that? And you feel like you're a totally different person on the inside. Someone that the people who loved you before can't possibly love now. That you've somehow killed that version of you that they deserve. Yeah, sorry folks, but Asuka's going through it.

I love Date.

In fact, she's about the only human character I do like in Cyber Sleuth or Hacker's Memory, aside from Chitose and the protagonists. Everyone else is annoying at best. (And tbh the CS protag is pretty bland. Ironic since Keisuke's supposed to be the bland unnoticeable one, but he's got a lot more personality and I think he's adorable.)

(I really wish she liked sweet cinnamon roll Chitose instead of jerkass Ryuji...)

But yeah I love how she acts so tough but then absolutely melts around cute Digimon.

And I love how Lopmon's her Digimon partner in HM if you take Makiko with you for the turf war cases.

I'm sorta-kinda tempted to stick her in one of my fics, like the Time Stranger-verse version of her could work in Public Safety. (Although if Kyoko is Inori's age in that verse, I guess Date would be too...?)

Anyway, I'm glad she has a fairly big role in HM. I'm not done with it yet (on Chapter 11), so I'm interested to see what else happens with her!

Listen. I need to tell you. That I deeply adore cute little ghosties. And I know Poyomon isn't actually a ghost, but I absolutely LOVE Poyomon with every fiber of my being. It just melts my heart.

These two found each other and instantly became the best of friends. They are inseparable and will grow up together as brothers and I have their evolution lines planned!

I have simply and affectionately nicknamed them "Poyo" and "Popo", because at first, like Pokemon, that's all they can say. But they understand each other completely! It isn't until after they become Tokomon that they start speaking.

As Poyomon, Popo is generally quiet and reserved. Poyo is just a ball of sunshine, and always leading the way with no fear. He's just the happiest lil' guy. Unless you are mean to Popo, then you're getting head-butted and squeaked at with all the intimidation he can muster. God bless his little heart.

Not long after becoming Tokomon though, Poyo's personality starts to change.
