For drabbles could I please have some Dipeon post-weirdmaddeom? (Like Dipper returns with Mabel for their second summer in the Falls or maybe winter vacation)
Gideon hadn’t expected to see the Pines twins in December, but since Stanford and Stanley Pines were still in town, it made sense. Gideon himself had been too busy with Christmas the first two days of their visit. But on the 26th, he had stepped out into the snow, bundled up in his coat and scarf, and in the midst of his snow activities with Ghost Eyes and his other friends he spotted them.
The chanting of “Pines Pines Pines Pines!” was unmistakable, and Gideon turned his head from the snowman building to see two sleds speeding down the icy roads, each steered by an older Pines twin with a younger one nestled between their knees.
“Hey, your girlfriend’s back, Gideon!” Ghost Eyes remarked.
“She, uh, she’s not really my girlfriend anymore,” Gideon clarified, then turned back to his snowman-making.
As the Pines family walked back up the incline, Stan and Ford carrying the sleds while the children ran ahead of them, laughing, Gideon waved at them.
“Welcome back, Mabel! Dipper!”
They didn’t stop to talk, and Gideon wished they would, but thinking back to the things he had done earlier in the summer, he wasn’t really surprised. He was lucky they were smiling at him and acknowledging that he was there.
“Uh, how long are you guys stayin’ for? Gideon called after them.
Dipper turned around and started walking backwards so he could answer.
“January 3rd! Then we have to head back for school.”
They disappeared into the snowy landscape, but Gideon saw them again on and off throughout the winter break. But he didn’t really get to interact with them until he was walking past them and Wendy, Robbie, Pacifica, and some other teenagers he didn’t know the names of having a snowball fight.
“Hey, Gideon! Wanna join?” Robbie called over, waving at him.
“Me? Why, sure! If - if that’s okay with Mabel and Dipper.” Gideon said.
The snowball flinging paused for a moment, and the twins looked at each other. Then they gave each other a smile and nodded.
“Sure you can, Gideon!” Mabel said. She threw the first snowball at him, and Gideon laughed as he bent down to make his own.
They played for hours, and somehow Gideon and Dipper ended up chasing each other away from the others into a more wooded area.
“Okay, time out, time out!” Gideon said, leaning on a tree. “Gotta - gotta catch my breath!” He laughed a little, and he watched as Dipper also leaned against a tree to do the same.
He watched Dipper for a while as he looked around the forest and stared up at the sky for a bit. The other boy was clearly thinking about something, though Gideon could only guess at what it was. Gideon spotted something, then spoke up.
“Dipper, your lips are starting to turn blue.”
Dipper brought his gloved hand to his mouth, but with all the snow sticking to his gloves, Gideon doubted that helped much.
“C’mon, let’s go back to the others and we can all get warmed up,” Gideon said.
But when they reached the part of the snow clearing where the others had been, they weren’t there anymore.
“That’s weird,” Dipper said. “Mabel! Mabel!”
Gideon looked over Dipper’s clothes, truly taking in what it was made of and how it compared to his own. He listened to how Dipper’s voice was wavering from chattering teeth.
“Sweetheart, I don’t think you dressed warmly enough for today. What are you, wearing a T-shirt under that coat?”
Dipper blushed, then turned his head to give him an annoyed look. Then it turned confused.
“Did you just call me sweetheart?”
Gideon’s eyes widened for a moment, and on the inside, the entire world froze in place.
“No! No I didn’t! It was a slip of the tongue, I didn’t mean anything by - ! Y-Y’know what, let’s just get you warmed up. Mabel’s got a cell phone or something, right? Or Wendy or Pacifica? We can call them and have them meet us at Greasy’s Diner while we get some hot chocolates. On me, I’ve got plenty of money.”
Dipper shrugged, but agreed to Gideon’s proposal without a fuss.
It was much warmer in the diner, and Gideon and Dipper talked about all sorts of things while they waited for Wendy or Pacifica or Robbie to actually answer their phone. (Mabel and Dipper didn’t have any kind of cell phone, which was a little mind-boggling to Gideon. “Mom and Dad say we don’t need it,” Dipper had said, and Gideon still couldn’t really understand it.)
Dipper was telling him about the adventure he had gone on with Ford and Mabel the other day. He was so animated while telling it, and his eyes shone brightly, and now that his lips weren’t blue anymore he smiled so easily and it looked so beautiful.
‘He’s so cute when he’s passionate over something,’ Gideon thought.
Then Gideon’s eyes widened in shocked realization.
