Remember the Rudolph DS game?
Looking back, it's a soulless husk with some decent art and repetitive minigames, but as a kid with a RTRNR obsession I wore that cartridge OUT. I loved this game!!! (thank hell I didn't have the awful Wii port)

...because it wouldn't be a good licensed game based on a 1960s TV special without that True Vintage Feel, you know? *eyeroll*
I imagine the discussion between the writers for this part of the game went like
Writer 1: The artists are tired of drawing pixel art for $2 an hour, so they just recolored the same 4 Buck sprites. They need us to write an excuse for this so the ESRB doesn't think we're being sexist by not letting Does join in any...reindeer games. Or something.
Writer 2: Okay, let's script a pointless dialogue interaction for extra padding. We can say Clarice is busy doing...whatever Does do, so she can't compete in the race. Plain and simple!
Writer 1: Hm... it has to be Girly, because all of us here know that Does and Girls only get to do Girl activities. We really need to drive that point home.
Writer 3: What about a reference to, you know, the movie this game is based on, like flying practice, or helping the Misfit Toys, or-
Writer 1: Those are BOY activities, we can't have a Girl character doing Boy activities in our Good Christian Game!
Writer 2: I know, I've got it! Taking care of the WHOLE TOWN'S children and cleaning up after them!
Writer 1: Perfect. I'll tell the artists to reskin Minigame 3 again. And what about Rudolph's mom? I forgot to write her in again.
Writer 2: Yeah, yeah, whatever, she can pass out cookies, or something. We'll just say that Mrs. Claus baked them, everyone knows Santa can't cook. Cooking is strictly a Girl activity.
Writer 3: ...but...why would Clarice, who we depicted as a child, be assigned by her parents to babysit the entire nursery by herself as her "chores"? Isn't it more sexist to make the 3 main female characters stay inside cooking, cleaning, and babysitting while literally ALL of the male characters run around, pull sleighs, and play sports?
also just a sidenote I love all the silly noises in the minigames and stuff. they fit the rankin/bass aesthetic really well and bring a little bit of life to this boring game (the story mode drags so much that i had to find a longplay on YouTube to get these screenshots)
