“Engulfed”. . . . It’s not the most light-hearted subject matter, I know. But, this is the first project I’ve completed in months, despite having a handful of others in my head that haven’t inched beyond sketches and daydreams at this point for what feels like forever. I’ve simply lost the drive to put time into any of them. I suppose “burnout” could describe it. The overwhelming urge to move, act, and create being met with this immobilizing hesitancy, fear, and sadness. Not sure when I’ll get back to where I want to be, but the fact that I actually finished something is a good start. I bought a 5-pack of these canvases, and I’d like to paint on them all.
