l lawliet x gn!reader - you're a sweet tooth too
L knows his obsession with sweets is frowned upon, or at the very least questioned, by those around him. Watari, of course, doesn't mind, but the rest of the team working on the Kira investigation is sure to offer L a side eye every time he stacks fifteen sugar cubes in his tea.
He never thought that you would have the exact same habits.
You're new on the team, but L notices your quirk immediately. You always bring a marble soda to your desk, as well as a bag full of snacks that you consume throughout the day as you work. Strawberry pastries, candy bars, and mochi are some of your favorites, he's observed.
Sometimes, L notices when your stash is running low, and when you leave the room for a break, he takes the liberty of depositing some of his own snacks on your desk. You'll return to the room to find half melted ice cream bars and fruit jelly packs on top of your work area. But when you glance in L's direction, he'll always be in the same position, hunched in his swivel chair, staring at the security footage on the computer screens.
So you begin to share your snacks with L. It's a way of silently thanking him.
"Here," you shyly hand him one of the pastries you brought. "They're from my favorite bakery. I thought you might like to try one."
L murmurs a thanks and accepts the sweet treat from your hands. He immediately begins consuming the delicately frosted pastry, and between mouthfuls, mutters, "It's very good." Then he hands you one of his candy bars in exchange. You pretend not to notice as he looks away to hide the slight blush that has begun to form beneath his lined eyes.
And that's how a trading system developed. You'll exchange snacks with each other, like mutually beneficial partners in consuming sugar. Before long, you both have a shared snack stash in the office, full of both of your favorites. (L always makes sure you have first pick.)
The other detectives are flabbergasted, of course. "By god, dealing with one was enough but now there's two?"
Needless to say, the supply of sugar cubes decreases far more rapidly every day.
