No one seemed to wait their portrait sketched today. As good of an idea as it seemed at first, it hadnât been going as Yusuke had expected. There were many couples who passed him by, each was offered the same line of âCare to have your portrait drawn?â and almost every time he was met with refusal. He did not falter, simply switching his tactics to those who had come alone, but unfortunately, he was also met with rejection once again. Maybe it was just one of those days.
Perhaps it would be better if he kept to himself for now. And so he does exactly that, but continues people watching, sketching small pictures here and there of people who pass him by. He sits along for the longest while, only the faint sound of music from the carousel keep him company, that is until a strangerâa girlâtakes a seat next to him, doing what he can only assume is taking in the scenery. While nothing special, he can certainly see how the boardwalk would seem somewhat magical to someone whoâd never been here before. After a moment of mulling it over, he turns to her, offering a look at his sketchbook as he offers, âWould you care for a portrait sketch?â Perhaps sheâd be interested, she looked like the sort.
@morteum
Minding her own business, she used her day to look around for some part-time jobs (after all, she who does not work does not eat, either). Having done nearly a million applications (it was really around forty), she decides itâs time to give it a rest and simply wait for responses. Nobody could pass up a hardworking teenage girl willing to break labor laws to make a quick buck!
Sighing to herself and resolving to instead appreciate the remainder of the day, what with the weather beginning to cool off yet still warm enough to bask in the sun, she takes a seat on a bench, not minding the young man also on the bench. Notebook in hand, he seems preoccupied - must be a starving artist, his canvas blank and all. But she doesnât pay mind any mind, relaxing to the back of the bench and observing the strange world ahead of them, how different it is than back at home.
She jumps, not having expected the stoic man to say anything. âHuh? Oh! A portrait, huh...â Pondering for a moment, she would be more than happy to have a picture of herself framed to put up within her living space, although sheâs sure nobody else except her would appreciate the sentiment. âThatâd be great, actually!-- Oh, uh... I donât really have any money to pay you back, unless you take a rain check? Iâm actually about to have a job, so I will be in your debt until then if youâre okay with that!â She was really stretching the job part, but she fully intends to follow through with her word.
aequalitenoreâ:
It had been a quiet few weeks since Minato had arrived on the island, and once again the blue-haired boy had found himself wandering. Only recently had Minato been made aware that there were other former SEES members on this island, even if it was so far only Mitsuru. Were there others on the island? Was meeting Mitsuru just dumb luck? It was these thoughts that kept him preoccupied as his twin called for him.
Minatoâs head turned at the sound of his name, knowing without a single doubt that he knew the voice. Of course, he wasnât able to look before the girl threw herself at him, but that didnât matter. It was his sister, one of the only people in this world he truly cared for. Minatoâs arms reached out to catch the girl, knowing without a doubt that he would catch her.Â
âYou know, you could have warned me before you jumped into my arms.â He smiled, his face not matching his words at all. âBut I missed you too.â
As predicted, she catches her, her graceless sobs and all. He might not look like much, but her twin is the reliable type, even to something so unimportant as catching her (after all, this was not the first - or the last - time this would occur). âI know... but... Iâm... Iâm just so happy youâre here...â
Looking up to her older brother, she is completely at ease; two of her favorite people are here with her, things arenât looking so bad. Like missing her other half, she worried for her own brotherâs well-being after appearing here, but it seems theyâre in the same boat. Patting his shoulders to be set back down and on her own feet again, she still clings to his arm with one of hers. âI figured you were still strong enough to pick me up! I knew you wouldnât let me down! Have you seen Mitsuru-senpai too? Sheâs here, I havenât seen anyone else but--â A bucket of pent-up emotions and twenty questions, she realizes she must slow down for the older brother to catch up with her. Even if heâs used to this. âSorrysorrysorry... One thing at a time, right?â Sniffling, she wipes her face with her sleeve, she looks up again. âHow long have you been here? I feel like itâs been ages since we were back home...â she trails off, thinking once again of the lives they were forced to leave behind. âI really thought I died!â
hereditariaeâ:
Mitsuru is transfixed as she watches Minako deftly gather up skewers and marshmallows, half in a daze as her hand is grabbed and she is led to one of the fire pits. Though sheâs listening to her speak sheâs still a bit hesitant as she pierces the fluffy treat onto the skewer and holds it over the flames, watching the fire lick at it and roast it a light brown. âInterestingâŠitâs not often that Iâm able to see a chemical reaction like this up close.â Of course, while she is naive when it comes to things like this, she knows well enough to remove the marshmallow from the fire before it gets burnt, and thankfully hers is a nice golden brownâŠthat is a bit of a darker brown on the edge of black on one side, but practice would make perfect.Â
Heading back to the table, she gingerly picks up a graham cracker, places her marshmallow on top of it, then does the same with a piece of chocolate and another graham cracker. That was right, wasnât it? She looks to Minako for approval before staring at it a moment longer and taking a bite, a light gasp turning into a nervous giggle as crumbs and slightly melted chocolate and marshmallow cream all seem to burst out of the sâmore at once. Covering her mouth with one hand she does her best to lick the mess away, wishing there had been napkins set out as well. Knowing that Minako isnât going to judge her, though, she lowers her hand, a slight blush warming up her cheeks (though perhaps that was from the heat of the fire, perhaps not). âThe creaminess of the chocolate blends well with the fluffiness of the marshmallowâŠand the crunch of the graham cracker adds some nice texture. TrĂšs bien! This is delicious. I suppose this is just another food Iâve been missing out on, hm?â A pause, and again she looks at the auburn haired girl, a genuine, sweet smile on her lips (along with a bit of chocolate). âEither wayâŠIâm glad you were the one to show me.â
With Minakoâs own marshmallows burned to be incredibly crispy, she works alongside Mitsuru to make their sâmores. As usual, Mitsuruâs is nearly flawless, picture worthy if the brunette could say so. In her own red eyes, she feels her senpai is enjoying herself with something so simple, casual, everyday. And for just a moment, sheâs lost in an idyllic daydream of being like this forever with Mitsuru, worry free with the events of their last year behind them. Snapping from her idealized world, she is back to reality. Watching her finally taste their creations, sheâs overly pleased with it! The junior notes to herself that sheâll have to make these on a stove top sometimes with her, just to get a glimpse back to this shared moment.
Thereâs no lying in how cute she is. Graceful even with such an informal snack, she compliments the food as if there was a grand chef behind it all. âYeah, youâve been missing out on it! Iâm happy to show you, but... thereâs something... there...â The chocolate on her lips catches her gaze, and for a moment no fear is within her, having already finished hers in just mere moments, she leans toward the other girl, eyes narrowed and intended to âtake care ofâ the mess the other girl made.
Chickening out last moment, she backs away quickly. âI mean, thereâs probably a napkin somewhere in my bag! Hang on!â Turning to her side to dig around in her cross-body purse, sheâs sure her cheeks are as red as her seniorâs hair, hoping by the time she finds said napkin sheâll be calm. âThere! That... should be helpful.â Exhaling as if releasing all the embarrassment, she extends a handful of disposable tissues her way, as if an apology in and of itself for her completely awkward and totally horrible attempt at making a move. Maybe next time, she thinks to herself. âAnyway! Iâm glad you like them so much, Iâm glad to be hanging out like this... Oh! We can make sâmore of them if you want!â

Anxiety, unfortunately, was something Gaito had always to deal with. And while normally he would have just walked faster away and avoided the whole situation, lacking even in confrontation with his head down, this person had physically touched him, causing his fight or flight response to activate in freeze mode.
Heâ couldnât hear whatever they were saying, he couldnât hearâ
And then the girl practically saved his life, all in a flash.
âIâm alright⊠I appreciate it actually.â Heavy exhale, âThey werenât anyone I know, but â I simply froze up, is all.â
More embarrassing to admit the why, anyway. â⊠if thereâs any way I can thank you, itâs in my destiny to return the favor, soâŠâ
âWell...â Thinking for a moment, she could only empathize, not exactly understand the feeling of freezing up against people. At the least, she felt she could help someone else out if they were in the need of it. âIt happens to the best of us, right? Iâm glad youâre okay!â To her, this is no big deal, at least since heâs talking and seems to have recovered from the shock of it all.
âYou donât have to return the favor or anything - really, itâs no biggie! However...â She completely wanted a balloon off the cart nearby of miscellaneous treats and goodies, and maybe theyâd get a snack while at it. âIf you wanna hang out, though, Iâm happy to have some company if youâre not busy! They have some food over there on that cart, my treat! I think thereâs some ice cream too, if youâre into it!â Never a bad time to make a new friend, right?

hereditariaeâ:
âYouâre not being a baby,â Mitsuru immediately interjects; her voice is sharp, but not harsh, for it simply cuts through Minakoâs self-doubt. Just because the heiress is better at controlling her emotions doesnât make the other a baby by any means; she simply has more practice at doing so, and in a way she wishes she could be as expressive as Minako.Â
âItâs only been a few days for me as well â perhaps we did arrive together, but were separated somewhere along the way. I actually live here, inâŠCotes, I believe itâs called. Iâd invite you to see my townhouse, butâŠmy roommates are a bit eccentric.â She pauses as she looks around, following Minakoâs gaze towards the school. âI donât think the school is open yet, so thereâs no need to worry.â Another pause â âConsidering we disappeared before I was able to formally graduateâŠdo you think Iâll need to repeat my third year?â Her tone is serious, but her eyes sparkle. âJust kidding.â
As Mitsuru speaks her hand idly moves to rest on the otherâs shoulder, rubbing gently it in the hopes of providing her some comfort as she wipes her tears away. âOf course weâll stick together â did you really think I would just leave you here behind, leader?â Thereâs that wry playfulness again; being with Minako does more than just put her in a good mood â it allows her to relax completely, almost as though she is another person. âI know just the place. Have you been to the Star Trail yet? There are foods from many different cultures there â including some of the ones you introduced me to back home.â
Her relief is immediate. Mitsuru was not lost for long on her own, and that alone is reassuring. However, she jests about repeating a year, thus making her in the same grade as Minako, a terrifying idea. âNo way! Youâd test well enough for college, and... I donât know if I could compete against you in my own class, so donât go repeating third year!â While her tone is joking, sheâs serious in the same line; surely, if Mitsuru was her classmate, not only would she have someone driving her harder, but she would be second, and it pained Minako just to imagine it.
âWell, I must say, if whoever is keeping us here will let us, you should move in with me! I donât really know my roommates, but they havenât been a bother or anything, so Iâm sure itâs better than what youâre working with.â
Her demeanor changes at the flip of a coin - rather, at the mention of food from home; nothing like a beef bowl for the soul! âFood from home? Iâm SO in. Tell me theyâll have beef bowls - we tried those together before, didnât we? Thereâs no time to waste anymore, letâs go!â Beginning to tug at the hand of the redhead, empty stomach in charge, she realizes... she has no idea what this Star Trail is, or how to get there to begin with. Halting, Minako reevaluates the scenario. âUm... I hate to ask, but where is this place anyway?â
itâs ya girl
Sorry for the inactivity here! Iâve been caught up with a certain mobageâs anniversary, but I should be getting back on track with Minako and Cardia, and donât forget to follow Mukuro since sheâs back in Isola!
@requiemcount
On her own for the day, Minako takes the opportunity to explore beyond her usual horizons. The shopping center she has come across is filled with assortments of items sheâs never seen before, the crowd hustling and bustling just like most of the city does in the middle of the day. Today, however, seems busier than usual, so many people around to enjoy the heat before it cools down for winter, she assumes. Nearing the entry to one of many shops, a young boy stands on his own, frozen in place; she herself doesnât have trouble handling people, although not everyone is her. He seems to be bombarded by someone who, from the looks of it, is not acquainted with him; her only guess is that theyâre a salesman of some sort, offering a deal too good to believe to him. Sales must be rough if one must pitch their pushy talk to a kid. A natural leader wonât leave anyone behind, even if she doesnât know them personally. Approaching with familiarity, she offers a kind smile and a gentle hand to the boy, in turn declining whatever it is the stranger is selling. âNo thanks, not today!â Facing back to the boy, she then says to him, âCome on, letâs go!â
Separating some ways from the crowd, around the corner is much less busy, quiet enough that he could get his bearings. âHey... Sorry for that back there, are you okay? That person didnât seem like your friend, were they?â

âUgh! Seriously?â Louder than she expected, her shout at a faulting vending machine turns into an aggressive shake, unaware of a bystander watching her outburst. After her attempt to retrieve the candy bar is all but for naught, she turns around - only to be looking into the eyes of someone who saw the whole thing. Feeling a bit immature to someone who appears her own age, she canât help but feel a bit shy over losing her temper on something that is, in the grand scheme, so minor.
âOh! I didnât see you there, ahaha... Iâm sorry, I didnât mean to be so loud. These things get really frustrating sometimes, you know? I guess Iâll just take the loss...â Turning a bit away from the other girl, she takes one long look at the treat that forbids her hand, releasing a sigh thereafter. Sometimes you canât have your cake or eat it too.

Mitsuru canât keep a smile off of her face as she walks down the streets of Golden with Minako by her side, in her hands a fairly good sized dolphin plush â not too big, not too small, it had taken Minako a few attempts to get it for her but her tenacity had won out in the end, as usual. Though Mitsuruâs happiness appears subdued, she is overjoyed; for the first time since arriving in Spirale she finds herself completely and utterly at ease, memories of the two of them going to the summer festival back home lingering in the humid air. As they make their way towards the beach and the fire pits, she canât help but watch people as they pass by; everyone seems to be having fun and itâs simply infectious, and she begins to wonder if ending up here isnât too terribly bad after all.
When they arrive at the crackling flames, Mitsuru isâŠpuzzled. Thereâs food sitting out on a table, sausages â hot dogs? â on one side and graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolates to the other. Itâs all free for the taking, but the heiress is a bit lost; presumably youâre supposed to roast the food at the fire as some of the people already at the pits are doing, butâŠwell, sheâs never done anything like this before. New experiences make her a bit nervous, but with Minako at her side she has nothing to worry about; not only is her dear friend quite understanding about her naivetĂ©, but sheâs always willing to teach her about the things ânormalâ people do. Though an eager student, hopefully Mitsuru wonât look too foolishâŠ
âWell, this will certainly be a new experience. These areâŠsâmores, correct?â
Minako uses whatever she can to make this the best not-date ever! While sheâs not working with a large budget, after hearing of a festival she did her best to scrape together some odd-jobbed pocket dust so she could make such a thing come to fruition. Her hard work has paid off so far, however, spending a large part of the day taking Mitsuru places she ordinarily wouldnât go herself (so she assumed), and even she herself taking a dive to ensure the redhead has something to go home with. The dolphin is just the right size, she thinks, as she finally garnered enough pearls to cash in. Not at all displeased with it, her senior holds it with care. Thank goodness, she thinks to herself, appreciating that they can smile alongside each other even in this situation.
Their evening wraps up, almost. They decide, after all, to leave the excitement from the rest of the day behind and choose to settle by a fire pit and assortments of food, seating galore all around it. For a moment, the junior remembers that itâs unlikely Mitsuru Kirijo has ever been exposed to the glories of hanging out outdoors like this, including sâmores. Her words confirm it, and while common stuff can be hard to approach for her friend, she doesnât hesitate to make it easier. âMhm! You sandwich some chocolate and marshmallows between graham crackers and - tadaaa!â Taking her hand gently, she gives no choice in the matter - itâs never too late to give them a try now. âLetâs go get some! Weâll have something for dinner later!â Staying side-by-side, she begins with a skewer in one hand, a marshmallow in another. âYou start with firing these bad boys up over there, then weâll finish them over here...â After going to the fire, shoulder-to-shoulder, the girl places her marshmallow just hovering above the flames. This isnât a first for them sharing new experiences, and surely wonât be the last. âItâs nothing fancy, senpai, but I think youâll like these a lot. Itâs what like, all kids do when they have bonfires and stuff.â

hereditariaeâ:
The best things in life fall into our laps when we least expect it. At least, thatâs what Mitsuru thinks when a simple trip from her home to the library is interrupted by a high pitched wailing, followed by a sudden flash of auburn and warmth running into her. Though she blinks, Mitsuru doesnât need to think twice to know whatâs going on â she would recognize that voice, that hair, thatâŠeverything anywhere. And yet, she says it aloud just to be sure, though the wind has been knocked out of her and she can barely speak: âMinako?!â
As her friend sobs into her chest, Mitsuru gently runs a hand over her head, the other holding her close; the look of complete and utter shock that had been on her face quickly melts into a warm smile and she sighs contentedly, even holding back a giggle. Itâs surprisingly easy for her to settle back into the calm she had been in before she came here, the two of them sitting on the rooftop; so they both had come here together, or at least, not too far apart. Then that surely meant that they werenât dead, were they? It was curious that Minako echoed what the girl she had met upon first arriving here had said, but she would simply have to ask about that laterâŠ
âYouâre not aloneâŠand you certainly arenât dead. Itâs alrightâŠâ She waits a few moments more, stroking Minakoâs hair tenderly, until pulling back and facing her â her face and eyes are all red, and Mitsuru resists the urge to wipe those tears away. âHow long have you been here?â
The warmth of familiar hands is soothing, admittedly. For just a minute, she could expose her insecurity and pent-up feelings to her upperclassman, although sheâs much more than even just a close friend. For the minute Mitsuru assures that they are, in fact, not dead or alone, her tears stop.
âR-Really? Oh... hahaha... Sorry for being such a baby then.â Still flushed, her hands go immediately to clean up her sobbing mess, and sheâs a bit embarrassed for someone she think so highly of to see her this way - even if sheâs well and comfortable with it. Removing herself and giving the redhead breathing room, âIt just felt like I really died, though. I guess itâs just me then! I havenât been here very long, just a few days. I live over in uh... Archimedes? I live in some condo, itâs a little weird. How about you... senpai?â Hesitating, she doesnât remember exactly if she agreed before whether or not she could call her by first name; best not to bring it up now, maybe another time outside their reunion would be more suitable.Â
âDonât tell me youâve been here for forever without me! I havenât even gotten a chance to get back into school...â Taking a glance back over, the young woman gazes beyond the gates of the high school. âI know itâs only been a few days, but it feels like forever since I last saw you. Weâll stick together and figure all this out, right?â However, she is interrupted with her own stomach obnoxiously stating its hunger. âUh... We could start with lunch, if we can find somewhere?â

Cotes is becoming like an old friend, at this point, as nearly every day of Minakoâs is spent here; while not minding the travel back and forth, she considers if she may be able to move here or not. Today she discovers something like an internet cafe, and for being the evening, few people are here. Of the few, the young girl notices a boy clicks away at a handheld device near to her, and she canât help but take a glance at the screen, eyes widening at the familiarity of the gameâs interface and graphics: something she long anticipated prior to arriving in Spirale.
âOh, hey, Iâve been waiting for that game to come out! No spoilers, but... is it good?â Please help her.
It was a small festival of sorts, celebrating the newly revitalized cityâa festival that had took up one of the many streets located within the Cotes Ward. While multitudes of crowds continuously gathered on the street in question, they had mostly been attracted by the main stream events provided. The food stands, or anything alike to them, were relatively quiet, save for the groups of people passing by, some of who would occasionally stop to quickly buy some food and or snacks before moving along. Due to that fact, the detective decides to seize an opportunity where itâs particularly less crowded to scan the only menu of the snow cone truck rather attentively. Itâs only when he hears a voice call out to him, that he takes a few steps back, a sheepish laugh breaking past his lips shortly after. âOh, my apologies! I suppose I am being selfish, observing the menu longer than the allotted time! Letâs seeâŠâ With his gloved hand now resting atop his chin, those reddish hues of his cast down toward the pavement for a few moments, as if deep in thought, before approaching the truckâs owner. âIâll take the⊠Strawberry please!â Taking his request to mind, they promptly whip up a strawberry snow cone and hand it to him, and of course, in return, the detective hands them the amount he owes them.
Without delay, Goro lightly grabs a hold of the plastic spoon with his thumb and fore finger, and thereafter does he bring the flavored shaved ice to his parted lips. The small bit of ice instantly melt over his tongue, and what follows afterward is a soft hum coming from his now closed mouth, an action thatâs signifies that heâs pleased. âMm..! This tastes⊠amazingâŠ! The ice feels especially refreshing on a day like this one.â Though he voices his thought aloud, they arenât directed to anyone, just himself.
morteum ( minako arisato )
What she anticipated to be another stagnant day in the city becomes something much more exciting; returning to the Cotes Ward is almost a daily occurrence, although she didnât hear a single thing about a festival until, well, it was there, a celebration of the revived city. She thinks of ones she has gone to, winning games with Mitsuru and firing toy guns at targets for stuffed animals with Junpei, and she canât help but feel nostalgic. She only is a mere bystander, if only to relish in what she did have back at home, an observant at the joy around her. However, while originally bitter over the situation, the young woman has taken a turn for the better, if this event is any sign of hope then she takes it to heart.
She steps before a sign, standing off to the side to decide what her icy treatâs flavor will be (after all, sheâll always be the type of person to scour a menu before determining she will, after all, pick the same as always). The snow cone truck has too much to decide on, after all! Placing an order, for her favorite flavor as always (perhaps, her flavorite), she stands alone, content with the peach that occupies her tastes. A young man about her own age, dressed ever so neatly, interrupts her thought as he places his own order after some deliberation. Between his tidy attire and she figures, he seems like someone she could talk to! Very few people have been so openly social about Spirale.
âMhm! Itâs too hot, you made a good choice!â Pausing, she observes his cone, not having paid close attention to his flavor. âThe peach is perfect - or, really, peachy keen.â A giggle follows, cone in hand as she approaches him. He is the most approachable person sheâs met so far, hoping she may be able to ask him if heâs a native to this world, and if he knows anything more than herself about this phenomena of disappearing from one world and dropping to another. âI didnât know theyâd have a festival at all here - itâs amazing. Did you hear anything about this beforehand? I would have come better prepared to play some games, but itâs a little embarrassing going on my own to win prizes... you know?â Perhaps heâd be be able to accompany her, to reap glory and stuffed animals alike, at the variety games.
