I Laid Down My Anchor

Busy doesn’t even comprehend to what my life has been for the last few days. I’m surprised I even have time to write. 

Good busy I hope?  That’s what Summer is all about right?  Just jamming in as much awesomeness as possible until responsibilities come knocking.  What have you been working on?

Brittany sat quietly as Sam examined the ring. She watched his eyes skate over the color and figure, and she held her breath while waiting for a response. She wished she could control the way her cheeks pinkened. They were light and warm all the way to the tips of her ears, but she wasn’t embarrassed. It was something very private, and how Santana hadn’t heard about it from Finn or Rachel yet was a miracle in itself. And when he spoke again, a mixture of relief and happiness flooded throughout her. “Thank you,” she muttered almost shyly as a broad grin spread across her face. She closed the lid, but didn’t put it away just yet. “I think so too. She’ll probably have to wear it around her neck for a while because of Devone and everything, but at least she’ll have it before I leave.” Her eyes seemed to sparkle every time she talked about it, and she couldn’t wait to give it to Santana tonight. A lot of things in there lives had gone wrong, but this promise ring wouldn’t be one of them. 

Sam’s eye’s lit up when Brittany mentioned that she could use his help.  If there was anything he could do to make this special moment run more smoothly for his sister he was going to do it.  “You don’t gotta say another word I got it all under control Britt,” he assured giving her a confident nod.  “Batteries park, candles, and lesbian flowers.”  As he listed the things outloud he pulled out his phone to write them all down accurately.  If he had to trust his own short term memory for this he would have probably ended up  at the wrong park with a bunch of batteries.  

Nice to know you were able to fit the pieces together. There might be hope for you yet, Sam. Devone gave me the powers, and in return, it’s my job to use them to help him. I get that honor. Not so sure what his plan for you was, but it’s best it turned out this way instead.

That’s not much of an honor, dude.  Doesn’t  seem like a very fair trade to me. 

No worries, Sam. Anything that happens as a result of Liam and his terrible pranks is out of our hands. I’m sorry that you lost your chapstick collection, though. We’ll have to work on rebuilding it. 

It was like Punk’d goes to Reefside around here for a while, and I’m really hoping that now that he’s come clean he won’t try and pull anything else.   Thanks, Rach!  I can’t take on the big city with chapped lips.  

Has anyone seen Sam?

I really think that it is Kayden’s style. My father is behind the green warrior. Yet, I don’t know if he told Kayden to burn down Marley’s house, or if that girl did it of her own free will. Though knowing her. She did it to prove something to my father. Devone is using Liam to get rid of the rangers. I don’t know if that is the Green Warrior’s only mission. But, I have a feeling it isn’t. I wish that I knew what it was though. IT would make things easier. This has my father’s name all over it. 

Of course Kayden’s behind this.  I can’t believe I didn’t think of that sooner.  I wouldn’t put it past her for a second to try and prove herself to Devone by doing something that extreme... and stupid.  Do you think any other rangers or allies are in direct danger because of her?  I really hope it was a one time message sort of deal, but that hasn’t stopped Britt and I from watching over Stacey and Stevie like a couple of hawks just in case.  

I was only slightly irritated when you fell asleep during my spiel about Rosario Dawson’s version of Mimi Marquez in Rent, but when you dozed off during our private post-graduation festivities I knew something had to be wrong. What’s happening is definitely not normal or a sign of good health. Given all of the pranks that have been happening lately, I’m going to assume that this is temporary and the whole pumping your system with caffeine thing will no longer be necessary.

I’m sorry ‘bout that!  I promise to make both things up to, Rach.  Especially now that it’s all been worked out.  Liam pretty much admitted to messing with my chapstick, so I threw all of them out just in case.  

I understand that. July isn’t that far away, though. And when you do get in for real, we can have a huge “going to New York” party with all our friends so they know we won’t forget about them when we do. But we should totally have it at the beach since mom and dad crying about babies is kind of a downer. Stevie and Stacey can build a tiny city of sand.

I should know in the next few weeks, but all this waiting around is making the summer out to be kind of a bummer.  I think the beach sounds awesome though!  I’d love to hit the water as much as I can before we gotta switch coasts.  The water out there doesn’t look as nice... or swimable at all, actually.

Her face fell and her stomach sank at the mention of a waitlist, though she did her best not to let her disappointment show. A ‘maybe’ was much better than a rejection, but Brittany was impatient. Her excitement was overwhelming, and she wanted to start making plans now. She couldn’t do that with the fate of Santana and Sam’s futures up in the air. Being with Rachel was bound to be amazing, but it wouldn’t be the same. The four of them were supposed to go to New York together; it’s where they were supposed to begin the rest of their lives as some sort of real life version of Boy Meets World. It felt like things were slowly unraveling and they hadn’t even begun yet. Even so, ‘waitlist’ must’ve meant ‘hope’ somewhere, because Brittany certainly held onto it. 

“Fingers crossed,” he chuckled with a crooked grin as he crossed his own fingers.  Brittany’s unwavering confidence in him was almost infectious.  For a moment he believed he would be able to pull of a fourth quarter hail mary, and make it to New York with his sister.  However, with graduation on the horizon and no definite prospects he knew it would be nearly impossible, but if he had learned anything from playing years of sports: it’s not over until it’s over.  No matter how hopeless things seemed Sam wasn’t ready to admit defeat quite yet.

I don’t think I could agree with you more.  Arson hasn’t exactly been the Green Ranger’s style so far, so I don’t think he would start now... 

Oh. I probably should have guessed that.

I don’t think he’s as evil as he wants us to think though.  I believe that the old Liam is in there somewhere, and I’m pretty confident that between all of us we can get him back.  You helped save me when I was being Devone’s guinea pig, so if that’s what’s happening here helping out is the least I can do. 

Right?! People go crazy for it and it tastes kind of like microwaved evil. Have you been doing extra workouts or something? How come you’re so tired?

I don’t wanna be “Mr. everything is Liam’s fault”, but it’s probably Liam’s fault.  He put something in my chapstick.  At least that’s what he’s making it sound like. 

Part of me wants to see how many weeks it’ll be for you to finally put two and two together, Sam. Another part of me is sure you’ll never get there. Maybe I should start a betting pool.

Well looks like we won’t have to find out since you totally just admitted to being behind it.  What gives, dude?  What are you getting out of this whole Green Warrior thing?

You’re just saying that, because you never eat it. And if you do, you need all that other stuff so you can taste it all at once without doing a gazillion crunches after.

Maybe you could drink red bull instead. Or that Monster stuff. Those are supposed to wake you up, right? Coffee is so gross. I don’t know how people can drink it.

I think maybe I’ll give one of those a shot.  Seriously!  People drink it like multiple times a day, and I’m pretty sure their taste buds secretly hate them.  I’ll stick to hot chocolate. 

Come on, Evans I didn’t peg you for the type who’s afraid of a little doctor patient roleplay.
