When someone is found dead they immediately get brought to us IMMEDIATELY after they are found dead, so we work on everything from someone who died 30 min ago to someone who was just found but died months ago. We usually dissect the individual to extract almost organs including the brain

Harlequin's judgment becomes unreliable under certain conditions, but It would be inaccurate to describe the behavior as attention-seeking.

@ilsu-yeet-death: To Doctor: do you keep a record on your crew's medical details? Is it difficult to care for everyone when I assume you don't have much overlap with human physiology, or does data on other animal classes make up for that?

Let's just say I maintain rather extensive records, sweetie. However, your assumption is incorrect. I am thoroughly familiar with both human and animal physiology. I've spent many years studying each.

Psychology is a vast and remarkably complex field. That said, I believe I'm generally capable of communicating the appropriate message to my patients, even without formal expertise in it.

@asewine: To Doctor: I've noticed there are many...dolls? puppets? in your tent--hanging from the ceiling, lying on the floor, everywhere. I happen to be interested in this kind of thing. Could you tell me more about them? Do you have any favorite ones?

I don't concern myself with material gifts. However, I do own a blue hair clip that's proven unexpectedly useful. An irritatingly practical object, considering how insignificant it looks.

I admire your confidence. Not everyone can use the wrong word so decisively. The circus is ours now. What comes next will be far more impressive. Magnificent, even. Whether you'll find it pleasant is another matter entirely.

Sigh.... Keeping things has never interested me much. They have a habit of disappearing before long. Monsters appear. Places burn. Circumstances change. You learn not to grow attached.

@andermancer: For Jester: Which circus acts/tricks/abilities does each circus member perform best and, if you may bless me with the alternative, worst? Such as aerial, acrobatic, juggling, acts of strength, etc etc.

We offer a variety of performances. Pierrot handles aerial acrobatics. Harlequin excels at acting and fire-eating. Ticket Taker is a magician of considerable skill. Doctor is particularly effective when it comes to atmosphere and performance. That's all you need to know visitor.

@ronixx360: Jester, how did you come up with the rules and the acts for each member of the circus?

I personally think Harlequin loved Pierrot AND Columbina tbh, but that's just my headcanon as I honestly don't know for sure.

Harlequin: “Oh? Love advice? And you came to me first? I’m flattered. However, I’m more of a ‘hands on’ sort of teacher. So, if you are willing, why don’t we sit in a dark corner over there and I’ll show you exactly how to make the one you love scream your name in pleasure~”

Doctor: “Love is a chemical reaction, often associated with high serotonin. I could make something that will give your chosen partner this feeling, though there may be…..some side effects later on. You didn’t want children, right?”

TicketTaker: “Why would you be asking me such a thing, human? Go buy them flowers or chocolates, isn’t that how your kind mate? So easily drawn in…”

Harlequin: Standard first time--it's awkward, messy, but he's addicted to the feeling. It's also possible he learned from someone more experienced and/or channeled all he learned from the manyyyyyy humans he watched have sex. I wouldn't be surprised if he took notes lmao before getting to do it for the first time.

If his first time was with a human, I sadly would assume he had to devour them the moment they screamed and saw his true form. I could even see him crying afterward because he really enjoyed himself.

If his first time was with a monster, I'd imagine he felt lonely once they left---realizing that....yeah.....of course they'd have to leave...

TicketTaker: Gonna headcanon that his first time was with someone he genuinely cared about. Someone who said that he had value. It was nice, and he got better as they went on---but then this fellow monster reveals (perhaps to some friends and TT overheard it) that he was only using TT because he's a 'dull-claw' and it's easier for him to get meat. Basically admitting that he never cared about him and thinks he's weak. I could then see TT coming out hiding, likely killing all of them and proving them wrong.....crying after. ----but that's also a tad melodramatic. Could also be that he just fucked on the run once and the two got separated.....and he was sad about it, but there was no time to look for the other monster....so he just moved on.

Pierrot: Got wayyyyy stronger one day. Like, before puberty he could barely lift a bunch of sticks and now he accidentally can knock over a small tree if he taps it hard enough. Poor thing was afraid of his abilities for agesssss.

Harlequin: Got way horny---one day he stayed by a camp where he saw two other teens having sex and now he's obsessed with being a perv and watching them. He tried to get Pierrot in on it but the good boy just got flustered and ran away the first time covering his crotch. Harlequin laughed, but stayed to watch the show~

Doctor: Finally got his adult feathers but also realized his moods were somewhat imbalanced. One day he was unable to get his favorite fruit because humans had cut down the last tree near his nest, so he lashed out---scratching all the bark in the area, only to have to find another home because the locals got scared.

TicketTaker: Since he's had to blend amongst humans to survive, the ticketer was able to see movies in a theater on the rare occasions he could afford to. One day he accidentally got into an 'underground' theater where they showed porn, and at first he found it strange--seeing all that meat, naked, and smushed against each other until his brain rationalized it, made him imagine the bodies as monsters he'd found attractive over the years, and his body began to react. Rushing out of there, he took care of his problem before finding a local monster speakeasy, hoping to relive his frustrations futher.

Hey again!! Sorry it took me so long to answer this!

I wrote some of what it looks like for Harlequin/Third's birthday, but I can detail it more since it's more of a special occasion than an everyday thing!

Their typical schedule when the chicks are young is waking up and everyone shares breakfast before Third goes out for the day. This outing can include scouting, crowd work, reaffirming bonds, or even hunting/scavenging. The chicks typically stay home with Fifth who teaches them things or allows them to play in the main nesting area or around in the various spots of the cave. When they get older, they'll be able to go out more with Third and he'll teach them more about their home in the sanctuary and general survival skills if Fifth or One hasn't already gone over them (it would be more hands on than telling like for swimming and fishing for example).

One can sometimes come over to the cave for chick sitting on more importantly he helps with their schooling too. He tells them about the outside world, helps Fifth and Third in them writing and reading, and general knowledge about humans (though Third is iffy about the chicks being around humans at all and so they don't interact with tourists much). He also makes sure they can be ready if an event rises where they leave the sanctuary to live on the run/road as the circus he had planned before they were "rescued". The chicks love him and honestly feel safe in his cave that he shares with Two like they feel safe in their nest at home. They also like to test his limits at times (they are Third's children afterall) (Referred to as Uncle One)

Two also helps with chick sitting and he's best at teaching the chicks manners and perfecting their grammar/writing (think of him as the English teacher). He also helps keep an eye out for any suspicious activity when there's something strange happening on the grounds since rivers and pools alike are his "mirrors" within the park. The chicks love him, but they also try to avoid him as to not get impromptu lessons, which is hard when your uncle can be in the puddle you're sneaking past. (Refferred to as Uncle Two)

Sixth is the fun aunt and the sap of the group. She helps watch over them and mostly plays with them. She doesn't teach them much if anything since she wants them to more have fun or explore their creative sides when she's watching over them. They love it when she comes around because it means they may be able to go outside to play for a brief time. (Referred to as Auntie Six)

Fourth is last because his relationship gets more complex. He starts out as their uncle, but he's also buttering them up to see him as a more reliable figure than just an uncle. This is part of monster courtship if singles try to join a bond that has young. I'll go into more detail if people are interested in that aspect of monster society. He helps protect them and obviously chick sits them, but he's careful not to teach them things that may upset Third or Fifth. Fifth is more likely to allow him to watch other them because he's more likely to go in search of him for the job. The chicks like him well enough, but they can sense that something is different even if he doesn't outright say it. The youngest chick also mimicks Third the closest emotional wise when it comes to others, so safe to say that Nine gets more fussy and whiny when Fourth is watching over them.
