Korea, Korea, Korea, where do i begin? Awhile back i had made a post asking if you all wanted to see pictures from previous trips in my life, and the answer was yes so here we are. South Korea circa 2019-2020. Second time leaving the country, first time with the military. I was there from July 2019 till February 2020. I was there for the start of the virus as it made its way through the city of Seoul. All of these pictures right here are from that magical city. To this day I’ve never seen a city like it. If i could shoot street there the rest of my life i think I’d have to atleast consider it. Seoul is a city with a ton of sub districts to it. Each district offers something different. For example Hongdae was where the university was so it was a local melting pot full of individuals attending university as well as professors teaching for the school. Itaewon was a big holiday spot where you would find every nationality under the sun. Seoul was home to some of the finest most vintage views I’ve ever seen. Tbh these pictures don’t even do it justice. What I’d give to go back there after what i know now. Long distance sucks period. Recently tonight i was on the phone with my better half and it just felt like “one of those nights” actually it felt like “one of those days”. You see i had originally had a different post in mind when i thought about tonights post. I almost at this point feel connected and invested into this blog even though my following is minor and the traction is hit or miss. I was originally was going to find a picture of Gordon Ramsey on here and repost it and write about it seeing as my better half and i love the show Kitchen Nightmares. We both agree that when we watch it together it’s soooooooooo much different than when we watch it by ourselves. We just recently had a visit with each other and our last night we decided to watch it together. It was honestly one of the best nights we’ve ever had barring an unfortunate mishap that took place. Any how i came across this picture and had to post it because i realized that the distance does suck and that photos of Colorado are some of the things that cheer me up right away. Its something about the Denver area that makes me feel more alive than i ever have been. Everyone is so nice there and everyone wants whats best for each other. You can generally feel the energy when you cross the Colorado state line let me tell you. I truly love it there and yet here i am all the way in Texas so distant from my favorite place on earth. This pain is vastly different from the pain of a long distance relationship but you get the point. In all aspects of life distance can be a bummer most of the time. It’s our job to make the most of it and always try to remain positive and see the other side of things.That being said D I S T A N C E is something that can be beat with constant effort, communication, and alot of love.

I’ve been spending a lot of time and energy on routines as of late.... Blogging every night has become something i love to do. I’ve always had a passion visually as well as verbally and most will tell you i do well with words. I take pride in being well spoken and i feel as if this blog has given me an avenue to reach you all wherever and however this may find you. This picture symbolizes everything i’ve said above. My better half makes a lot of sacrifices being with me, one being the factor of long distance. We have been fortunate enough to see each other every month since September. We met on a dating app and truly never thought we would last. We spent hours talking on the app before finally exchanging numbers and realizing we live so far away. I was truly devastated to hear her say she lived so far away but ever since we’ve made it work and its truly blossomed into a wonderful relationship. These flowers here above symbolize all i’ve said above. It’s become a routine of mine to pick up flowers for her whenever she flies to me. The thing is i never feel as though i have to buy these flowers, rather i want to buy these flowers as a small token of my appreciation i have for her and all she does for me. I do it for the look on her face and the joy it brings to her life. I feel as though the small gesture is monumental in the way it can make someone feel. I also look at this picture and realize how well our relationship is truly blossoming. We always discussed that someday we would look back and realize how beautiful our relationship had become. I think there is truly no better picture in my phone to describe our story..... 

I thought about ending the night off without a post if im being honest. I’ve spent yet another day editing and progressing my craft in photography and its been a long day to say the least. My mind however had different thoughts and so i figured id share yet another important piece of my life with you. This is my better half. The chance of our story even happening in the first place was slim to none but here we are 5 months later still making it work. She lives a couple states away from me and honestly this has been one of my most challenging things to date. Long distance is tough. Out of that five months weve been lucky to see each other monthly but as we all know we all have our own lives and time may not allow us that opportunity for much longer. Not to get too personal between us but i think we both know its been a tough road so far. The distance can and will drive you crazy if you let it making little arguments feel monumental in size. I can however tell you building a foundation digitally has been a great venture. You spend so much time getting to know the other person that you have no real time for anything else. Its a constant effort each and everyday and we push each other to be the best individuals we can be. Sure we have our disagreements but tbh its been a fantastic five months and im so happy to be in the position im in. To my biggest fan on here i want to thank you. For believing in me and driving me to push my limits and even start this journey. In all reality i could have just texted you this but i figured the night of space was necessary and i know youll read this either tonight or tomorrow morning. I love you dearly and im grateful for you each and everyday. te amo mucho para siempre

I’ve realized through the course of this journey so far, its truly the editing that sets you apart from the rest of the photographers in the world. You must fall into your own style so people can recognize your work. There are some photographers that strictly shoot black and white, while there are some that are striving to diversify their portfolio. A sort of “jack of all trades master of none approach”. As i am a beginner and just starting out I am openly willing to shoot any and everything i can get my eyes on. As I’ve mostly stuck to urban street and nature photography, its left me with a dark moody editing signature that ive fallen in love with. I was editing photos of my girlfriend the other night and i realized that i just couldnt edit her in a lighter filter. I tried and i tried and i tried until i finally realized that its just not my style. And truth be told THATS OKAY! If you do this long enough you will begin to understand that its okay to develop your own sense of style when it comes to editing. This is what will truly set you apart from your peers. The process would be nothing without the grind so i encourage each and every one of you reading this to find your passion and start grinding. Its never too late to pursue it and apply all the pressure you can to your hopes and dreams!

I’m starting to tap in to my true creative side as i go through my roll and determine what are scraps and what are gold. It all stems from the potential. By first glance i never realized i had the camera focus on the flowers above me. I was so focus on the vibrant sign i failed to realize what was right above me. As i went through my roll i realized this picture had potential. I spent a good bit editing each color so the flowers would stand out the most. Through my online research I’m beginning to really enjoy the process of editing. I used to avoid Lightroom and photoshop due to the fact i simply didn’t understand them. I’ve always known from the beginning i may have a talent in photography but i never truly understood that the edit is what sets your photography apart from everyone else. You start to develop a style in which you shoot, which then reflects a certain edit that usually takes place. I’ve determined that due to my street and urban nature i tend to fall on the moody dark side of edits (hints my tumblr name in the bio). This is one of the lightest edits I’ve done to date, also one of the ones I’m most proud of. Getting better day by day and even hour by hour as i chase this dream and showcase my work to the W O R L D 🌍📷. This morning i had the pleasure of attending a stress management class with the Army Wellness Center. If theres one thing i’ve neglected in the army i can honestly say its my mental health. The army has honestly learned to get every last drop out of me as i sit and neglect the things that matter the most around me. I walked into this meeting optimist as i truly want to get a better grasp of my mental stress moving towards the civilian world. During my meeting today the stress relief method had to deal with graphic imagery. Me being a dedicated photographer, i figured this method would allow me the best chance to mentally tap in and take it seriously. I started off in a chair just relaxing for about three minutes before the exercise started. My mind wandered during these three minutes of awkward silence as i wondered what this test would do for me. What would i get out of this test? Would i truly take it seriously? Would i be able to truly control my thoughts as this test was administered. You see this test consisted of a simple scenario being read off to me. As i sat there in a massage chair (that was not turned on) i was read a scenario as my mind focused on building a picture. If you talk to anyone around me (my girlfriend especially) they will all tell you my mind is a walking photo op. I walk through every day coming up with new scenes for different photos. My mind truly never stops creating. The scenario that was being read off to me today was about a forest. This forest had trees with all different color barks, leaves, etc. I sat there and took my mind back to this picture. I can still feel exactly how i felt in this very photo. I was hiking storms peak in Colorado located in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was so at peace in this photo. I sat on that rock to my left and let the colors soak me in as i tried to relax. I took a minute to truly enjoy the moment before my mind took over and i took out my phone for a photo. I just remember being so at peace with my life and the situation i was in. I left the fear of hiking alone go as i truly set my body free of any tension and worry. I thought of this very trip as she read the scenario and i tried to relax the best i could. The scenario spoke of the vivid colors along the forrest and the calming sounds of the water falls as well as the birds chirping away. It all brought me back to this very moment and video. So calming ...... So P E A C E F U L. Where is your peaceful place?

She got to the end of the scenario and my results showed i was taking the test seriously and actually found small moments of peace throughout the scenario. This proved to me that I was committed to the test. It also proved to me that photography and things like this blog truly do my mental health well, as i share my experience with you through this transitional period in my life. Never stop fighting for your peace or mental health. Your soul deserves so much more than to battle with itself each and every day. Find peace in every little thing you set your energy towards. 

In photography, it’s all about trial and error. You can go out and take a million pictures and only end up with 10-15 true photos you’re satisfied with, and that you see the potential in. They always tell you quality over quantity but i don’t always think that’s necessarily the case. You don’t have to go out and settle on 10-15 shots. Shoot as many things as you can and build that practice and momentum. We’re out on the town and my better half had to practically beg me to put the camera away (god bless her), as my mind wonders to the next photo opportunity. Don’t let your impatience murder your creativity, shoot until your satisfied because it’ll all pay off in the end. These were two photos in my roll i was keen on getting rid of. I was on the phone with my mother yesterday playing with some edits and realized i saw potential in both and decided to just mess about until they turned into the vision i desired. The creativity and the grind it takes to put your vision in front of your audience is what truly draws me to the passion. Hello world, I cant simply explain in words how refreshing it is to be back on this site. I previously used this site back in 2012 just to view the world through various different lenses. It seemed as though back in the day Tumblr was so far ahead of its time, or i was just so far behind the times. Either way fast forward 8 years and a degree and career choice later and here i am today, still as creative as ever with a bit more wisdom to share with everyone. Ive decided in year 27 of my life my true passion is content creation in the form of photography in videography. I am always so inspired apps such as Instagram and Youtube and i’ve always had this creative itch to my threads. Something yearns in me to be far from average and to strive for excellence in all facets of life. I just so happen to harness this energy through the lens of my camera. My trusty SonyA7iii newly purchased over holiday block leave due to lack of inspiration and the yearning to support my dreams even at such a “late age”. I went out on a limb, invested in myself and my equipment, and got to work. I’ve spent virtually every moment i can either editing or taking photos to build my portfolio for future employers to feast their eyes upon. I’ve spent countless hours building up my social media platforms as well as researching ways to market my creations. I figure i might as well hit this head on if there is any way i am going to eventually make this a career. But to me the grind is far from fearful. The grind actually soothes my soul. The grind gives me a sense of purpose and a sense of freedom again. I lost those feelings three years ago when i decided to join the military. I get out in August and am looking to revamp my creative side, as i make a push for the civilian world. I look forward to sharing my journey with you as we build this audience from the ground up slowly but surely. Day by day one step at a time.......
