Ignemque Illum, Qui Perdit | Open
Walking among the gravestones, Moonshine hummed to himself, as if desperately attempting to bring some normality to this grievous day. As happy as he seemed to other people, the man was burdened; it was why he loved to lose himself in book and technology. Anything to get the thoughts away.
Squatting before such a familiar grave, its marker was amazing, depicting the archangel Michael throwing a bolt of lightning, wings flared just so. The image brought a smile, albeit a sad one, to Moonshine's face. How ironic it was; he stopped believing in angels the day he watched his parents' bodies lowered into these adjacent graves.Â
As if he were afraid, he reached towards them, placing a hand first on one, then the other. There were no words to be spoken here, only memories dancing before Moonshine's white eyes. Unconsciously, he rubbed at his forearm, remembering the pain that seemed as if it would never end; the fire, the smoke, the screams of his mother and father as they rushed him out of their home...
Today was not to be a good day at all.

Image look the pills and nodded after swallowing he placed the glass of water on the table. âThen what do you think I am? If I may ask. I would like to know before I tell you.â
Moonshine stood, finally, and stretched out his long limbs, setting up to put his tools back where they belonged when Image's question registered. He stopped, chancing a look back at the man. "That is fairly simply, I believe so, anyway. When I asked you your name, I immediately coupled that with the information you let slip of your previous whereabouts. Doing so, I have come to the conclusion that you are one of Loki's clones. Am I correct in my assumption?"

Moonshine was almost waiting for the comment. Nonetheless, he knew the bait had been taken when he saw the look on the otherâs face. With his eyes turned down to the device in his hands, he hummed softly, cheeks cratering as he returned the smirk. âVery well, Neil. I shall add a drink to the list of things I am fated to buy you.â The return jab was friendly, of course. Moonshine was almost too polite for his own good at times.
The dark had never been a problem for him. His eyes gave him the ability to see quite well in it, as well as registering the details no human ever would. Out of the corner of his eye, Moonshine could see the look on the otherâs face, and answered the unspoken question. âI would hope you are thinking something much more original than the questions I am usually asked. Go on, it is not a problem; ask away.â
âWhat happened to them?â Neil asked, gesturing to his own eyes for clarity.Â
There was nothing ugly about the whiteness, oddly enough. After the initial shock of unnaturalness, they were rather unimposing, moistly expressive as any other eye, the color easy to miss in the overall temperament. Still, Neilâs curiosity was a fault.
âNot that you owe it to me to say,â he added as a gruff disclaimer, strangely embarrassed by this turn of events. Like heâd put his foot in his mouth somehow. âYou are buying me dinner. If anything I owe you something.â It was annoying to admit.
"You owe me naught, Neil." He replied smoothly, turning his head to give the other a reassuring smile. It was a question Moonshine had been plagued with since he was a child. He was, however, appreciative of the man's bold curiosity. "I enjoy helping people."
With a quiet sigh, Moonshine readied himself for answering, knowing the memory would play before his snow white eyes once again. "I was a child who did not heed the warning of not to look at the sun during a solar eclipse. For an unknown reason, the event turned my then-blue eyes this clear white I bear today. Instead of going blind I was gifted the ability to see in near pitch darkness, as well as being able to see details none other can."
He gave him another smile, as if it was all okay; in actuality, it was. Gesturing about with a hand- Moonshine nearly always spoke with them- he asked a light, conversational question. "Is there anything in particular you would like to eat?"

From where he sat, the man was tall, possibly taller than him. At 6'2, it wasn't something Moonshine saw often. Very well. Idly, he wondered if the man was the client he was to wait for and, after a moment, waved him over to his table in the quaint coffee shop.
"Sir," His voice was soft, as it always was, accent light and airy due to years of American influence. "I do beg your pardon, I do not mean to be a bother. Are you, by any chance, the man I am supposed to be waiting for?" It was a bold question, even for Moonshine, but one that begged an answer.

Moonshine looked up from his laptop; the air in the coffee shop had changed. Almost immediately, his eyes fell upon the woman that had walked in. There was something to her... something vaguely familiar. Nevertheless, he resisted staring, offhandedly wondering if she was the client he was to meet as he went back to his work.Â
With his white eyes still looking at the screen, he spoke, knowing she was close enough to hear. "Good afternoon, madame. You seem a bit lost," He looked up then, giving her a polite smile. "might I be of assistance?"

Lips of Steal // Open
That was a strange feeling, the pull of thread through his lips. the corner o his mouth turned up trying to make it feel a bit better, but instead it still felt weird. âCivil duty? Do you do this for everyone?â
Smiling slightly, Moonshine shook his head. âNo, I do not; if I can help someone, however, I will do my best. Consider me kindhearted, I suppose.â Finally ridding Image of the string, he started at the other end of it, eyes trained on the otherâs lips. âI cannot bear to see someone in pain.â Taking a second to meet the otherâs eyes, he added, âNo matter where they come from.â
Image nodded the string gone from his face. âDo you know where I come from?â He had a feeling it was yes, But the eye contact and how it was said. His mind went to the worse. as much as he was his own being he would be compared to his creator, and all the nasty things he did.
"I believe I may; at least, if I have my lore correct." He replied, pulling out the last bit of string. "Ah, we are finished." Moonshine announced. Resting the tweezers on the table, he held up the antibiotics and water. "Take these, they will alleviate the pain as well as ensure you will not get an infection."

âWell, that may be true, but I have always believed the power is in the hands of the woman.â With that he shrugged softly, giving Eris a polite smile. âHave I just been compared to Thanatos? I never thought I would see the day.â Moonshine mused playfully, standing and taking hold of his jacket. âThat is a story for another time, I think. But, I do not believe I shall know when I need a Goddess next, soâŚâ Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his nearly-transparent phone, holding it out to her. âIs there any way for a man to ask for your number without the pretense of said man flirting?â
âWell, it is in some cases. Â Take me as an example.â Â She chuckled. Â âMy dearest brother probably would not take as kindly to the comparison as you, but it still fits.â Â Eris took the phone in her hand and quickly keyed in the number of her own cell phone. Â âNo pretenses here, love.â Â She handed the phone back with a grin. Â âHow about we call it a friendly rendezvous number instead?â
Shaking his head, he slipped his jacket on, running a hand through his hair as she typed in her number. Graciously, Moonshine took his phone back, eying the number and nodding. "All the time." He corrected playfully. "... Well, yes, I can deem that fitting. It was a pleasure to meet you, Eris."
Stepping closer to her, Moonshine reached forward to gently tilt the goddess' chin up. Dipping closer, he chanced the opportunity to ghost his lips over her cheek. In the same motion, he was walking away, turning to give her a polite smile. "Truly."

Oh, dear...
Dinner had been a jokeâin a way, sort of. Shit, Nate just did this thing where his mouth ran and his brain couldnât keep up. Half the time, he couldnât even be help responsible for what his mouth said. He did, though, mean coffee. âToo soon? I thought we were friends already. With you, you know, following me and what not.â He grinned a little, pace slowed to a walk rather than a âIâm totally guilty for something please donât catch meâ sort of a job.
âYou have some police after you? Tsk, tsk.â He tutted, rounding a corner of the busy streets, the guy still by his side. It was weirdâhe wasnât used to walking with people. Fuck, for the most part, Nate worked with books. And when he wasnât working with books, he was working with computers.
Clearly, his life did not have a âhow to talk to peopleâ option.
âI just pissed off some people, wrong place, wrong time.â He half-truthed, becauseâwell, it wasnât a lie. He did piss off some people. He should have been done an hour early, but malfunction happened, soâwrong time, too. Nate stopped abruptly in front of a coffee shop.
He had to meet someone here way, way, way into the night, but he figured heâd hang around. No point of possibly bumping into one of the cops that caught a glimpse of his hair, or his face. Might as well wait it out someplaceâŚquiet. âWell, this is me. As I said, welcome to join me for coffee, if youâreâyou know, still bent on learning my secrets.â It wasnât really known to him, but his humor always left a bit of a mysteryâhe was so unserious most of the time, people almost craved to know, craved to see more. He was veryâŚhidden. Except when he was nervous, like being chased by the cops. Nerves, people could tell. Everything else? Blank.
He nudged the door open with his hip, eyebrows up in an âare you in, or are you out?â sort of gesture.
"Well, capital has to be made somehow, does it not?" Moonshine replied with a grin, easily threading through the crowds of people. His time at multiple orphanages, and then the streets, had given the studying man the gift of gab; he was able to talk himself out of most situations. "You have no room to talk; I do not actually have police officers looking for me."
Listening to the other speak, he nodded, understanding the dangers of a job that constantly put you on the other side of the law. That didn't mean, however, that he was going to be nice about it. "It sounds as if you made a rookie mistake or two, friend." Looking up, Moonshine chuckled to himself. It was the coffee shop he was supposed to meet his own client. Well, now he had an excuse to be there.
"Your secrets are yours to keep," He responded, white eyes surveying the place before he stepped inside. "I, however, need to meet someone here. I imagine that is going to go well.." The sarcasm was thick in Moonshine's voice, but he knew he would get out of it, one way or another.
