when i think about sentryagent getting married i always imagine john is the one who proposes. this is because i think john is a romantic and he loves being someone's husband, meanwhile bob never expected to get married and is perfectly content to stay boyfriends forever. basically marriage is important to john but it isn't important to bob. BUT. what if all this led to bob proposing. not in a grand gesture like john might do but quietly. informally. impromptu. john wants to propose. he wants to marry bob. but bob has said many times that marriage isn't important to him and that he doesn't want to get married and even that it scares him a little bit. so john decides to hold off on proposing until he's 100% sure that bob is comfortable and happy with the idea of marrying him. which might be never and that's okay. if he did propose, john would get a ring and plan a special day but bob? bob does it cuddling in bed with john. it's early in the morning and he's still half asleep. john's hand is in his and john is playing with his fingers and all he can think is that he wants this for the rest of his life. and suddenly he feels like as a "just a boyfriend," john might slip away from him. so he says without much thought, "i want you to marry me." john tucks bob's hair behind his ear and kisses him on the forehead and says, "okay." after that, they start calling each other fiancé and no one can figure out at what point they got engaged.
