Fun random question popped into my head. Anyways, opinion on ships that wouldn't be super physically affectionate? (my current OTP is like that, and while I always Adore characters doing weird stuff with romance, it is a little sad for me that I can't really see, for example, a setting where I could write a ficlet of them kissing without a Whole Lot of emotional explanation as to why they'd be doing something they'd probably do Very Infrequently TwT)
Okay so don't get me wrong, I am SUPER physically affectionate myself, and I LOVE physical affection in fics - but other ways to show affection are also super under-rated.
Here's some of my thoughts.
Character A coming home to find Character B cleaned their living space for them just because.
Character A cooking a meal for Character B and watching them taste it.
Character A checking the clock and counting the minutes until Character B is supposed to arrive.
Character A sending pictures to Character B.
Character A wearing decorations or accessories that remind them of or connect them to Character B.
Character A smelling Character B's clothes.
Character A sleeping on Character B's spot in bed.
Character A writing notes or letters for Character B.
Character A picking out flowers for Character B (or folding origami for them, or buying them balloons, etc)
Character A making a piece of art or craft for Character B.
Character A laying out clothes for Character B to wear.
Character A arranging a special surprise for Character B.
Character A taking care of Character B when they're sick.
Character A's gaze lingering on Character B and taking in their whole appearance.
Character A smiling while listening to Character B's voice.
Character A singing for, or with, Character B.
Character A making Character B's bed for them.
Character A buying Character B a meaningful gift.
Character A putting on music that reminds them of Character B.
I probably could go on.... ^^;;;

Imagine your F/O helping you with your chores or other daily activities.
No, I'm serious about this one. Actively imagine them there with you when you're working on a task. Imagine chatting with them the whole time. Imagine them reminding you about little parts that you might have forgotten.
Imagine them apologizing for not being able to help more. Imagine villainous F/Os cursing your laundry. Imagine F/Os from other times puzzled by the refrigerator until you explain it.
The mundane is so important in a relationship. Your F/O would want to be there with you for all the silly little things you have to do all day, and would support you in them.
Imagine the scent of your F/O.
Do they were a cologne or perfume? Do they use products like hair gel, aftershave, etc? How often do they bathe, and what kind of soaps and shampoos do they use? Do they sweat? Do they spend time anywhere, or participate in any activity that would leave a particular smell on them? How do all of these things come together and mingle into the unique way that your F/O smells?
Imagine your F/O covering you up with blankets and then slipping in under them with you to cuddle up right next to you.
Imagine cooking with your F/O. Passing each other ingredients, helping measure them. One of you stirring while the other holds the bowl. Tasting recipes together. Gently brushing past each other as you move around the kitchen. Is one of you a good cook who has to teach the other? Are you both disasters but have fun anyway?

You're occupied doing something else, when you feel a gentle touch on the top of your head. You look up to see your F/O smiling at you, and you lean into their touch.
