and thank god they ARE showing the incestuous nature of gabrielle/lestat BEFORE the turning in a way that cannot be argued and/or denied. there’s magnus but gabrielle truly is the root of why it’s always about sexual desire. there’s no love without that because lestat has never known love that wasn’t tied to sex, even when it came to his own mother. and if AFTER the turning there could be an argument made for the lines blurring, before gabrielle is just plainly and simply his parent who is sexually abusing him.
this is also very important for the lestat&claudia dynamic because he DOES love her as a parent but with no sexual desire involved. following his father’s abusive behavior and also seeing the mother&child relationship that louis and claudia have as something the father needs to be concerned about and jealous of, because a child is what? either neglected by the mother or loved more than the husband, and not just that, but replacing him 😃
