I’ve been watching Good Omens for ’ll of about ten minutes and I have to say, I do like the poetry between hell’s most angelic demon and heaven’s most demonic angel coexisting

Through watching the rest of the show I went from “worst demon and worst angel- a demon that is too kind and an angel that is too hedonistic”, to “best demon and best angel- a demon so rebellious he can’t even cooperate with the rebellion and an angel so angelic he was ordered to love humanity and now refuses to stop”, and having finished, now, I’ve found myself resting on “two beings who are in fact very very human and love each other very much”

and of course i’ve been thinking about tragedy and how you can say “there was a way both rose and jack could have survived”, “there was a way for achilles to save patroclus and himself from their fate”, “there was a way for orpheus and eurydice to both get out of the underworld”, “if only they had done this”, “if only they had thouht of this” but in the end the people involved are not gods, they are stirred by their emotions and preconceptions and the limits of their knowledge and their fears and ambitions, and in good tragedies i think there’s always a way out that is completely plausible and even easy to find but the humanity of the characters drives them to mistakes that ultimately add up to the most heartbreaking conclusion you can imagine. and i think that’s beautiful.

if i don’t periodically remind myself that there are a LOT of other ppl in their 20s who currently do nothing at all but lie in bed and type on various different screens all day then i start having heart palpitations

i think one big different between tumblr and other social media is the usernames. on other sites people will just add a lot of numbers to their username and here we all went “okay weird” and went nuts. you don’t make an account on instagram called motherfucker-unlimited, you do like ccsmith6.08 or whatever the fuck. here? usernames bigtiddygothgf and misha-collins-stan discuss special relativity with all the confidence of a thousand physics professors. a blog called sarah378 is a porn bot.

there is no audience to perform for, there is no approval, no admiration to attain. there is no role worth playing, there is no one to convince. let it go
